Brakeman's Bay - Charming Lakefront Studio - Wheelchair Accessible
Spend the night in a historic train station! Brakeman’s Bay is a charming, wheelchair-accessible studio cabin set in a former train station, offering beautiful lake views and a private covered outdoor seating area. This one-of-a-kind space blends vintage railroad character with modern comfort, inspired by the Brakemen of the historic Southern Pacific Railroad.
Inside, the cabin features a full kitchen—including a fully functioning antique stove—along with a standing shower and thoughtful touches throughout. Large, well-insulated windows and doors help minimize sound from the active rail line, which typically sees a train pass about once per day, preserving a peaceful stay while honoring the property’s history.
Each cabin includes a dedicated desk and rolling chair, making Brakeman’s Bay an ideal spot for remote work or creative inspiration. Complimentary Wi-Fi and tranquil lake views create a productive yet relaxing environment.
Take a ride on one of the complimentary canoes or kayaks - available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Outdoor enthusiasts will love the easy access to the lake, marina, pier, and docks. Fishing opportunities include coho salmon, steelhead trout, rainbow trout, largemouth bass, perch, bluegill, and catfish. Bring your own boat, jet ski, kayak, or other watercraft.
Beyond the lake, guests can enjoy seasonal mushroom and berry foraging, nearby hiking trails, and the Oregon coast just a short drive away. The nearby town of Florence offers shopping, riverfront dining, waterfall hikes, and coastal adventures such as crabbing, clamming, and charter fishing—making Brakeman’s Bay a perfect base for exploring it all.

Nice and quiet, great view of the lake. It was fun staying in a place with modern appliances from way back when. We had a good time.

Hosts were great- very friendly and accomodating.
We were greeted as we drove up and welcomed to the property. Dan and Jean were both friendly, helpful and available! One of the most fun rooms we've ever stayed in with so many interesting items. We will return!
Enjoyed the lake view and quaint old railway station vibe…..even the little train coming once a day was great…… picked blackberries on my walk….early season but enough for a cobbler….. fun times

Peaceful Lake Retreat
Looking for a peaceful place to stay on the lake, while we saught out our new home, we had no idea what a gem we had stumbled onto! We arrived to find old world charm, everything we could need in the way of amenities and NO TV! Heaven! We spent the week exploring our new would be home area, playing on the lake and dreaming of a quieter way of life. We came looking for a home and found a community.

A real gem!
Brakeman's Bay cabin is appointed with lots of amenities, everything you need for two, while enjoying the antique railroad themed decor. The ultimate relaxation place with a gorgeous setting, clean and quiet. Comfortable queen bed and shower was great. The cabin is nestled beside a beautiful, stunning lake view with birds and wildlife close by. It was wonderful to be able to utilize the canoe for a paddle on Siltcoos Lake! Thank you for sharing your cabin with us and we look forward to visiting again! Highly recommend this place!

Fun Lake Getaway Retreat
Charming row of erstwhile railway workers cottages steps from the lake, with the added bonus of an occasional train passing by.
Full-size kitchen has an array of appliances but make sure you bring some groceries …the drive to town is 23 minutes and you wouldn’t wanted want to do it after dark..
We used both the canoe and the kayaks made available to guests…
We would come back again…it was a neat experience.
This cabin really takes you back... from a working percolator coffee maker, toaster, & stove, to the super cute blowdryer! Breakman's quarters is an end unit, & has a large, modern walkin shower. Nice water pressure. Kitchen has a working retro-looking fridge & microwave. Easy to access door code & ice available onsite.
We enjoyed the view of the lake from the dining table & the adirondack chairs on the lawn. Its August, so many plants & grass have died back, & no train went by on our visit. Fun walk down to the dock. Swollows nesting above the cabin, & the baby birds were a delight.
Roasted marshmallows on the propane firepit on the deck & grilled steaks on the BBQ grill. No tv, wifi strong... it was so nice to turn off my notifications & enjoy the quiet. Great base for exploring of surrounding areas including old town Florence.
Its a quick 6 miles to the cabin, all paved, as long as you follow the signs for the Nightengale's fishing camp, which is just before the cabins. Overall, a real slice of history.

For the third year in a row we have spent a relaxing and fun week with our family at Siltcoos Station Retreats.
Brakeman's Bay is perfect for us, a retired couple with some physical limitations. Our host, Dannon ,and hostess, Jean, are always right there to help us with any needs and answer our questions. Plus each year they are working hard to make any improvements that they deem necessary. Thank you again for another wonderful week with our family at Siltcoos Station Retreats!!

As you approach the property you see an unkept yard with broken down vehicles. Our luxury studio had large trash cans in front and 2 rusty boats. Our view from the room faced a cluttered backyard with a rusty tractor, railroad tracks, then the beautiful lake. We walked around the studios to try to get to the lake abd found more broken down vehicles and more non landscaped land. Behind our slay bed was a wall of spider webs. While laying in the bed you can hear everything your neighbor does in their restroom. This property also holds an additional 300- security charge from your card and holds that for 3 business days after you check out. I requested an early return of that money.
Our stay at the Siltcoos Station was a remarkable experience that transported us back in time. It's the closest you can get to spending a night at a train museum. Dan and Jean have done an exceptional job recreating the ambiance of an old train station, complete with functional antique appliances and furniture. The rich history of the Siltcoos Station spans over a century, and Dan is a knowledgeable source to learn more. The cabin's tranquil interior, despite being next to operational train tracks, ensures a peaceful stay. The picturesque Siltcoos Lake and boat dock are just a stone's throw away, with kayaks and a canoe provided. Fishing docks near the cabin and Nightingale's Fishing Camp offer excellent angling opportunities. For exploring the Oregon coast, Dan can provide insights into attractions and activities. Our unforgettable stay had all the comforts needed. Nearby Florence offers groceries and great dining options.
