Advertised as ski-in, ski-out, this house is more accurately a 200m uphill hike to reach a ski trail, and then a 200m hike back. The ski run down to the base lodge, which you join after the hiking, has some steep and narrow sections and could not be done by beginner skiers.
PROS: lovely views, clean, nice primary suite, the loft space and bunk beds.
CONS: "smart" lights would switch on at random during the night. Kitchen oddly stocked – lots of plates, spices and not enough drinking glasses, baking dishes. The beds in the non-primary adult bedrooms are full size, too small for two adults. The dining seating is awkward – the table is too big for the space. The hot tub is out the back door and down a snowy path, which required shoveling. The fridge beeps every time you open it, and there are some odd storage bins in it – we tried to store some perfect bars in one of them and it broke off (and the host attempted to overcharge us for the repair).
Our primary issue, though, was that the fireplace was nonfunctional during our entire stay, and despite being alerted of same within the hour we entered the house, no one ever addressed or fixed the fireplace during our five night, $10,000 stay. In a cold house without boot warmers, the warmth and ambience of the fireplace was dearly missed, so I requested a 10% refund of the rental price, which was rejected by the property manager. I had to get Vrbo involved and am still waiting on resolution.
