"Lovely location. Lovely house.Probably do want a car as quite remote. Good location: Stetind is just 30 mins away, ferries to Lofoten really close. Beach at fjord is 5 mins walk across fields. Recommended."

"This is a beautiful campground on a beach with majestic mountains as your backdrop. The cabins are clean, cozy and comfortable. There is a small kitchenette with dishes, a cooktop, fridge and a kettle plus coffeemaker. The host Simona is kind and communicates well. Highly recommend."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Tranøy?
The best area to stay in Tranøy is the immediate vicinity of the Tranøy Fyr (lighthouse), as this is the primary point of interest and offers the most convenient access to the area's main attractions. This area, located on the northern tip of Hamarøy island, is characterised by its distinctive red lighthouse, which has been a guiding light for seafarers since 1864. The lighthouse itself is a landmark, and the surrounding buildings, including the old lighthouse keeper's residence, have been repurposed to offer accommodation and dining. The landscape here is rugged and beautiful, with views across the Vestfjord towards the Lofoten Wall.Couples looking for a serene and romantic escape will find this area particularly appealing. The historic lighthouse offers a unique place to stay, and the remoteness provides a ideal setting for quiet evenings and enjoying the dramatic coastal scenery. The opportunity to witness the midnight sun in summer or the Northern Lights in winter directly from your accommodation is a significant draw. For those interested in exploring the natural beauty and history of the region, staying near the lighthouse provides easy access to coastal walks and the opportunity to learn about the area's maritime heritage.
When is the best time to go to Tranøy?
The best time to visit Tranøy is during the summer months, specifically from June to August, when the weather is mildest and the daylight hours are longest.During this period, you'll experience the phenomenon of the midnight sun, where the sun remains visible 24 hours a day. This allows for extended opportunities to explore the stunning coastal landscapes, go hiking, or enjoy boat trips without the constraint of darkness. The temperatures are generally comfortable, making outdoor activities very pleasant. For travellers who appreciate the convenience of extended daylight for sightseeing and photography, this is an unparalleled experience. For those interested in witnessing the Northern Lights, the shoulder seasons of late September to early April offer the best chances. While the days are shorter and temperatures are colder, the dark, clear nights provide ideal conditions for aurora viewing.
