Highlights: Stargazing under the clear night sky was unforgettable. The guided nature walks gave us a deeper appreciation of the local wildlife and history. Dining options were varied and delicious, fresh with a nice balance of local flavors. Travel notes: Kagga Kamma is located about three hours’ drive from Cape Town, so plan ahead for the journey. The nearest town is roughly an hour and a half away, making the reserve very secluded. This adds to the tranquility, but it’s worth preparing for the remoteness."

"Amazing location if you wish to disconnect from the city life. You’ll have to drive about 12km on a gravel road after you go through the main gate (this is where google map stops). I recommend a car with good ground clearance (Toyota cross worked great for me). The night sky is very clear if you’re a stargazer and the SALT Telescope is about 45 mins drive. The food is great and the cottages are clean and tidy. They also have safari trips since this is a private game reserve. It gets pretty chilly at night and the only way to heat the cottage is with the fireplace, which you’ll need to know how to use it. "
