Multiple Disappointments- Long but worth the read
Firstly, the listing stated the pet fee is $50. What it doesn’t say is that it is $50 per day with very strict pet rules. Secondly, the listing shows that laundry facilities are provided but they don’t tell you that you cannot use them unless you are staying at least 4 nights. We had a group of 16 staying 4days/3 nights and she would not make an exception. We wouldn’t have even known that we could not use them had I not asked if detergent was provided. I’m not sure why you would list this as an amenity if it has hidden stipulations. I will say that after I found about the two things above two days before arrival, she offered to let us cancel before arrival. Unfortunately, we were traveling out of state for a funeral and were not able to find other accommodations 2 days prior to arrival. The following complaints were after arrival. I had asked her to confirm she would have enough towels and bedding to accommodate our group of 16. When we arrived we noticed that there were only 5 towels. She did end up going to buy us more but I’m not sure why the house states it can accommodate up to 20 with only 5 towels. The listing stated that 3 air mattresses were provided. When I asked here where the 3 air mattress was, she asked me to provide screenshots of where the listing showed 3. She simply stated that was an error and didn’t apologize or even reply when I stated that we were counting on all 3 that were listed. We ended up having to go buy another one ourselves. I definitely wouldn’t say that this was a fully stocked kitchen either. There were only 3 forks, 5 spoons, 5 mugs, and a few plates. We had to go buy all plastic wear as there is no way we would have been able to feed our group of 16 at each meal with what was provided. There wasn’t even a toaster. The house was overall not very clean at all. The counters and most dishes were sticky/dirty, the floors were dirty and stained, there was a chair with a duct taped leg, and there was even a frying pan in the cupboard with fried egg in it still. We were definitely frustrated with the added expenses b/c this was not a planned vacation. We all drove far to attend a funeral and the last thing we wanted to deal with was a dirty house that didn’t provide what was advertised. The poor communication from the host was also very disappointing and she did not once apologize for any of the inconveniences. . Overall it was an incredibly misleading listing. The house itself would be nice if improvements are made.
