When we arrived, after we had paid in full with Expedia, we were told we had to pay a hotel fee of $8 plus tax to get our keys to the room, because Expedia did not charge us for the hotel fee. This was not written anywhere or posted anywhere that we could find, so we called Expedia who said we were only supposed to have the $100 hold for incedentals, which we never use. They called the front desk and then advised us to get a receipt showing the charge. We asked for a receipt which they could not give it to us until the morning, according to the front desk. They also said “Expedia knows we charge the fee”. Apparently, they did this to every customer who booked with a third party. In the morning, they told us we would have to get the receipt from Expedia. When no wouldn’t be take for an answer, we were given a receipt with $4 of the money refunded. It blows my mind that they can just charge more money, just because with no explanation after you are already locked in. This seems like a shady scam. If it’s not, this should be placed on a website as an expectation when you are booking through a third party.
