We had such a great time at Grandpa’s Cabin! The location was perfect for getting into the west entrance of Yellowstone National Park. Plus, you’re a short 10 minute drive into downtown West Yellowstone for shopping, coffee, & food. The cabin is situated right on a pond which is great for seeing wildlife including bald eagles (juveniles and adults), weasels, waterfowl, chipmunks, and even bison in the field across the water. The great expanse of the mountains is breathtaking and the sunrises are awe inspiring. We thoroughly enjoyed the firepit (with plenty of seating!) and took a nice ride in the canoe around the pond.
The name of the vacation home should really be “great place to unplug” - not only because it’s in a beautiful remote location but because you will have no cell service and the WiFi does not work.
We hard a bit of a horror movie experience in the beginning of the trip which included a windstorm and lightning that took down a large tree across our driveway and along with the power line that supplied the cabin. Luckily, the hosts responded quickly and came out to assess the situation and contacted the power company to fix the situation only a few hours later.
Our tip to the hosts would be to supply more candles for power outages and add a hot tub!! Also please purchase a new fridge because the current one has a very loud buzzer noise that goes off every few hours and sounds like a dryer ending signal - which is especially an issue because the upstairs loft be
