"Beautiful spot to stay and explore that part of Italy. Winding road to get there but worth it. Very comfortable furniture throughout and well maintained. We didn’t cook meals, but the kitchen was well stocked. Just telling friends that you stayed in a castle built in the 1400’s is worth it. "

"Casa Bosco offers the serenity of the country while being just a pleasant ten minute walk from the old town of Chiaveri. We loved the peaceful bustle of life around the open air market often sitting at a table on the edge of the piazza enjoying a capucino and watching the townspeople go about their business. There are also many nearby towns that we fell in love with including Camogli, Zoagli, Sestri Levante and Portovenere. I highly recommend a stay at Casa Bosco."

"Lovely house with incredible views of Rapallo. We did a self check in as we arrived quite late and found it quite easy to find the property and let ourselves in. The house is on a hill top and the road is a bit narrow but doable even in a fairly big car. The house was spotless, clean bedlinen and towels were provided. One of the previous reviews mentioned the oven was broken, we were very pleasantly surprised to find a brand new oven which works perfectly. Overall we had a very nice time and...

"A charming house, tastefully decorated and well equipped, with stunning sea views. Monica is a super communicator, recommending beautiful sights and restaurants too. We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning soon."

"We truly enjoyed our stay at this cozy home, which provides a serene setting perfect for relaxation. However, it's worth noting that the driveway leading to the home is quite steep and narrow, with a rock wall on one side and a significant drop on the other. For those considering this property, we recommend assessing the driveway conditions, especially if you have a mid-size vehicle, as maneuvering can be challenging. Overall, it’s a lovely getaway that we appreciated!"

"This was the best weekend of our lives! Mereta Castle is pure magic — the kind of emotions you simply won’t experience in any other place. We were deeply impressed by the warmth and care from the host and his manager. The house is incredibly beautiful, full of family history going back generations. The garden is so well-kept, and the view of the mountains and the sea is simply breathtaking. If we could give it 100 out of 10, we would, without a doubt! We wholeheartedly recommend this place — whether you’re coming as a family or as a couple. We’ll definitely be coming back here again and again!"

"A Slice of Paradise at Oltremare Guesthouse Our stay at Oltremare Guesthouse was, simply put, perfect from start to finish. From the moment we arrived, Stefano and his wonderful family extended a warmth and welcome that made us feel less like guests and more like cherished members of their own family.Their hospitality went above and beyond, with Stefano and his family offering a wealth of recommendations for local sights and hidden gems that only true locals would know. These insights proved invaluable, guiding us to experiences we would have undoubtedly missed otherwise.The culinary delights at Oltremare were a highlight. Breakfasts were a plentiful feast, featuring delicious home-cooked dishes crafted from local produce, much of it sourced directly from their own gardens. We were also incredibly fortunate to enjoy two dinners on their terrace, an experience that was nothing short of amazing, offering breathtaking views and exquisite flavors. A truly unforgettable memory was the boat trip to Portofino with Stefano himself, a personalised touch that made our visit even more special.Our room was a testament to their meticulous care: spotless, impeccably maintained, and boasting incredibly comfortable beds that ensured a restful night's sleep.Perched on the hillside overlooking Lavagna, Oltremare Guesthouse offers a truly peaceful and idyllic setting. The evenings were particularly magical, spent watching fireflies dance in the twilight."

"The property was quite difficult to get to and that wasn't made clear in the description. We were driving a rental car with a clutch. The streets were extremely narrow, winding, hilly and there were many hairpin turns required, particularly to get up the very steep driveway. I'm not sure your average driver could have managed very well. Additionally, to get to the house from the parking area required going up a total of 57 steps. I could see this would be a terrible problem for many visitors. That needs to be communicated very clearly.The house itself was nice but it could be managed much better. I've never stayed in a rental property in Italy that did not provide some sort of small "welcome basket" that might include coffee, bread, jam, other items that would at least get the exhausted traveler past the first morning. This house had nothing and unfortunately, the coffee machine (a Nespresso) was broken and we didn't discover that until the following morning. Also, the house didn't provide any information on the local surroundings such as stores, restaurants, shops, ferry or train schedules or even how to work the TV. On our first day, we lost power. A following day, we had no hot water. Even though it turned out to be a very easy fix (pushing a reset button on the hot water heater) the property manager took 3 days to respond. The light in the kitchen was out and that never got fixed while we were there. "

"This was the hidden gem of our whole trip. We were not expecting the absolute over the top hospitality provided by the owner Fulvio. The passion and wiliness to provide an above average stay was unrivaled. The room was very nice and comfortable, and with the attention to detail from Fulvio, you had everything you would ever need at your disposal. The views from this place were beyond words. The drive up was amazing, and not for the faint of heart as the single lane road was twisty and with steep drop-offs. Can not recommend this place more if we tried. The breakfast was also very over the top and delicious. And to top it off, the lemon tree by the spa was my partners favorite part."
