"We loved our stay at this property. The hosts were so friendly and welcoming. They provided us with a delicious dinner on out first night and waking up to breakfast each morning was such a treat. Everything is home made and fresh! I also had a lovely massage which I would highly recommend. The pool area is relaxing and picturesque, while our gite had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We hope we can come backa again soon, "

"Staff were all very kind, helpful and professional. Hotel was clean and rooms smaller need some updating but comfortable. Breakfast in the hotel lobby was adequate and tasty. Dinner in an adjoining restaurant was reasonably priced and surprisingly good. Parking right out front under big shady sycamore trees. "If I could give more than five stars, I would. Château Hôtel Edward 1er is, without question, one of the finest places we’ve ever stayed. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with genuine warmth and exceptional hospitality. The staff made us feel at home from the very first minute. The property is simply stunning. Rich in history, beautifully restored, impeccably maintained, and incredibly elegant, it perfectly blends luxury with authenticity. Everything is spotless, and even the signature scent throughout the hotel adds to the unforgettable experience. The grounds are magnificent. The gardens are beautifully kept, the swimming pool is peaceful and inviting, and every corner of the property reflects the care and attention devoted to maintaining this exceptional château. The location is perfect, right in the heart of the beautiful medieval village of Monpazier, with its charming market and picturesque streets just steps away. Private parking is convenient, making it an ideal base for exploring the region. Every detail exceeded our expectations. This is far more than a hotel—it’s an experience. Without hesitation, it’s one of the very best places you can stay in the Dordogne, and we can’t wait to return. Highly, highly recommended."

"The house and garden are great and recently renovated on the ground floor but retain old charm on other floors. It is a quiet location in the village but easy to access anywhere. The house is very old and has ancient wooden spiral stairs to all floors, which I found difficult, especially to the top floor as there is a very large step; young children and anyone with leg issues may struggle. As may not be clear from the details the only toilet and bathroom are on the ground floor. This is an ideal base to explore the village and the area, everything in the village is a very short walk away on the flat. The free car park is a minutes walk as is the Spa shop, with bakery, bars cafes and restaurants 2 minutes away. The village comes alive on a Sunday for the market and then needs a couple of days to get over it when it is very quiet. The owners have done an exhaustive guide to the house and area and responded very quickly to any queries."

"Lovely house, pool and location - directly on the bank of the Dordogne river. Really peaceful and quiet village, coming from the Home counties the lack of aeroplane noise and sirens was so refreshing. The small town of Lalinde has all you need and a lovely restaurant in the town square. We spent a day in Bergerac, visited Castelnaud, Sarlat, Tremolat, Limeuil, Le Buisson, Beynac & Lascaux - Recommend all of them. A canoe trip along the river was a real highlight for us, there is so much to do. Don't overlook a wine tasting tour, organise your own, all of the vineyards are super welcoming. The whole area is so clean, friendly and welcoming, try speaking a little French, it goes a long, long way.In short, we had a fantastic two weeks at a lovely, large property. Thanks you."
