A summer sunset taking in the vast skies and impeccable colours of the outback

Broken Hill is just a country town a long, long way from anywhere (about 500km to Adelaide) today. But the town grew rich on mines - and has some impressive buildings on the main drag Argent Street (really)

This is Trades Hall on Blende Street - yes this is pretty much where unionism started in NSW. When I worked there in the mid 1980's married women couldn't be union members and were therefore very limited in the jobs they could do.
Sturt Desert Peas. Native and Endemic to the Australia's desert.
I spent my 10 days searching for these and on the very last day before travelling back to Sydney (13 hour drive), I found them growing in the gravel footpath of a small laneway (after taking a wrong turn). Just 3 small patches.

These were my Nanna's favourite flowers. Born in Broken Hill in 1912 and moved to Parramatta when she was just
5 years old, she loved these flowers and memories. It was nice to finally see her favourite flower. (No cutting as its not permitted but I have this special photographic memory which I hold dear).
