2. Limoges Cathedral

Limoges Cathedral, standing proud upon its hill on the banks of the Vienne River, was a labor lasting 600 years for city residents. Construction began in 1273 and ended in the late 19th century, when the nave was finally connected to the church’s bell tower on foundations first created in Roman times. Despite its extended construction history, the church stands as a beautiful example of Gothic architecture, one of few south of the Loire. 3. Church of St-Michel-des-Lions
