The Wellesley is a modest but charming older hotel. The rooms and bathrooms are big and even more important quiet. Jess at the front desk is sweet and welcoming. Don’t expect frills, but a good night’s sleep and convenience to the wharf, shopping and Sky Stadium are a real plus.

We loved our stay at the Wellesley Boutique hotel. A very attractive and spacious room. We especially appreciate the service of the after hours manager who went out of his way to heat up some food for us.
Parking situation was a little unclear and we were not expecting to use a public parking building, with the attached costs.
Middle of downtown. Convenient for hopping to the ferry. Parking in nearby garage so initial luggage haul was a bit cumbersome. Reception was friendly and room had the old time England feel with high ceilings.

This hotel has a charm all of its own in a city with more modern types. The room was everything i could have asked for. Very clean and comfortable with every facility that suited my needs. Throughout my stay i found the staff both friendly and helpful. On an early arrival the reception took care of my luggage and ensured that it was taken to my room and ready for me after check in later on. I was informed that my room was ready by a simple phone call so that i didnt have to hang around waiting. This, i was told, was a standard practice even though i have never had this in other hotels. Be aware that this hotel does not have a room service at this time but there is a cafe on the ground floor although i am sure that uber eats can be ordered from your room phone. Well placed in the CBD close to rail and bus services. If you like your old world comforts, give this hotel a try.

What a delight to see someone maintaining this architectural treasure. Location was so convenient to the train station and Wellington downtown. And the staff was great. It was a short visit but will definitely consider it for a future trip.

Very efficient service, with minimal person-to-person interaction due to my hours. Front door is not too welcoming. Room nice and spacious, if a little worn, but they are updating. Overall I would recommend it.

A lovely quirky old hotel close to railway station and CBD. Spacious, comfortable room with nice antique furniture, comfortable bed, beautiful new bathroom with bathtub as well as shower. But for the price I would have thought they could have reception open beyond 8am-5pm. Swipe card in a locked box to get in after hours. Overall happy with my stay

Struggled gaining access as we were late arrivals and light in entrance porch was not working.
Room was quite comfortable although there was noise from street / building outside.

This classic old building exudes old world ambience with it's wood paneling, marble floors, steampunk elevator and period-appropriate furnishings. It does show the effects of 90 years of wear and tear though they are apparently working through a refurbishment.
The front desk isn't staffed in the evenings, but I received clear checkin instructions before arriving and everything was ready for me. Because of my schedule I didn't see much of the staff but they were always friendly and helpful when I saw them in the lobby as I left in the morning; and my room was always clean and fresh when I returned in the evening. Unfortunately the beautiful bar was closed while the building is undergoing renovation though I was able to poke my head inside. It will be a real treat to see this place when it's fully restored and I'm looking forward t to sipping a whiskey while sitting in a leather wingchair in front of the grand fireplace in the bar!

Beautiful decor, excellent service at Reception and much appreciated quiet air-conditioning. I was in 302, which was very peaceful. There was a lively function on downstairs but I heard nothing from my room. Lovely clawfoot bath and thick, fluffy towels, too. It's a great place to get a good night's rest.

I like the old world charm of the hotel - the curtains, lift and ambience. Less appealing was the threadbare carpet and very squeaky doors. I’d still recommend though!

Great old property with heaps of charm. Some quirks that you have to expect with a building of it's age but we loved it anyway.
The staff were super helpful and very friendly. We will definitely stay again!

Rubbish Service.
Our family suffered a double death, we needed to support other family members and could not travel to Wellington. When I phoned and cancelled I was advised that there would be no refund ($388). We are not a well off couple, I am a public servant and my husband a fulltime adult student, this trip was a treat away and one which we had been saving for from over six months. So much for consideration, The Wellesley Boutique Hotel has benefited from our hard work for no effort on their part.

Dear Yvonne,
As we said on the phone we are very sorry to hear about your loss.
But we had only 4 hours' notice of your cancellation.
At the time you told us you have to go to a funeral due to COVID nothing about a double death or a COVID-related death cause that would have been all over the news. This is our hotel policy and we would have needed 48h notice for free cancellation.
Also did the hotel not benefit from it since we were unable to resell the room.
I hope you will recover quickly from your loss,
