Perfectly "boutique."
Elegant room, with lots of light.
Steep winding stairs a touch of history.
Fabulous boutique hotel in an excellent location near several good restaurants and Pieterskerk. Excellent breakfasts are offered in the hotel restaurant. Hotel room had everything one needs- small fridge with wine and water, nespresso coffee machine, excellent shower and comfortable bed. Easily walkable from Leiden Central.
Loved our room and the great location. The stairs to the higher floors were challenging, small and steep, but the handrails made it workable. Pleasant staff, though there is no one on site 24 hours.
Like the best combination of a high end Air B'n B but within a quaint hotel - we were in 'number 10' which had only three rooms. Lovely and quiet. Owner really helpful and friendly. Located centrally so we didn't need to take cabs or buses anywhere. Thoroughly recommended.
Great location and nice room up a very narrow staircase. Bed was comfortable and we slept well. Some noise from sorority house nearby on Friday night but not enough to complain about.
A beautiful of Dutch house, getting to our room with our suitcases was a bit of a challenge but we managed one step at a time. We were in room 7 which was beautiful. The owner is a great chef, making us very creative and delicious breakfasts with a speed that surprised us. He was very helpful in getting us tickets to Soldaat van Oranje and to the shuttle that brought us there. The hotel is located in the center of the city, close to many great restaurants and places of interest. Out of now my favorite place in Leiden
Lovely old building, but stairs to 1st and 2nd floors are very steep and narrow, so less suitable for large suitcases. No check in required, area is the oldest and most picturesque part of Leiden with nice bars and restaurants. Hotel itself is in a quiet street. We did not use breakfast.
Fantastic location. One of best locations in Leiden. Street has wonderful cafes. Close to the Hortus botanica garden (must see)
Nice garden view room in terms of size, bed and shower. Although winter no garden, but back of B&B is quiet. Housekeeping very good
We travel often for to NL for work, family and friends. Picked the “Boutique Hotel” for great location and had great time as always in Leiden. This is a B&B (not full service in case you need). However, please know no Reception area. There is a breakfast room, but not available except for breakfast. Our 80 year old Dutch galfriend cycled over to meet us. We hadn't returned from walk and she was told "no reception" and couldn't come inside and just wait in breakfast room. I am a physician. I needed to see a GP and was told by owner he didn’t know and couldn't help. Unbelievable! So I called ER at university and got good advice. Also, 1st morning my husband asked if could reserve a cab for last day (always use NL trains but just needed to go for return trip to station wirh bags) and owner was abrupt and not helpful - guess he was occupied - last morning he asked if we needed cab but believe this was due to another guest complaining about hospitality. We had already arranged one.
Again, loved location (were there for 9 days) and love Leiden. We will not stay at ExLibris on future trips.
The hotel is a perfect little gem for those looking for an authentic Leiden experience. The owner is wonderful, and take great care of the property. Rooms are spacious, with antique and modern charm combined. We normally stay at 5-star hotels with lots of amenities and services - this is not that! More of a 5-star B&B, which was perfect for what we wanted in Leiden. Be warned that the upper floor rooms require climbing very steep and narrow stairs, which would not be good for people with any physical issues.
It was a very easy stay - there was a no-contact check-in. No problems at all. The room was comfortable and cozy and very well located. Nice restaurants right across the street. Very close to central station. There was a minor problem with the bedding, but the hotel discounted my stay in compensation and it was very fair. The value was good and I would return there again.

Liked: Cleanliness, amenities
The room itself was clean and well appointed once the two sets of steep spiral stairs had been negotiated. We gained the very distinct impression the hotel was run solely from a business view point. The proprietor gave no indication of wishing to engage with guests. Breakfast exactly the same each day to such an extent that having chosen coffee and earl grey tea to drink on the first morning, that was what was automatically supplied on the following two mornings without inquiry. In short the choice at breakfast was take it or leave it.
2 anciennes maison transformées en Hôtel boutique.
Chambre spacieuse, mini suite .
Ontbijt was oké.
