1. Penang Hill

2. KOMTAR

Officially known as Kompleks Tun Abdul Razak, the dodecagonal skyscraper KOMTAR is the island’s tallest building. Named after the country’s second prime minister, when the tower was completed in 1986, it was the tallest building anywhere in Southeast Asia. One of Penang’s first major retail and leisure destinations, today it’s a popular shopping spot.

3. Penang City Hall

Known to locals as Dewan Bandaraya, Georgetown’s City Hall dates back to the early 20th century. Built in 1903 and officially inaugurated in 1906, for over a century, it’s been at the heart of city life, as the home of council offices and departments. It was also among the earliest buildings on the island to be fitted with electric lighting, installed by German firm Huttenbach Brothers.

4. Pinang Peranakan Mansion

Greeting you proudly as you walk along Church Street in Georgetown, the Pinang Perankan Mansion is a remarkable feature of the landscape with its beautiful green walls and wooden doors inlaid with gold. As a replica of a 19th century home that would once have been occupied by an affluent family, this is a bold piece of work.

5. Kek Lok Si Temple

Known among devotees as the Temple of the Supreme Bliss, Kek Lok Si is Penang’s largest and most important Buddhist temple. Just three kilometres away from Penang Hill, it is partly carved into the Air Itam hilltops and is a significant site for Buddhists from all over the region.
