The house was awesome! Steep driveway but we did find in my expedition! House has everything you need for everything! Cooking, baths, washing dishes to washing clothes! The cold water takes forever to run in washer but it got the job done! Will be staying in house hopefully many times in the future! Quiet and peaceful up on the mountain! Would recommend it for sure!

Our family of four had an awesome winter ski trip to this cozy cabin! We were initially a little worried that there was no central heating but the wall unit in the living room ended up keeping the house at a good temp and was not an issue at all. Beds were firm and comfortable, all appliances in the kitchen worked as expected and there was ample counter space to store our groceries & snacks. Good showers and hot water. The only suggestion is to improve the shower lighting in the master bedroom. May be too dim for some but we were fine. We also appreciated the little things - playable guitars on the wall that our musical family enjoyed, end tables everywhere with USB/power outlets for our phones, shoe rack by the door, games & books, etc. The cabin also had lots of items & games for younger kids (although ours are 12 & 16 and didn’t need them) - wooden trains, toy cars, books, pack-n-play. There was even an office desk in the master closet with an external monitor for those remotely working. Excellent convenient location to Cattaloochee Ski area just up the mountain. Also a 48 minute drive to Asheville for a fun day trip. (French Broad Chocolate factory tour, Momentum Art Gallery, Pinball museum, Moogseum, Mast General Store)All in all, an awesome place and we’d definitely come back!

Loved the Fire Pit area!

The house itself was clean and comfy. One room was cramped with 4 people and their stuff. The fire pit was fabulous! It was set up with everything you'd need for a fire, enough chairs for everyone (we needed 8), wood, lighter and a beautiful view of the night sky. The driveway took some navigation to get up from a right turn in a larger vehicle. The turn is sharp and steep and there's no warning in the description or directions. Also, you have to haul off your own trash 😞. We didn't find this out until the night before we were to leave. The house and pit are 4-5 stars, but the driveway, view and trash changed it to 3 stars.

Loved the fire pit area

Pros: The house itself was comfy and as described. It had just about anything you could possibly need for your stay. The fire pit area is very nice along with a great view of the night sky. They provided wood and enough chairs for everyone in your party. They also have it priced pretty reasonable.Cons: The driveway is very steep and hard to make a right hand turn into it, if you have a larger vehicle and not mentioned anywhere in the description. They don't clean out the bottom of the gas BBQ grill, fire hazard. When the AC quit working, they weren't very eager to fix it. I almost felt like they were trying to blame us for it being broken. The room with the bunk beds is cramped for 4 people. And lastly, the pictures of the property the house sits on are deceiving and there are no amazing views.

Needs improvement

Upon arriving at Elk Valley it looked abandoned, the grass was at least a foot tall. Upon entering the home we immediately noticed the back door was wide open and the screen door lock was broken. My boyfriend quickly had me wait in the car so he could search the home and make sure it was safe. The inside of the home is very nice and comfortable. The photos of the view are deceiving and disappointing as the only good view is from a secondary small deck off to the left of the porch that was overgrown and unaccessible. The home is centrally located to all the shopping and restaurants in maggie valley and a short drive to Gatlinburg. According to the guest book the owners live in Florida and I assume they will be very disappointed to know the management company has not kept up the property as it should be.
