The area around your stay is pure Pennsylvania countryside—quiet, peaceful, and surrounded by nature. Stalker Hill Road is a scenic, winding stretch with rolling hills, open fields, and dense woodlands that change beautifully with the seasons. You’ll likely spot deer, wild turkeys, and maybe even a black bear if you're lucky. The neighborhood is made up of friendly locals, mostly long-time residents who appreciate the slower pace of life. It’s a safe, rural setting where the biggest sounds you’ll hear at night are crickets and the occasional owl. Just down the road, you’ll find Stalker Hill Farm, a charming spot with fresh produce in season, and the nearby Stillwater Dam offers a great place for fishing or a peaceful walk by the water. If you’re looking for a true escape from city life, this is the perfect place to unplug and soak up the fresh air.
Getting around here is pretty straightforward, but you'll definitely want a car. This is classic rural Pennsylvania—no buses, no Ubers on demand, just open roads and peaceful drives. Parking is never an issue, whether at the cabin or anywhere in town. If you’re heading into Thompson or nearby towns like Susquehanna or Honesdale, everything is spread out, so plan for a drive. The roads are well-maintained, but if you're visiting in winter, be prepared for some snow-covered backroads. Biking is an option for short trips, but most people stick to their cars. If you're up for a scenic drive, Route 171 will take you through rolling hills and into town, where you’ll find small diners, markets, and the essentials.
⭐ “Lisa went above and beyond to make sure we had an amazing getaway into the countryside of Pennsylvania...we loved our visit and plan on staying again very soon.”
😎 What’s Thompson all about?
Thompson, PA, is one of those hidden gems that feels like a true escape from the hustle and bustle. It’s a tiny, quiet town surrounded by rolling hills, lush forests, and some of the best stargazing you’ll find in the region. If you love the outdoors, you’re in for a treat—there are scenic hiking trails, peaceful lakes for fishing and kayaking, and in the winter, you’re just a short drive from Elk Mountain for skiing. The town itself has that classic small-town charm, where locals are friendly, and life moves at a slower, more peaceful pace. It’s the perfect spot to unwind, explore nature, and enjoy the simple pleasures of rural Pennsylvania.
