The best area to stay in Touro is the rural countryside surrounding the village of Touro itself, particularly along the Camino de Santiago.

This area is characterised by its rolling green hills, traditional Galician hórreos (grain stores), and a network of quiet country roads and walking paths. The main village of Touro offers essential services, including a few small shops and local eateries, but the appeal lies in the peaceful, natural surroundings.

Couples looking for a tranquil escape will find the scattered rural guesthouses and casas rurales (country homes) ideal. These accommodations often provide a private, comfortable base from which to explore the local area, whether it's enjoying long walks through the countryside or simply relaxing in a peaceful setting. Many offer lovely gardens and a chance to experience authentic Galician hospitality away from larger towns.

For solo travellers, especially those walking the Camino de Santiago, staying in one of the small hamlets or villages directly on the Camino route, such as Furelos or Arzúa (just outside Touro but commonly associated with this stretch), offers a practical and social option.

The best time to visit Touro for pleasant weather and outdoor activities is during the spring (April to June) and early autumn (September to October).

During these months, you'll experience mild temperatures and less rainfall compared to the summer or winter. This makes it ideal for exploring the natural beauty of the region, such as walking or cycling along the various trails and enjoying the countryside. For couples looking for a relaxed getaway, these periods offer a comfortable climate for exploring the local villages and enjoying outdoor dining without the heat of mid-summer.

Summer, particularly July and August, brings warmer temperatures and is generally drier, making it popular for those who enjoy the heat. However, it can also be busier with local holidaymakers. For families, the summer holidays can be a convenient time to visit, with plenty of daylight hours for outdoor adventures and exploring the local area.

Winter (November to March) is typically cooler and wetter, with more chance of rain. While the countryside remains green and appealing, outdoor activities might be limited by the weather.
