Here's a worthwhile short hike for those looking for one in Tasmania. As water pools, and then evaporates, sea salt causes the rock to flake in the middle leaving the joints raised. Nearby is a section where the complete opposite occurs. There, the joints are eroded leaving the middle section raised looking like loaves of bread. #TakeaHike #reflections

Many of us visit Port Arthur because of the history of the area. What surprised us though was how beautiful the grounds were. We wish we could have spent longer so we could have photographed the scenery as well as learned about the past. #localgems

Just 45 minutes from Hobart, Dunalley is a small town by the sea with a canal and swing bridge separating it from the Tasman Peninsula. Affected but also in a way spared from annihilation which could have befallen them in the disastrous fires that roared through the area in January 2013, Bangor Wine & Oyster Shed sits above the town, overlooking Bangor Vineyard, Blackman Bay, Marion Bay and Norfolk Bay where some of Australia's best oysters are grown. Now it is a stop on the way to or from Port Arthur or a retreat after work on Friday nights when it is open in summer until 9.00pm. The Waterfall Bay Hike in Tasmania is by far one of my favorite hikes. 75% of the time your are on the edge of the cliff looking out at the water below.

We loved seeing the Remarkable Cave on the way back from Port Arthur. The water was pretty choppy. Everytime it hit a rock, or a cliff, there would be a huge splash. People are able to go down steps to see the water rush in at the Cave itself. Apparently, the water pressure can get so strong that it caused the roof to collapse. Technically, it is no longer a cave. It´s a tunnel. #localgems
