The property is very convenient to the shops and restaurants near the canals in Leiden. Our room was on the first floor, easily accessed with an electronic key. Some street noise was bothersome in the evening. The staff was pleasant but there is no 24 hour reception, so you may have to call if no one is available. Our room was lovely and historic with a very modern bathroom. Overall a good choice for Leiden.

We found our room to be clean and the amenities generally good. The location of the hotel is fantastic. However, we had a couple of concerns, mainly to do with the security of the building. In order to get into and out of the building you have to either tap your key fob (to get in) or push a button (to get out), and this opens the automatic front door. The problem is that the door then remains open for about 30 seconds - and it's not possible to push it shut - so if the guests aren't being vigilant and standing/waiting by the door for 30 seconds to make sure no-one is trying to enter, then there's a big security concern. While we were there we saw a man trying to enter the building after we exited (he tried to squeeze past the door which was still open after we left.) When we brought this concern to the staff, they told us that every guest is told on checking in that they need to wait for the door to close, but we weren't told about this when we checked in. I wouldn't have felt safe staying in the hotel on my own for this reason. Another problem in the room is that there's a small step into the bathroom and both the step and the bathroom floor are very dark wood, so we both kept stubbing our toes on the step. We ended up having to place a sheet of white paper over the step so that we wouldn't keep tripping on it. The smell of the soaps in the bathroom was nasty, so we ended up buying our own bars of soap.

We stayed in the presidential suite for almost a week prior to Xmas. The room was absolutely wonderful and huge and the bed was very comfortable. We even had an xmas tree in our room! The rest of the facilities were good as well. The location is perfect and you can basically walk anywhere in Leiden from here. In a couple of minutes you're in downtown. Surroundings are still peaceful. The only thing that was not as advertised is that for our entire stay we had a baby in the room above us. Given that it is an old wood frame building, there is some noise. The website of the hotel says adults only, but this clearly wasnt the case. Outreach to the hotel went unanswered..

Excellent hotel

Everything about this hotel is exceptional. The room is very large and has a sofa also in it; the mattress is fantastic, the location is in the middle of the center of Leiden and the breakfast was very nice. I would definitely come back to this hotel on my next trip.

Great central location within walking distance of all main attractions. Really helpful and friendly staff. Pillows were a little hard and too big for us but that's more our personal preference,. The rooms are beautifully decorated and clean, would definitely recommend.

Have been here a few times and will keep coming back. It is so easy and the rooms are fab. You are 4/5 minutes form the centre of the city and all its wonderful shops, bars and restaurants.
