The Location: Queens Lake is a pure, crystal clear lake reservoir on Winding Stairs Road. The lake is a fish hatchery stocked with trout and bass annually. It’s shoreline has a handful of private homes and cabins, as much of the area around the lake is owned and managed by the U. S. Forest Service and the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission.
A short 10 minute drive from the cabin you will find the Nantahala river that tumbles down a picturesque mountainside drive in spectacular cascades and waterfalls, along with rivers and streams for trout fishing and world-class river rafting and kayaking on the Nantahala River. You’ll be in great company for fishing or playing on the water in one of the summer’s hottest spots!

The Nantahala Outdoor Center (NOC) is a beautiful 25 minute drive from the cabin and offers guided outdoor services, whitewater rafting excursions, zip lines, jeep tours, restaurants, and more! Channel your inner cyclist at the Tsali Recreation Area boasting numerous mountain biking trails for the thrill-seekers. If you're up for a day in town, drive 35 minutes northeast to Bryson City! Spend the day browsing the shops, alive with art galleries, restaurants, train depot, and the Heritage Museum. Take a train ride on the Great Smoky Mountains Railways. Our second year staying here and it was another amazing week! The cabin is gorgeous, clean and provides all the essentials. The host is very friendly and easy to contact. Always a great experience
Beautiful home with an amazing view of the lake. Enjoyed morning coffee with the view and kayaking around the lake in the afternoon. Found a great spot to swim with a rope swing.
We had a quick getaway to this wonderful cabin tuck away in the mountains! Our son really enjoyed catching trout out of the lake and the views are great!
Awesome, perfect central location for all of our activities. Property was clean, quiet and peaceful. Would stay here again. It was perfect for my family.
Beautiful location and beautiful view!! Wish the access to water was a little more accessible, however one of my favorite locations in years. By far, a favorite on VRBO!!
Super nice cabin, clean and had everything we needed. Would not hesitate to stay here again which is the best compliment!! Manager Tracy is really great at her job and on top of whatever small issues we had.
We loved the home, layout and the lake! There are kayaks to borrow and the fishing is great! We loved sitting on the deck enjoying coffee. We would definitely dtay here agsin. The wine
This home was perfect for our family of 6. It was spacious and secluded. Our boys love to fish and we come the area 1-2x a year and this cabin had everything we needed. Host was very responsive and even dropped off marshmallow sticks when we asked if any were available. Highly recommend!
Beautiful home in quiet area with plenty of water sports, and good fishing. Close to the the smoky mountains. Happy to have made this trip. FWD vehicle recommended for steep driveway.
The cabin was a great place to spend family time and actually relax, which isn’t a word I really know. Everything was wonderful and the property manager was very responsive to our questions. Thank you for sharing your home ❣️
Had a great stay cabin was beautiful. Tv in the 3rd bedroom didn’t have remote so the kids couldn’t use it and tv in 2nd bedroom had a problem with the sound. Beautiful views of the mountains and lake. Cabin was very clean. We had a nice time and made some great memories..
A treasured vacation from start to finish - truly a trip we will never forget. The Nantahala area is beautiful beyond words and the cabin was one of the cleanest and most well-appointed we have ever booked (and we travel to NC a lot!) Do not hesitate on this booking. You will not regret it. Easy to communicate with property manager, days worth of activities nearby (hiking, rafting, fishing, GSMR, GSMNP, boating), we swam, fished and kayaked in the Queens Creek lake. The perfect vacation.
This property is spotless and the perfect haven for someone needing a break in the mountains.
The property manager was fantastic and even arranged for us to check-in earlier due to a horrible cabin experience we had elsewhere - we were SO THANKFUL they did this.
The layout of the home is perfect, kitchen is well-appointed, and it truly is the most well-maintained properties we have stayed out.
Wi-Fi was sufficient for movies, and I was very surprised to see a permanent cell booster installed at the home.
For sure rebooking this property to escape and stay near family again.
This property provides a great location for peace and quiet, beautiful scenery, and a spotless home to stay in.
A true mountain cabin, beautifully decorated, comfortable, view of mountains and the lake. The lake is crystal clear, full of fish, and not crowded with boats and people. Very enjoyable.
Wine frig and wine provided, fully stocked kitchen with all the things needed. Owner very responsive to all of our questions.
I highly recommend this home.
Beautiful cabin and area. Pictures and description were spot on. There was plenty of space for my family to spread out and I have 3 teenage boys so that is saying a lot. They enjoyed the lake and kayaks, didn't have any luck fishing but it wasn't for lack of trying. I appreciated the large kitchen with cabinet space for putting groceries away.
We loved the quiet, out of town location, but still were able to drive to near by hikes, to the marina for a boat rental, and to NOC for mountain biking. We didn't have any trouble with the driveway, but a smaller car or SUV might. Just be aware. Our Expedition was fine even in the rain.
We would love to come back.
The house was great. Everything was extra clean. The only reason I’m giving a 4 star instead of a 5 star is the driveway. It is a bit steep and long. We had to get speed before entering the driveway to get up it. Also there is a steep ledge in the front yard. If young children aren’t paying attention they could roll off. Honestly, it is the mountains so it isn’t really a big deal. The view is Awesome. I would recommend this to anyone. I especially enjoyed the sounds of nature and no honking horns. Thank you for letting us stay.
