About this property
A sustainable and eco-friendly stone house near the Cinque Terre.
This house is called "Tempo Lento" because here, time flows naturally, unconventionally, without constraints or obligations. Here, life follows the rhythm of the sun and moon, not that of clocks. You will have access to an old stone and wood house, recently renovated with attention to detail and modern amenities, comfortably accommodating four people. The stone house offers a private courtyard terrace overlooking the valley, equipped with a table, chairs, sun loungers, a parasol, a barbecue, and a wood-fired oven for baking bread and pizzas. This is the true gem of the house, where you can try your hand at making bread, pizzas, and the famous Tuscan "panigacci" or Ligurian "fugassa." Inside, comfortable living spaces are spread over two floors (limited accessibility for people with reduced mobility): two double bedrooms, a reading and music room, two bathrooms with showers, a fully equipped kitchen (with espresso machine and coffee maker), and a dining room with a table and chairs. A washing machine, modern appliances, and free Wi-Fi are also included. All household items are eco-friendly (some even homemade) and provided free of charge: bed linens, towels, kitchen utensils, and cleaning products for the house and kitchen. Because we don't just want to rent houses, but rather offer enriching experiences and discoveries, we are offering numerous free activities for 2026: Italian and Tuscan cooking classes, wild foraging, a biodynamic garden, hiking, and an introduction to herbal medicine. Guests staying three nights can choose one activity, while those staying seven nights can select two from the available options. Guests enjoy free access to a book-crossing library, secure bicycle storage, and an e-bike charging station. Some bicycles are available free of charge. Upon arrival, you will find a welcome basket filled with fruit, pasta, bread, olive oil, and coffee. For stays of seven nights or more, you will receive a complimentary bottle of wine and a jar of honey produced by the Il Pungiglione social cooperative, which we support with a portion of your rent. The house is located in the village of Villecchia, 10 km from the motorway and 70 km from Pisa Airport. Here, the paved road gives way to woods and footpaths. The village is entirely pedestrianized, and you will hear only the sounds of the surrounding forest. Park your car in the small square and walk fifty meters, following the signs, to our pedestrian crossing. Please note that the road slopes slightly downhill and that some stairs are present due to the historic nature of the buildings. The climb can be difficult for people with reduced mobility. Villecchia is a small hilltop village in the Lunigiana region of northern Tuscany, situated at an altitude of 400 meters. Fewer than 20 inhabitants live in carefully restored stone houses. The village has no shops or public services. A traditional bakery is located 5 km away. Bread is delivered three times a week, and a van comes once a week with fresh fish caught in the Cinque Terre sea. For other services, you will need to travel about ten kilometers down the valley. Upon your arrival, we will provide you with useful information for a peaceful stay. Villecchia is located in the heart of the Apennine Biosphere Reserve, far from mass tourism. However, within half an hour, you can reach the Cinque Terre National Park and the Tuscan-Emilian Apennine National Park, both very popular. If you wish, we can advise you on how and where to visit them at your leisure. The house is surrounded by streams, footpaths, the Via Francigena and the Via Marchesana—two historic routes—as well as cycle paths. With a bit of luck, you might spot porcupines, wild boars, foxes, badgers, and falcons, as well as wolves, which live permanently in our valley and whose tracks we easily spot. And here we are in Lunigiana: hundreds of small villages and castles, just waiting to be explored at a leisurely pace.who live permanently in our valley and whose traces we can easily spot.
