Charming English basement apartment in historic Dupont Circle

Enjoy this charming 1br/1ba (sleeps 2-4+) English Basement apartment with private entrance in a historic 1890 Townhouse within walking distance of Dupont Circle, Logan Circle and the U Street Corridor. This tastefully furnished apartment has one bedroom with a king size Tempurpedic bed, a queen size sleeper sofa, plus several inflatable beds of various sizes. It's the perfect location for a business trip or a visit to DC's many incredible sites. And I don't charge a cleaning fee! I’ve lived in the main house above the apartment for over 20 years, so I’m happy to answer questions about the area and offer suggestions for your stay.

The apartment is a stone's throw from dozens of restaurants (6 with Michelin stars!), shops, clubs and within easy walking distance of two Metro lines. There's no off-street parking for the unit, but free temporary residential parking can be arranged for visitors to take advantage of the plentiful street parking in the neighborhood.

Historic Stay Near Dupont Circle

This was a wonderful base for exploring D.C. Just blocks from excellent restaurants and transportation. Beautiful neighborhood in the city.

Great location for Dupont Circle and U Street area. Many restaurants on 14th St. and Aslin brewery 1 block away. Ustreet metro 9 minute walk. Plenty of room and host Frank is just fantastic.National mall is 1.7 miles south or 37 minute walk according to Google Will stay again for sure.

'24 vacation with my minis

Weekend Getaway

The property is well maintained and conveniently located in a trendy neighborhood. There are several public transportation options within walking distance of the location. Many historical sites are within 20 minutes away. Frank is a responsive host who has thought of almost everything. The informational binder answered a lot of questions first timers might have and Frank thought to include Metro cards (for public transportation). We enjoyed our stay and if we go back to the DC area we would stay there again.

Excellence In DC

We had a great time visiting DC and a significant factor contributing to this was our stay at Frank’s apartment. Its location is in a quiet, traditional neighborhood that allows pleasant walks to a multitude of eating establishments and grocery stores. It is also a walkable distance to many historic sites including the White House. Frank is a great host who is excellent at responding with clear, comprehensive communications. In addition, Frank went the extra mile by providing his help to ensure our experience was excellent. We highly recommend a stay at Frank’s apartment when visiting our nation’s capital.

Convenient and well-located

This apartment is small, but very cozy and well-located. In one direction one can find a plethora of restaurants and stores, in the other, a nice variety of architectural and historical landmarks. It's not right there (you need to figure out how to go to the mall) in the thick of things, but it's still part of a separate neighborhood, very genteel and still trendy. We enjoyed our stay, walked a lot to and from the place, shopped and dined around and away from it, and had the great fortune of a generous and kind host, Frank, who was patient and understanding (and replies to messages very quickly!). We want to return to DC, and want to stay in this place again. Very highly recommended!!

A great place to stay in DC!

Our family of four (my spouse and our two daughters, ages 13 and 9) stayed in Frank's basement apartment in June 2025 and we had an absolutely delightful time. Check in was very easy, the apartment was very well-stocked (thankfully, he even had umbrellas! We had forgotten to bring ours and they definitely came in handy!), and the location was excellent! We found it very easy to get around from where we were whether by walking, biking (there are so many great bike lanes!), or metro. There was a Trader Joe's just a few blocks away along with a number of restaurants, cafes, and shops. We felt very safe in this neighborhood and took frequent evening strolls around. I would highly recommend this space to friends visiting the city!

Great location

This listing was great for us as it was close to so many restaurants. Walking distance to the Metro and bus stops. We left our car parked in the same spot all week as we walked or used the easily accessible public transit. The home itself was very organized and detailed instructions left by the host with every question we could have had.

Quite nights in the city

Favorite things - the host's quick response to inquiries, location to bus line and restaurants, and free parking. Nice size for a couple and a comfortable bed, too.It is a basement apartment with little natural light and a little damp. It was clean, but would benefit from a deeper clean.I would definitely stay here again if in the area.

Cozy & Convenient!

Loved staying at this property! An under 10 minute walk to the Green Line station and many restaurants. Parking was easy to find and the owner was very helpful in getting the permit and the check-in / check-out process. 10/10 would definitely recommend staying here.
