Casa Carmelita, also known as Casa Encantada #7, has plenty of charm, romance and magnetism that is tucked away in a serene setting. Casa Encantada, a classic adobe compound is situated on what was original Pueblo land. This early 1900’s family compound has been transformed into a charming, intimate collection of eleven individually owned casitas. Located one block off Kit Carson, it is an easy walk to the Plaza, 0.7 miles for shopping, galleries, restaurants, music and museums, and just moments to the El Monte Sagrado Resort and Spa.

Casa Carmelita is a classic adobe casita that opens into a beautifully landscaped, grassy shared common area with beautiful trees and a unique Totem Pole. This one bedroom gem sleeps 2 adults comfortably with a King bed (memory foam) and a Queen, Sleeper Sofa with no bars, no springs, no compromise. Guest will enjoy the large Kiva fireplace with beautiful gas logs for warm cozy nights. French doors open to the spacious private patio showcasing a bistro set with a wood-burning chiminea for a "quite" happy hour, then top the evening off with a relaxing soak in the hot tub. Additional amenities include, fully equipped kitchen, washer and dryer, microwave, dishwasher, portable air conditioner, air purifier, Roku/Smart TV with wireless Sony headphones, blu ray DVD, portable Bluetooth jam-box for music in the patio, fiber optic high speed internet, gas grill.

Dave visited Taos for the first time in 1971 on an art scholarship through his University. We hope you will enjoy his paintings that hang in the casita, some are available for purchase. Carmelita, a Registered Nurse enjoys the culinary experience of New Mexico and the Southwest.

Relaxing getaway

Location is perfect. Quiet street an can walk to everything downtown. Clean and well equipped. Great private courtyard with lots of shade. Have stayed here before. Will return!!

Our family of four with two small children had a lovely time! This rental had everything we needed and was nicely decorated. We were very close to the square and in nice weather it would be a nice walk. I do think this would be a great romantic getaway. We would stay again.

Wonderful casita in a quiet neighborhood!

Really enjoyed our stay. Equipped with everything you need. The neighborhood was great. Sitting in the courtyard for morning coffee while the wife enjoyed the hot tub was just what we needed. Highly recommend. Thanks for a wonderful time!

Taos stay

Cute place! Easy walk to town, and only a 5 min walk to catch the free bus up to ski slopes! No need to drive. I would stay there again. Nice little court yard with a private hot tub to relax in after a day of skiing. Also a nice shared outside area where I could throw a ball for our labs. Highly recommend.

Wonderful gem in Taos

Our stay in Casita Carmelita was wonderful. Such a lovely little place. So private, comfortable, close to downtown. The hot tub on the patio was perfect while watching the hummingbirds and beautiful skies. The casita had everything we needed. Loved the adobe and the sky lights although I wouldn’t suggest sleeping more than 2, one skylight is right above the pullout couch. Perfect for a couple tho! We will return for sure!

Very relaxing

This place was so well equipped. I loved that I didn’t have to buy spices and everything to cook. The only thing I wasn’t crazy about was that there is literally nowhere to take your dogs off leash in Taos. The only “dog park” is an enclosed cement tennis court. This is definitely no reflection of the property itself but I think Taos needs to build some sort of dog park. Thank you for a very relaxing time.

Sometimes lodging enhances one's journey; many times it is perfunctory and simply functional. Casita # 7 is in the former category. Compliments to our hosts for a great and professional approach to the home rental industry. The only surprise was a most pleasant one. And an applause is extended to our host for being very communicative and responsive as well....the total rental "package" in this case is outstanding and achieves the highest levels of rental experiences which most of us aspire to. Small Cozy Home close to town but.....

The casita is fully stocked and the hot tub, KIVA were awesome to enjoy. The pillows to sleep on need to be replaced, they are so limp. Maybe all the feathers are gone? The grill didn't work, but we worked around it and used the oven. The location was great for driving to Angel Fire and Carson National Forest. I would not consider this home within walking distance to town with children and dogs, maybe if it was just my husband and I. The 25 mile per hour road to get to town was full of folks going well over 45 MPH and the dog park, Kit Carson Park, is not exactly walking distance as well. I should have checked to see if the dog park was off leash prior to visiting, it is NOT. My dogs were not able to play freely, however once we were in the Carson National Forest, they did and we had a wonderful time in the snow. Overall, this casita is a great stay for 2 and one super small dog.

Excellent and Well-appointed

This was probably one of the nicest places we’ve stayed that welcomes dogs. It was spotless, well-stocked, well-appointed, quiet and convenient. The courtyard was perfect and so was the hot tub. This little place checks all the boxes! We will definitely stay here again and highly recommend it.

Wonderful casita in Taos

Lovely little casita walking distance to the historic district of Taos while still being tucked enough away. Such a cute home and the outdoor area was still so widely used even in winter. We'd gladly return! The art on the walls was all done by the casita owner as well which felt really homey.

It’s time to land of enchantment

Casa Carmelita was a great place to stay! We really enjoyed the patio and the hot tub! There is a comfortable bed, well stocked kitchen, and the washer and dryer was a bonus! it is close to the plaza and restaurants and stores in town.

Fond of property

We’ve stayed here multiple times. We enjoy this property and Carmelita is beyond helpful. I am usually thorough when departing, but this time I left our travel folder. Carmelita went beyond what is expected and will be sending the folder back to us. The property is quiet and relaxing. I’m sure we’ll be back—assuming it’s available when we return. Carmelita is kind and easy to deal with. We follow the outlined rules and leave the property with the respect and with care it deserves.

Great stay

It is small but very efficient use of space. The house had everything we needed; A/C in living room and cool air in bedroom, hot tub, chiminea, laundry detergent, plenty of dishes (although we didn’t cook), there was even coffee for the Kureig. About 2/3 mile from plaza, so we walked everywhere. Would definitely stay here again!

Absolutely the best!

First of all, the communications were excellent and always asap in speed, both with Carmelita and the caretaker (as we called and wanted to check in an hour earlier). And, everything was ready and perfect! The best stocked kitchen with great cookware, utensils, china, on and on. And, the decor was lovely. After being on the road almost a month, the washer and dryer really came in handy. The property was so lovely. Really enjoyed both mornings and evenings out on the relaxing private patio. We wanted to take advantage of the hot tub but never could fit it into our Taos schedule! I cannot say enough about this VRBO spot. We will definitely be returning. Thank you so much for having us!

Quiet, peaceful, and very nice

Casita Carmileta is a wonderful excape to Taos and the outstanding cultural heritage unique to New Mexico. The Casita is furnished with the guests needs, comfort and privacy in mind. It was everything we expected and more.
