The Aspen House Summa

Summary:
Modern cabin nestled against National Forest Land

The Space:
The Aspen House is located in a beautiful rural neighborhood and is surrounded by National Forest.  It is just 9 miles to the West Entrance of Yellowstone, making it the perfect base for your vacation!  The cabin has a bedroom with a king bed on the main floor, as well as a loft with a king bed.  The sofa in the living room has a pull out bed, making it very comfortable for 6 adults to stay.  There is only 1 bathroom, but it boasts an instant hot water heater which allows every guest to take a hot shower.  The open kitchen is well equipped to cook your meals and there is a cooler for guests to use to pack a picnic for their daily adventures.  Outside is complete with a deck and BBQ grill.

*Although 4 wheel drive is not required to get to the house, we definitely recommend it for our area from November - April, as road conditions are often "snowpacked and icy".

Fantastic place to stay

What a great place to stay , very clean and tidy when you enter , lovely comfy bed and plenty off extra blankets for cold snowy nights, The cabin has everything you require a BBQ outside Washing Machine and Dryer , small kitchen with dishwasher and plenty of utensils , plates cups etc , room heater which we needed and used everyday .The owner was so easy to deal with responded to my emails quickly .. Coming from Australia and trying to organise our stay was made so easy . Thankyou for a great stay

Yellowstone bound

This cabin couldn't have been better. My family of 4 has a wonderful, comfortable stay at the cabin. My kids loved the upstairs loft area, and the beds were very comfortable. Especially after our long days in Yellowstone. The on-demand water heater was great! No fighting for hot water at all. The kitchen area is pretty small so don't stock up a ton of groceries as there is little storage space. The cabin was very clean and we had no issues at all. If we ever find ourselves back in Yellowstone (I sure hope we do) we'll be coming back to stay at this cabin. You can't beat the beautiful and private surroundings!

Perfect getaway

When I saw the cabin online I knew it was the one I wanted to stay for our Christmas Getaway. Due to COVID my sister and niece couldn't come from Europe, so it was just me and my friend who stayed at the cabin. It was perfect to social distance and still have a great time during COVID. The cabin had everything we needed and it was just a short drive to West Yellowstone and to all the ski trails. We were also able to snowshoe right from the cabin. A big plus was the big fridge and freezer, so we could bring all our food with us. The beds were super comfy and we slept wonderful each night. I can only imagine how wonderful this place must be during the summer time when you can keep the windows open and let the mountain air in. I'm sure, I will be back and stay again at the Aspen House.

Good time but cold

We really enjoyed the cabin . It worked perfect for what we were needing for the weekend. Only a couple issues . The heater stopped working and it got kind of cool until we figured out what the problem was . The manager’s helped us problem solve and got it working again. The oven heats up anything that is in the drawer underneath to the temperature the oven is set on . Burned my fingers pretty good . Other then those things it was a wonderful weekend away !

Charming, Cozy and Spotless!

This cabin was just about perfect for our family of 4. Set amongst the trees on a back road about 15 minutes outside of West Yellowstone, the cabin was picture-perfect quaintness. When we first stepped into the cabin our smiles came out. It was adorable. Polished peeled pine furniture predominated, with a clean, comfy carpet. Everything was shiny clean and seemed new. And the outdoor grill worked beautifully (something we couldn't say about the grill at the other cabin we stayed in for our Yellowstone adventure.) Beds were comfy. There were screened windows and fans to keep the cabin cool in the evening. It had all the appliances and cookware anyone would need. (The wildlife themed pottery-type dishes were beautiful!) The only suggestion would be for a more comfortable sofa. The futon was not all that comfy, and only sat three, so the 4th person had to sit on a pine chair from the dinner table - cute but hard. All in all we LOVED our stay at this cabin and would recommend it to anyone.

I should have rented something else

I’ve stayed in a dozen VRBOs, and have never experienced a home so minimally stocked. This is a hunting cabin for short term use, rather than a welcoming rental. Aspen House is run by a mgmt co., eliminating any responsibility to their tenants. Failure maintenance is the name of the game. Upon arrival, the only toilet is leaking badly. I called their "contact us" number and leave a message. The quick return call goes like this, "Yes, we know all about the toilet problem, it was supposed to be looked at before you arrived yesterday. Just turn off the toilet between uses (water supply) and someone will be out tomorrow evening to look at it." I lay down towels to dry up the leaking toilet, as there are no cleaning supplies. What else is not available? - No pot/dish scrubber for kitchen. - No bleach. - No oil for cooking. - No aluminum foil, wax paper, or plastic baggies. - No left over food from previous tenants: no pasta, oatmeal, coffee, tea, spices (except salt and pepper), or sugar. - No visiting tourist data like pamphlets, maps, or store/restaurant suggestions. - No cheap storage containers for packing food into the parks or your day trip (think snacks or sandwich). - No place to hang clothes (only a short water waders rack). The kitchen and bathroom are tight (like a very small boat), and the furniture is overly large. You get one trash bag for your entire visit. For a week, this was seriously inadequate. The outside light is dinky and practically useless. It illuminates the loft more than the outside. (The non-working flood light would be much better.) The shower wand and holder are not matched, so the wand is precariously placed in the holder. The satellite TV "parental controls" cripple the viewing capability at the TV14 level, parental lockout active, no override codes, no master reset code, no help, only excuses. This does not make for very interesting viewing. Like many rentals, the non-stick pans are non-stick in name only. There's a DVD player, but no DVDs. The sliding glass door screen does not move freely, but is rather stuck. I sent three emails over the course of my visit, and received a response to only one. There was a nearly full propane cylinder in the downstairs bedroom storage area. A BIG NO NO. It was not all bad: Plenty of toilet paper. Two bedside tables for loft. The towels are nice. The beds are fairly comfortable. Great location (fill and fix those dang potholes in the road!). On demand hot water heater

Great Property

Overall, we had a great stay! This property is conveniently located about 10-15 miles from the West Yellowstone entrance, with plenty of amenities like gas stations and restaurants nearby. The only drawbacks were the single, small bathroom and the overgrown weeds and tall grasses surrounding the property. Some landscaping would have definitely improved our experience.

.

We really liked the location, near the west entrance of Yellowstone park, but on a quiet street. The property manager responded right away the few times we needed something. Only giving 4 starts because we had little WiFi access our entire stay. It was very spotty and didn’t connect most of the time.

Piece of Heaven

This cabin was perfect for our family! It was a great homebase after our outings and a nice place on our relaxed day. Close enough to West Yellowstone and the west enterance to Yellowstone, but far enough away that we could enjoy the quiet and nature. We would definitely stay here again! The only negatives we encountered were out of anyones control- 1) the first night we were there it rained the whole evening, and because of that (we assumed), the internet couldnt keep up with streaming on the tv. We tried rebooting the router, that didnt work. Every other day/night, internet speeds were as expected. 2)The bathroom was on the small side. It wasnt unusable by any means, and it worked for us- however just a heads up for someone larger, or above average weight wise.

First Trip to Yellowstone, amazing property

My wife and I took our first trip to Yellowstone and had an amazing trip. The location of the house was exactly what we were looking for with great views and close to town. Would highly recommend The Aspen house for anyone looking for a secluded property with a great homey vibe.

Cleanliness/communication

The property, itself, is very nice. The furniture is made of beautiful, sturdy wood and the atmosphere of the cabin is warming. The things that will deter me from staying here on my next vacation are the following..the front of the refrigerator was filthy. It looked like someone splashed food on it and there were white fingerprints (like someone played in pancake batter and opened the fridge). There was no disinfectant spray or clorox wipes to clean it with so we used soap and water. The microwave was filthy on the outside as well as the inside. All of the silverware in the drawer had to be soaked in hot water before being run through the dishwasher to clean it thoroughly. We went to make fried eggs one morning and the skillet we were going to use was not clean and the carpets were not vacuumed before we got there. I did try to inform the owners about the cleanliness issues before writing this review, but noone returned my call. I felt that if they were paying someone to clean for them that they should know they were being ripped off. The cabin is pretty expensive per night and for that I expected pristine living accommodations, not having to clean before staying!

Sheets weren't clean in downstairs bedroom. Need more lamps in bedrooms with more powerful lightbulbs. Netflix and Hulu continually cut out. We did see a female moose anfnher calf walk along side the cabin which was great!

Stay here! Wish we had stayed longer.

Loved the location of this property, at the end of an isolated road, among the trees. It was quaint, yet a perfect size for our family of five. We made the mistake of only staying two nights though! We wish we could have stayed longer. We spent more time in the cabin than we had originally planned because the park wore us out AND the house was such a great place to relax.
