Westerly getaway

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the cottage. We were so happy to bring our four legged buddy with us. We all had a marvelous time at a great rate. Charming neighborhood in great location. Hope to return!

Family Fun!

Had a great family day on our boat it was perfect to be able to stay so close to our Marina. There was plenty of room and the AC was a bonus!!

Location was great, near the beach and highway. We stayed the weekend and went to Mystic Aquarium. There are 2 bedrooms and bathroom upstairs with the kitchen and living room and 2 bedrooms and a bathroom downstairs. The stairs are very steep and were hard for my in-laws to navigate. There are weren't any paper towels or napkins supplied so be sure to pack those. Hosts were reachable through VRBO.

Nice stay in Westerly

This house in Westerly was a nice base camp for our family's first ever visit to New England. It is very close to the beaches, Watch Hill, Mystic, grocery store, and Walmart. Newport is a short drive. Our hosts were great at communicating with us and very accommodating to our needs. Although we didn't spend much time at the property, we enjoyed the amenities while we were there.

A nice comfortable retreat

Our family came up and stayed here for my sons graduation from URI. It was perfect for what we needed. There was six of us and we had plenty of room. The couches and beds were comfortable and everything we needed was provided. Really good location to the school and also very close to nice beaches which we had time to check out while we were there

We had a pleasant stay in this property and the location is very nice. The only issue is we had some trouble with contacting the property manager regarding the trash.

The house had a lot of cob webs throughout it. The upstairs shower had mold. The beds were mad with only 1 sheet instead of 2. The house needs some updating and a good cleaning. Otherwise it was a great location and the owner responded in a timely manner.

We enjoyed our stay

Overall the home location was perfect, close to the beach and many local attractions. The cleanliness could be a bit improved in unseen corners, under the beds there was a lot of dust. The washing machine is a plus, because we could wash our towels. Some feedback I have is to clean the carpet on the stairs because it needed a subtle freshening. The couches were a bit worn, but a cover would help make it look newer. Overall this home was cute, location was great just some elements needed to be tweaked to make it perfect. We loved the fire pit area with porch, it was a nice way to spend time outdoors, with the mild temperatures.

Family vacation with two dogs

We had a nice vacation with our three children and two dogs. House had a very musty smell at check in, but with the windows open, it aired out overnight and was fine for the remainder of the week. The house was clean and had plenty of room for the 6 of us that stayed. The dishwasher did not work even after following the directions to reset the trip and to check the breaker. Not a big deal. Nice walk to the ocean lookout point- about a mile. The beach pass was great and got to use it a few times over the course of the week. Overall, a great week!

Great family vacation

My husband and I had our 3 adult children with their spouse/significant others and 2 grandkids (10). It was a special time for us to spend together. Great location for beach, kayaking and biking. The beach pass made parking easy. The home is built into a hill so you can enter via either lower or upper level. Two bedrooms and a full bath plus kitchen and living room are on the upper level and 2 BR and bath on the lower level. The kitchen was fully open to the living room which we liked. The stairs are very steep so us older folks used the upper level front door. The front lawn is level enough for games such as corn hole or badminton. The bathrooms were nice and the home generally well maintained. There is AC though the upstairs bedrooms can get a bit warm when you close the door at night - you may want to bring a fan if it's mid summer and you like to sleep cooler. Would stay here again.

July 4th stay

My family and I enjoyed our stay at this location. We have rented houses at several RI properties throughout the years. Great location and short distance to things we wanted to do and the beach was great with the free parking pass. We didn't realize the main floor was going to be up a very steep stair which was an issue due to half of our party having knee and leg issues and older persons. When we checked in the house it had a quick cursory clean of floors and surfaces, however the walls in most areas had not been washed with hand prints or food, dirt on them. Cobwebs in corners, dust on ceiling unused areas and a load left in the dryer. When I went to fold them and place them away the cuboard I found most items were tossed in the cuboard balled up and several items were still damp. Should have a deeper clean and for the money charged for cleaning. These are minor concerns so overall decent property.

Spacious property for needs

We only stayed one night to attend a family party so were at the property very little. It fit the needs we had. We originally needed 10 people and a dog but no dog and 6 people were all that ended up staying last minute. There were (and still are) dishes in the dishwasher. No idea if they were clean or not. Floors weren't clean, my kids socks had dog and human hair on them minutes after getting there. Have to wash and dry any towels used before you go, which was odd and also an inconvenience since we couldn't use hand towels any more. Stairs to upstairs are VERY steep but fine for us. Overall fine, very expensive after fees especially for off summer season since its near the coast but we had little other choices in the area to accommodate what we originally planned . Hosts graciously let us check in early since no one was checking out that day and very responsive. Overall spacious house and property and 2 full bathrooms were nice. House and furniture a little dated or worn but comfortable.

Decent Westerly Cottage

My family had an adequate stay at the beach cottage. The owner was easy to get in touch with prior to booking and being able to bring our dogs was a plus. Had I read the reviews prior, the steep stairs may have been a concern considering I have a father recovering from cancer treatment and a 6'9" partner, which made getting in and out of the house difficult. The price point is also a bit higher than other weekly rentals in the area, but having A/C*, linens that are provided, and access to a washer and dryer was nice. Had the owner informed me of the 10% discount for cash (a change listed after we booked), I would have been happy to oblige. *Suggestion: Bring fans to cool down the bedrooms at night. I would also like to point out that the "short 1 mile walk to the closest beach" is only accessible during the off-season. This was very misleading. The only beach you have access to during the summer months is over 2 miles away. We ended up driving and made the best of it but would have preferred walking.

Acceptable budget housing

For the price this VRBO is acceptable for people for whom the average offering is expensive. We were within 30 minutes of Mystic CT, Stonington, CT and Watch Hill RI. We had excellent meals in Mystic (The Mystic Diner for Sunday Brunch), the Breakwater in Stonington, CT for Saturday night dinner and dinner Sunday night at the Weekapaug Inn in Westerly, RI. Sunday shopping in Mystic was great. We stick to the shops along RTE 1 in Mystic rather than the Outlets along Rte 95 which were teaming with business. We are familiar with the area and found our lodging in Westerly acceptable. We did not use the kitchen for cooking although it was well equipped. The stairs between the two levels are very steep. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms were very clean. We were disappointed not to be able to use the Amazon Flashstick provided with the 50 inch flatscreen TV in the living room. The hosts should have inspected this equipment because too late we discovered that there were no batteries in the Flashstick's remote control. No spare batteries could be found and even after having messaged the hosts, no further help was offered. It was the only complaint we had. After all, who carries spare batteries when traveling.?
