Casita Milagros - A Jungle Tree House

A 20 minute drive to the Caribbean beaches of Tulum, Casita Milagros is located in a small private jungle community that is secured by a front entrance gate. Elevated among the trees in a high canopy jungle, this completely sustainable queen bedded room has windows on all sides bringing the outdoors in, and is equipped with a ceiling fan, mosquito netting and bathroom. It features an outdoor hot water shower surrounded by tropical plants to ensure privacy and an outdoor kitchen with a 2 burner gas stove top and sink.

The easily accessible rooftop is a beautiful place to watch the toucans and spider monkeys that often visit in the early evening. Twilight brings shades of deep blue to the jungle sky and a signal to mother nature that bedtime is near. Animals traversing the treetops in search of their nests provide a symphony of sound just before the spray of starlight quiets all.

After lounging on the white sand beaches, swimming in the turquoise blue ocean waters, visiting the Mayan ruins of Tulum or Coba, shopping in Tulum Centro, and exploring the nearby Mayan villages, Casita Milagros is a tranquil retreat.

LOVE LOVE LOVED it. Like the ad says. Very quiet. Very private. Very much in the jungle. Mile and a half drive down a rocky fun windy road (any car can make the drive but an suv is a better ride) the tree house is behind the main house up some stairs. Everything was clean and minimal which is just what we were looking for. Pepe was super cool too! We saw 3 monkeys swinging overhead jumping thru the trees. And a Toucan! The birds were wonderful. Laying in bed listening to the jungle noises was a major highlight! We stayed a wk but wish we booked to stay longer. We will definitely be back! Clayamma was a gracious host and super helpful. We took a day trip to chichen itza and swam in a few cenotes. We snorkels with turtles in Akumal and rented bikes in Tulum to explore the beaches and restaurants.

We had an amazing experience staying in the casita. Clayanna was so nice and went above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of. The sounds from the jungle during the night were very soothing, and being away from all the city was a plus. But meeting Pepe was the highlight of our stay. Would definitely stay there again! 100% recommend! Thank you Clayanna and Pepe for hosting us!

We had a wonderful few days at casa Milagros. Lucio, the housekeeper, is kind, very helpful, and does a good job of making it still feel very private . Jungle sounds and a comfy bed made sleeping easy, and the morning brought a fun time playing with Pepe.

We loved the treehouse. The weather was a bit warm, but sleeping in the fan cooled treehouse was lovely! Clayanna is an excellent hostess, and Pepe is adorable. We hope to return. Thank you for such a great time! We love the jungle and its peacefulness!

My partner and I had the most wonderful time staying here! We are outdoorsy and love exploring so each day was full of exciting adventures and new experiences. We enjoyed it so much that we extended our stay for three additional nights rather than going to stay in the hotel zone of Tulum. I can’t recommend this home away from home enough. I can’t wait to return!

My husband and I had a wonderful time at Casita Milagros - it was a beautiful setting in the jungle outside Tulum. Everything is carefully and mindfully put together. The bed was soooo comfy I wanted to bring it home with me! The host, Clayanna, is terrific and generous. A unique experience I will always remember...

What an amazing discovery. We just stayed two perfect days at Casita Milagros, a true 'labor of love' deep in the heart of the jungles outside Tulum. To say this was a magical experience would not being doing it justice. The land, the casita and every attention to detail that went into creating this eco-friendly gem are breathtaking. The property is close enough to Tulum and Coba to take full advantage of all they have to offer, and as the other reviewers noted, Clayanna is the ultimate host, and a true inspiration. There is a reason this property has nothing but 5 stars!!! Book now, get here, shut off your phones and re-connect with the universe!

We loved our stay at Casa Milagros! I’m very glad we had an SUV, as the road is a little bumpy, I was glad we had it for multiple reasons around Tulum as well so 10/10 recommend renting an SUV for your stay. Clayanna is so lovely and has the best energy, she gave us wonderful advice and was very respectful of our space. Pepe the coati is one of the highlights of our entire trip, he reminded me a lot of one of my house cats! Very playful and has a mind of his own, he does have claws and teeth to be mindful of but he never was trying to hurt anyone, just playing! He was the sweetest and so fun. The casita was better than I imagined from pictures, very romantic! It is off grid and run by solar power so sometimes that power would run out around 4 am so the fans would turn off but that was never a problem. We loved our stay and are so glad we chose Casa Milagros!

Let me start by saying this property is an very unique and cozy room surrounded in the natural beauty of the most secluded part of the jungle aprox 20 min from Tulum. I totally understand it would be hard to get power to this remote location a mile off the main road. If your a boondocker you're good but we weren't quite prepared for the primitive "camping" limitations of solar / battery power and the overcast days shortening the use of power for the internet or fans on a couple of the warm nights. We did supplement the indoor dry composting toilet with air fresheners and you will also need to buy ice each day for the cooler in the kitchen space and instant coffee since they are no electrical appliances or a coffee pot.I wish VRBO was more upfront when you cohabitate so close to the host. We had a big "misunderstanding" about privacy in the shower area and its open concept on the first day. She corrected the situation by installing a shower curtain and draped her large window overlooking the area.. It did upset my wife so early in the experience and somewhat disturbed our host as they obviously became offended by our request. We had to call a locksmith when the fab went crazy on our rental car (which you will need) and she still seemed upsetWe have rented everything from a mountainside yurt to a seasiside zen cottage and this place did not disappoint with its natural surroundings and it was defintely built with a labor of love to create a unforgettable stay.

We enjoyed the location. It was 15 min drive from tulum. If you want live the jungle experience with all the confort you need, this is the place. We loved that everywhere you look was beautiful. Clayanna created a beautiful and safe environment. The cabin is elevated and built very tight and its mosquito proof for the wet season. Showering outside while hearing jungle birds was awesome and the water was hot. You can also enjoy a stroll on a very quiet jungle road to a communal palapa with hamacs and there is a fire pit area also near the cabin for guests to use. The kitchen area was very handy and the dining/relaxing area very romantic. Clayanna is a caring and wonderful host. She met with us in tulum at our arrival so we can follow her car to her place so we can find it easily. She even took time to get us to show us the monkeys going from tree to tree over the property one night!

Clayanna has created an amazing and serene jungle home. Our stay was such a fun experience. Monkeys in the treetops in the mornings and all the beautiful jungle sounds at night. Clayanna was so gracious and lovely never tired of questions on where to go and where to eat, what to do and see. The location is fabulous for visiting Cenotes that dot the area and not far at all from Coba for a fun day trip to see the ruins. I would highly recommend renting a car which we did so you can have easy adventures around the area. Tulum beaches, shopping and restaurants are a short and pretty 15 min. drive but you can be at close by Cenotes for swimming within 5 min tops. The casita is so charming and all of the artistic touches around the whole property lend to the amazing character of the place. I am incredibly envious that she gets to live there full time! We spent 1/2 our stay here and 1/2 down in Tulum which I think is a great way to get to see all the area. Thank you Clayanna for such a fabulous jungle experience! We hope to be back soon!

Other reviewers have perfectly summarized Casa Milagros but I couldn't resist a review myself. My boyfriend and I just returned from a week in Tulum, four nights of which were spent at this fantastic treehouse. I can't say enough good things about the place and about Clayanna. The place itself is beautifully and simply decorated. It's clean and very tastefully arranged. We loved waking up to the sounds of birds and bird watching each morning while drinking our coffee. Clayanna was so helpful and gave us great recommendations on things to do and see in the area. There are a number of hammocks and chairs to lounge in around the property and just a short walk down the road there's a fantastic community garden and community space. We found it to be a great home base for seeing cenotes, ruins and snorkeling in Akumal as well as enjoying all the fantastic things Tulum has to offer. And the price is right. Thank you, Clayanna! We hope to be back someday.

I loved this home in the jungle, the place is really stunning and the location is totally unique. We were two people and the room was very spacious, you have your own entrance and everything is separate so you do not feel that you are bothering anyone. There is an open air kitchen where you can cook and make breakfast/coffee. The shower is open air and probably one of my favorite things about the place. All the furnishings and finishings are very high end - this isn't an eco-lodge where you're roughing it! Beautiful outdoor hammocks to relax in and a comfortable outdoor deck to have a drink or enjoy the sounds of the birds and monkeys. I do think that you absolutely need to have a car while staying here as the home is about 15km from the beach and maybe 2km deeper into the woods off the main road. Its very easy to get from there to the beach area (plenty of parking down there) and to Coba ruins, Tulum ruins and Chichen Itza. Our host gave us a great recommendation for a fun bar in Tulum town which we enjoyed one of the evenings. The area is beautiful and staying here really gives you the best of both worlds - the business and commercialness of the beach and the quiet and calm of the jungle.

This place is exactly as in the pictures, beautiful. One thing you don't get in the pictures is the scent of the aromatic oil that Clayanna recently used to treat the hand-crafted wooden structure, a scent that fits in perfectly with the eco-responsable design. We stayed in February, and there were almost no insects, at this time no real need for repellent. The bed in the room has a wonderful mosquito netting all round, Clayanna's design and handwork I think. The queen-size bed itself has a good quality new mattress, but a little on the soft side. Personally we prefer mattresses with more support. Although there is no table in the room, preparing food in the outside kitchen and eating outside was a pleasure - there are several chairs and a low table. There is also a very comfortable hammock you can use. In the rainy season, I am not sure that eating outside would always be possible, but ask Clayanna in advance if this is important for you. The 2 km long private entrance trail is great for walking during the day, mostly in the shade and protected from the sun. In sum, we greatly appreciated our stay and the warm welcome from Clayanna.

We spent a glorious week in the casita, waking to bird calls and one morning spider monkeys in the nearby trees. The casita was a peaceful retreat from Tulum center. Given how much environment-destroying development is consuming Tulum and surroundings, we also had the peace of mind that our impact as tourists on the land was about as minimal as possible. The casita is completely solar powered and uses a composting toilet. The low-impact lodging does not, however, mean guests sacrifice comfort: the bed is excellent, enclosed by mosquito netting, which is added protection because the casita itself is double-screened. There’s plenty of hot water for the outdoor shower—you can shower in the moonlight peeking through the giant leaves offering privacy. The outdoor kitchen is well provisioned, though there is no refrigeration, only a cooler. Tucked two miles into the jungle, the casita is hard to find, and you will need to rent a car, but once there, it’s quiet and secure. When we first arrived, the owner met us at a Pemex station a few kilometers away and showed us the way (and was wonderfully gracious when we were very late for our rendezvous : ) We highly recommend the casita for those who care about the environment, love nature, and seek tranquility. But it’s also close enough to Tulum to take advantage of the restaurants and beaches. There are several cenotes on the road between the casita and Tulum. Bonus: a semi-tame coatimundi lives in the main house and is adorable!

We had just spent 5 wonderful nights at the beach in Tulum, so when we hopped into our rental car to drive into the jungle we did not know what to expect !! When we got out of our car we were greeted by 2 monkeys swinging through the trees ! So fun ! We then followed a beautifully decorated path ( at night the path is lit w hanging natural lanterns and lights!) to a stone patio w/ hammock, comfortable chairs. This was our favorite place for coffee in the morning...listening to the jungle sounds, planning our day and using wifi to catch up with friends and family. Then up the stairs to the Jungle House which was beautifully and tastefully decorated. Nicely romantic ! Using the cedar chips in the bathroom worked perfectly, and I LOVE the sink ! We used the outdoor kitchen for making coffee and a simple breakfast, and for cocktails in the evening. It had everything we needed ! Loved the outdoor shower ...showering beneath the giant elephant ear plants ! Everything was just gorgeous! Our first night in the Jungle House there was a thunderstorm ( the only time it rained) and it made the jungle come alive with sounds ... it was truly a fun and unique experience ! The tree frogs were really chirping that night but the sounds became more gentle and peaceful as the rain passed. Thank you Clayanna and Pochi for your cheerful hospitality, information about the area, and making us feel so comfortable and welcome in the jungle !! First, the positive things. This property is on a beautiful piece of land in the middle of the jungle. It is just far enough away from Tulum to feel relaxing, while still being close to everything. We spent some time in and around Coba, and so the location was perfect for us. A group of monkeys also comes through in the mornings and evenings, and we were able to get some excellent photos of one particularly curious young monkey. And the sounds of the jungle at night were amazing! The accommodations are rustic, but we knew that going in and we weren’t bothered by that at all. The biggest drawback to this property is that it is far less private than the listing suggests. Based on the photos and description, I believed that the outdoor kitchen was against the wall of the building we would be staying in, and that the rooftop seating area was on the roof of that same building. I therefor thought there would be quite a bit of privacy. I’m reality, the treehouse you are renting is basically right beside the house that Clayanna lives in. You have to walk around her house to get to the treehouse. Your outdoor kitchen is against the exterior wall of her house, and the rooftop seating area is on top of her roof. And her kitchen window looks out in the direction of the outdoor shower, which is only somewhat obscured by the plants. We were very disappointed by all of this. We felt like we had to tip-toe around in the morning when making coffee, and felt awkward spending much time relaxing at the property. Particularly since Vrbo advertises the privacy of their properties, the description for this property really should have been more clear about the lack of privacy at this property. Finally, we were not a fan of Pepe, the resident coati. He was quite aggressive and actually bit me hard enough to draw blood. I felt bad asking for Pepe to be locked up, and so I didn’t do so, but I also didn’t want to spent time at the property while he was out of his cage. As a result, we ended up spending very little time at the property relaxing. In then, there are some wonderful aspects to this property, but I would not stay there again.

A rustic casita in the jungle. Totally off-grid so the amenities, although quite adequate for our needs, are indeed rustic, which is not necessarily a bad thing. The property is located about 15 kms from Tulum so a car is an absolute necessity. Casita Milagros is within easy reach of Chichen Itzá and the beach at Bahia Principe, both highly recommended day trips.Oh, and be prepared to interact, if you wish, the resident and very friendly pet coati, Pepe. Thanks again Clayanna, we really enjoyed our stay.
