About this property
Uniquely Crafted Tree House Rental near Lake Saint Catherine, Vermont
Located near Lake Saint Catherine, Vermont, this uniquely crafted tree house rental compound is a unique and rustic escape. There are two treehouses, one cooking/eating pavilion (running water at sink but only cold. Hot water can be made with large pot on stove), an outside shower (only cold water), a fire pit, an outhouse composting toilet and a toilet in each of the treehouses as well. This is not a shared space. The entire compound is rented to each group whether it is a couple or a larger group.
A few meters from the treehouses is a covered pavilion with running water, a sink, a gas stove/oven, and a refrigerator. Guests will also have a complete set of cooking utensils, as well as a large table for dining. Furthermore, guests will have a natural fire pit to enjoy the setting sun to the west and a lovely outdoor shower to feel at one with the forest.
Everybody loves the idea of a tree house. There is something freeing, natural and connective to our childhood in the idea. Feel the gentle movement of the structure as it sighs with the wind. Imagine a life off of the ground, even if only for a weekend. And with this rental tree house compound, dreams will come true. Guests will enjoy the rich sounds of the woods as it becomes their own living room. A short walk through the woods to a neighboring field offers excellent star gazing as well.
This treehouse rental is organic in its feel and design, with living trees intermingling with the structure inside and out. Made from all local materials or reclaimed elements, it seems out of time as though guests have taken a turn and found themselves in the pages of a storybook.
The Hermit Thrush treehouse practically disappears in the woods like the particularly enchanting song of the namesake bird. The other treehouse, The Morning Dove is larger and serene in its stance among the trees. Guests can perch on the first or second-floor porch and listen to the living woods. The windows all have screens so you can feel the breeze and hear all the forest sounds. There is even a composting toilet right in the tree house for guests' convenience.
Guests should keep in mind that these treehouses are artistic and rustic structures, designed to give a feeling of freedom and organic interaction with their surroundings. Due to these ideals, some safety considerations are not present or reduced. For example, railing heights and spacings are irregular, stair treads and rises are irregular, ladders to bunk beds are free-form, porches and decks are all high elevations over hard surfaces, the terrain around is uneven and steep, hammocks are over uneven and hard surfaces, as well as other considerations not mentioned here. The tree house is not recommended for very young children requiring supervision or for individuals experiencing mobility issues. All guests will be required to sign a waiver of liability upon arrival in order to stay.
The woods in which the tree house resides is a somewhat fragile environment with beautiful mosses, trillium, and jack in the pulpit flowers, so dogs are not permitted since they tend to dig or will feel compelled to chase the multitude of squirrels and chipmunks in the woods which will trample the surroundings. But, feel free to make the case that a particular pet is an old timer that is no longer interested in chasing anything and the idea of digging seems too much like work, and the host might be swayed. In such cases, there is a $50 pet fee.
This rental tree house is available only for dates between June 1 and Oct. 20.
The inside of this Vermont house in the trees is basically the sleeping quarters; all cooking and eating activities are supported in the nearby pavilion which has a four-burner gas stove/oven, full-size refrigerator/freezer, running water (just cold) at the sink. Cupboards hold a variety of pots, pans, utensils, etc. There is electricity and a large dining table. Also under the pavilion is a propane barbecue grill. Outside the pavilion is a fire pit with firewood. There is also a composting toilet near the pavilion.
