The English Writer ‘s Cottage is a Wonderfully Charming and Unique home! The “English Writer’s Cottage,” earned its name for its English Cotswolds meets Santa Barbara bungalow aesthetic, & sits perfectly situated in the historical and picturesque Austin Ave/ Castle Heights neighborhood, just 3-5 min from Baylor & Downtown Waco. Don’t miss this special house!
When you walk in, you are greeted with 12 foot coffered ceilings and cozy rooms for all your guests. Wonderful touches abound where modern meets old world. Jill Mashburn Barrett, creator of the world famous Common Grounds coffee shop by Baylor University, and The Falcon +Owl vintage home goods & interior design studio, has added her special touch of keeping true to the homes vintage, bungalow roots, while weaving in modern design features to make your stay truly enjoyable.

Wonderful place for a weekend with friends

Our group had a cozy and comfortable stay. The home is spacious and perfect for small groups, with plenty of room for everyone to spread out and relax. The sleeping arrangements were incredibly comfortable. The indoor and outdoor seating areas were fantastic — we loved having the option to relax inside or enjoy the fresh air outside. Overall, it was a perfect place for our group to come together, reconnect and enjoy a memorable getaway. I would absolutely stay here again.

Beautiful property with exquisite furnishings & art. The home is spacious, has plenty of seating & a fabulous kitchen that is fully stocked to prepare meals. We will absolutely rent this again for future Waco trips! Loved the backyard and we enjoyed sitting around the fire pit!

The house was in a great location, the host was quick to reply when questions came up, and we enjoyed the space itself. The AC stopped working on a Saturday night, and the host was able to get someone out to fix it immediately. Such amazing service on all ends! Thanks for a great stay!

This is our second time staying at this property in Waco! It’s quirky, cute, comfy & eclectic full of the most unique art and furniture! The location is safe & close to everything. The beds are super comfy & the kitchen is fully stocked. Really you have everything you need. Lots of seating for big groups & the hosts are easy to get a hold of and very helpful if you need anything. We will most definitely be back again! Charming cottage

The Writer's Cottage is a beautiful and charming property. The decor is gorgeous - beautiful antiques, interesting artwork and unique accessories. The open kitchen is unbelievably beautiful and functional. It is definitely the central gathering place. The property owners were excellent hosts. We had an issue with the TV and Josh came to the house to take care of it. It was a perfect girls weekend getaway. Thank you, Josh and Jill.

Great little cottage

We loved the cottage! Very spacious and comfortable. It was also very close to everything we wanted to see (the Zoo/the Silos/Spice Village). We spent most of the weekend in the kitchen around the huge island. Hosts are great. Check in and check out was super easy. We will definitely stay again.
