Historical 18th century building. Part of Udaipur history. Good hospitality . Ok food. Breakfast included and well made. 4 or 5 choices. Sewage smell in the room and lobby .Nearby construction . Room windows opened to a 5. 4 shut permanently. 1 opened to a white wall in .. No view at all of roads or lake Pichola from some rooms in the hotel. 2 Ms day occupancy was 5/35.. they could have upgraded me to a room with a view. They didn’t.

The amenities listed on the website were not available at the property. The Expedia website states that there is parking available. But when I reached near the property I found out that cars cannot get to 2 mile radius of the property. They have a boat available which you can use only during check in and check out. Otherwise there is no way venture out of the hotel on other days. Cars/taxis/auto/bike nothing comes to 2 mile radius of the property. There is no option but to walk. Also internet is very bad. So no connection to outside world. No internet no transportation.

Jagat Niwas - A Hidden Beauty
The stay was pleasant and memorable. The location of the stay is in the heart of Udaipur and thus makes it a great choice. The property is well maintained. On top of everything, the service is a show stealer.

Highly recommended!
This is a lovely hotel right at the main lake of Udaipur. It is an oasis in the bustling city. My room was very spacious and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful Dinner on the open roof-top is a real treat.

The ambience and the feel is great but the restaurant service was of low standards . Most of the staff in the restaurant seem very unhappy with few of them smiling . For a boutique restaurant this is not acceptable

Generally very good, and an unbeatable central location. Things that could have been even better: - the wi-fi was a bit patchy - the breakfast was sub-standard for a hotel of this calibre (stale pastries, choice of just 2 flavours of bottled - not fresh - fruit juice,...) - the hot water wasn't centralised, just a heater for each room, meaning limited capacity (perhaps centralised hot water isn't possible in India due to there being no gas pipes for a boiler)

it is a very very white and beautifull structure... with a marvellous view on the Pichola lake... Jagas Niwas Palace is the best hotel around the Pichola lake... the Shiv Nivas Palace was not up to our Expectations.. Lucky the Jagas Niwas Palace, showed us some pictures of the Pichola area view from their Terrace... BEAUTIFULL PROPERTY.

Beautiful palace!
Our stay here was great—the hotel is beautiful inside with a great view of the lake even if you don't have a lake-facing room. It's a great vibe for a great satay in Udaipur. The place is clean and the staff is helpful.

Best hotel in it's class! Incredible location.
This hotel was one of our first experiences in India and it couldn't be better! The location is perfect in every sense - central but tucked away from the chaos of the busy narrow streets and overlooking the lake. Very tranquil and also helped with amazing food!

Exceptional!
An oasis of calm and beauty in this lovely town. Beautiful rooms - really gorgeous! And restaurants overlooking the lake - it couldn't have been more wonderful. It is the most delightful town bustling with energy and colour - one of my favourites in India. And this is a really lovely hotel. Try to get a Lake view room - although the others are very nice too

This hotel turned out to be amazing! The rooms are great! We had a ground floor room and the views of the lake were amazing! The sunset and sunrise from the room is just epic! The food was great! The location is oerfect if you want to visit city palace. Its less than five minutes from the hotel. Glad we stayed here!

The location & view from the hotel is impressive! We absolutely loved the sunsets from atop the restaurant. The hotel staff was kind, responsive and respectful. Room could have a better view (ours was facing the wall, with pigeons around) - could change the window location. Veg food options, specifically for Indian food is limited but tasty. Overall, would highly recommend this place.

The location is exceptional with day beds in every alcove overlooking & down onto lake Pichola. Still being refurbished (late Oct 2018) there was lots of painting still going on & a strong smell of paint everywhere & knocking & hammering going on (not at night or early morning thankfully). Our room was a suite at rooftop level & beautifully & luxuriously decorated but no wardrobe or drawer or hanging spaces! Also hot water was a bit inconsistent. The breakfast menu included in the BnB price was mean - you had to go a la carte for anything interesting & the service at breakfast was very slow - stressful when you have to get away early for flights,etc. Dinner was fantastic - really delicious & good service. Watch out for the very persistent pashmina seller whose shop is right at the hotel entrance - we spent 2 days attempting to dodge him! You wont be disappointed if you stay here but a few things should be improved to warrant the price.

The hotel condition is good. The location is excellent. From our bay widow we could see the lake and, the magnificent, Lake Palace. Staff were fine. But the breakfast was poor limited varieties.

Somewhat overrated
Overrated, overpriced and not really value for money I'm not entirely sure why this hotel gets such positive scores. It's fairly basic at inflated prices. True, the courtyard is nice, flower petals etc. The rooms are clean, the shower's awful, and the uniformed staff, who look like they are on leave from the army, are nice (but generally after a tip - very pushy). The hotel itself is reasonably attractive, I suppose, but the photos are misleading to some extent. It's a bit of a mixed bag really and the 'heritage' rooms are not in any sense amazing - fairly ordinary in my view. My 'heritage room' smelt like pigeons. The bathrooms are dated and, as I mentioned, the shower is not great. I heard one guest saying to reception that they had had no hot water for two days! Breakfast is good, and so is the overall restaurant service at breakfast though one suspects another tip is required. Don't expect a huge welcome at reception and there is an overall, but hard to define, atmosphere of extortion. Nothing feels genuine. Overpriced and overrated in my humble opinion. There are better value 'heritage' options in Udaipur where most hotels are 'heritage'. Couldn't wait to leave actually.

Beautiful property on lake but small standard room
The common areas of the hotel are very attractive with views across the lake from the breakfast area. The staff on reception, doing the cleaning and maintenance of the property were very friendly. Not so much the staff servicing breakfast who appeared to be tired of life. The rooms were very small with no outside window. The WiFi did not work well in the room but did in the common areas.

Great place to stay
This is one of the best places to stay in Udaipur. It is great value for money, the staff are fantastic and the views are wonderful. I have stayed here twice and recommend it over other more highly priced accommodation near by. Excellent experience!

As the title states, the location is great with a beautiful view of the lake, however, the staff was not able to help with any of our requests, and when my GF got sick they would not even let us check out an hour later...

Charming architectural gem on Lake Pichola
This 29-room hotel is arrayed over 3 floors around an open-air courtyard and rooftop restaurant. The views from the restaurant are spectacular, and the property is truly unique--a locally-owned and operated heritage haveli with many, many charming architectural and design details. However, I think we were given the smallest and worst room in the place--on the third floor next to a service closet. The one small window opened onto the outdoor corridor to the restaurant, so it wasn't very convenient to open the window! While we had no view of the lake, on the upside, the enclosed nature of the room made it very quiet, and we got a good night's sleep.

Great location, clean & hospitable. Loved it.!
We loved our room. Had a glorious view, it was spacious for three of us, and simply decorated. Loved sleeping in the bay window. We ate in the café and the restaurant on the rooftop. Both were good but not the best food we had in India, but perfectly edible. Views were out of this world. Very kind and helpful staff. Wifi was a bit iffy, but who cares. You're on holiday! Nice hotel facing Lake Pichola
We had a Suite room facing Lake Pichola so the view was great. The Jharokas (sofas by the windows) were great and perfect for relaxing while enjoying the beautiful view. The city palace, bagor ki haveli , Jagdish Mandir are all within walking distance. The staff were very nice and the roof top restaurant is a must try to enjoy the sunset.

Lovely heritage hotel in a good location
Location of the hotel is near to all the places of interest, either walkable or a short rickshaw ride away. Excellent view over-looking Lake Pichola from both our room and the Restaurant. Food is ok, but the view and the seating compensates.

This hotel is perfectly situated on the lake and has an excellent view from the room and the rooftop restaurant. The staff were nice and helpful. There many good bars, shops, and restaurants in the area as well.

Amazing views from the rooftop restaurant
The views from the rooftop restaurant are not to be missed. Our room was clean and comfortable and this property has loads of character and charm. It's location in the old city makes for some good walking and shopping but the narrow and windy streets make it hard for taxis to navigate. Hire a motor rickshaw just outside the old city if you have lots of luggage.

A beautiful quiet oasis from the madding crowds!
Jagat Niwas was great respite from the madness of India. We had a garden room at the back, but we still felt special and spoilt in the beautiful surrounds. The rooms were simple but lovely and the bathroom was spacious. The staff were friendly and helpful. Staff kept the hotel immaculate. We felt really special and relaxed in this hotel. The restaurant and rooftop were fabulous overlooking Lake Pichola... We didn't need to go anywhere if we didn't feel like it as they had vistas to die for. My husband could birdwatch from the rooftop. It was perfect for us!

Excellent hotel!
The hotel was at an excellent location with great views. The staff was great, the hotel was absolutely clean and was beautiful. The entrance to the hotel is quite narrow but that's the price you pay for a lake side hotel. The hotel is in a central location in the midst of a bustling market and was within walking distance of quite a few sights.

Really a Palace and out of this world
Out of this world. I have travelled worldwide over the years and stayed in many different styles of hotels, mostly booked through hotels.com. This is the best hotel I have ever stayed in. It was special from the moment I arrived to the moment I left. The location is excellent, on the lake, the room was a good size with a large wet room, both spotlessly clean. The views from the restaurant and rooftop restaurant were spectacular and the food superb. It really is a Palace with every member of staff smiling, wanting to help and nothing was to much trouble. I arrived at 8am and was shown to my room straight away and was permitted a late check out for half the nightly rate. For the price paid exceptional is not a strong enough word to describe the Jagat Niwas Palace. I do not believe there is anywhere in Udaipur which could surpass it.
