About this property
Wakulla River Retreat - a nature lover’s paradise
Relax, Unwind, Reconnect in this sunny cottage. Tucked back on 2 acres, we call this private and spacious home our “Treehouse “ with private decks and porches nestled in the tree canopies. It’s the perfect vacation home
This cheery, newly renovated, well-appointed 1.5-story sunlit cottage offers 2 bedrooms and 1.5 baths. Tucked back on a private wooded lot in a neighborhood that runs along the banks of the beautiful Spring-fed Wakulla River. Conveniently close to parks, the wildlife refuge, the beach and Tallahassee, there is so much to see and do within 15-30 minutes; but once you arrive, you may not want to leave this charming cottage!
Enjoy morning coffee on one of the many decks and dine outdoors or enjoy family time on the porch high up in the trees. This immaculate home is just a short 4 minute walk to the river where two kayaks await you for a morning paddle where you will see turtles, the occasional manatee, egrets and herons.
Our home is perfectly located for quick access to state parks, rivers, beaches, and Tallahassee. This spacious, private cottage offers the perfect space for a getaway to explore the rich, natural resources of this unique area of North Florida panhandle.

First time staying in the Crawfordville area. Came to see and visit the Wakulla Springs lodge and park. The house was absolutely perfect. Comfortable and cozy, this property is tucked back in the woods with a short walk to the small community dock. If you are looking for a quiet retreat this is the place for you. Would definitely stay here again!
My husband and I stayed at this property while visiting friends and family in Tallahassee. We loved being so close to the river and having access to a canoe. The property is very quiet and in a lovely quiet neighborhood. We had everything we needed during our stay. The home is updated and beautiful.
Very clean, comfortable, well appointed and fun things to do nearby. The host has thought of everything to make your stay enjoyable. There was even a new toothbrush available for my son. Convenient to Tallahassee and all it has to offer. Wakulla Springs State park is a must see. A jump off the platform is refreshing. If our travels take us to this area we won’t hesitate to book again.
Second time staying here and I'll book here from now on. Perfect in all ways but for it is 35 minutes from FSU which is both a good thing and a bad thing.
Clean, in a tranquil area, right next to the river, nicely decorated, and the owner has thought of everything. It was my son's graduation, and she left goodies and a balloon and graduation cup. Super thoughtful!
We came to St Marks for a Mother/Daughter getaway!! It was just perfect!!! This home had everything you could need and more!! The personal touches were amazing!! Fresh baked goodies for breakfast!!! Such a wonderful touch!! The cleanliness of this home was excellent!!!
We explored the beautiful area and looked forward to coming back to our beautiful, private home. Thank you for sharing this amazing getaway!!!!!
Just book it! It's a great house that felt secluded. It is surrounded by woods with no views of any neighbors. There are multiple porches to enjoy nature and relax. The river is a short walk to a community park with a dock. The river was absolutely beautiful. There are benches so we walked down to the dock every night to enjoy the views. We also really enjoyed being able to take out the kayaks and explore. Wakulla Springs is a 10 minute drive away and a great place to spend the day. The host, Sarah, was incredibly helpful and went above and beyond. We had the best time!
If you’re visiting Crawfordville, I cannot recommend this home enough. Sarah was an incredible host - communicative, helpful, and extremely dedicated to addressing any minor issue we had.
The house is beautiful, private, and tucked away down a long driveway. A short walk away is a public dock with kayaks - we took these out several times. The Wakulla river is very peaceful and full of amazing wildlife. We saw all sorts of birds, some small alligators, and were even joined down the river for a bit by a friendly manatee - just be sure to keep a respectful distance, it’s illegal and unethical to bug them.
There’s all sorts of amazing things to see in the area, from Wakulla Springs to St Mark’s wildlife refuge. Both are very much worth your time.
We plan to return to the area as soon as we can, and I can’t imagine us booking any other place to stay.
Thanks again, Sarah!
We had a great stay. The house was very well stocked. The neighborhood has river access with a boat ramp just down the road that we used for paddling. The owners and the locals were both very helpful and we really enjoyed our visit.
This place is a bit off the beaten path. However, this is a fabulous home. We enjoyed the wildlife and peace and quiet. The owners are local and were helpful in finding things to do and places to see. We felt at home here. This "the" place to stay.
The Treehouse is nicely appointed and meets all your needs. Exceptional kitchen for those who like to eat in..comfortable furniture..extra touches! The stars on a clear night are amazing! Great quiet getaway - Come see!
We thoroughly enjoyed our four night stay at the Wakulla River Retreat! The house was extremely clean and everything was in good working order. The furniture and beds were very comfortable and all linens were immaculate. The property is very private and the neighborhood is quiet and safe. The listing and photos are accurate and provide a true sense of the home.Sarah was very responsive to questions and is an excellent hostess even providing baked treats for our stay. We would definitely stay here again if we are in the area.
This house was delightful. Crisp, clean and friendly. The beds were super comfortable...the outside decks allowed you to watch the local wildlife and hear all of the sounds of the woods and river "creatures". Our host was so very accommodating, helpful and always pleasant. If I am ever staying in the area again, I will try availability for this house.
Beautifully maintained property. There was a lovely welcome basket waiting when we arrived. The Hostess(Sarah) was so thoughtful and made sure we had all we needed. Also she checked on us during a storm to make sure we were all okay. Our stay was definitely 5 stars and more!!!
If you’re an outdoor enthusiast this property will not disappoint you. It is minutes away from hiking, biking, and kayaking opportunities. If you’re a nature lover and want peace and quiet you don’t have to leave the property. The host goes above and beyond to make your stay memorable. The house was very clean simply beautiful.
In 20 years of VRBO stays, this house is the most perfect ever. The location was quiet and secluded, the house was spotlessly clean, the beds and furniture were comfortable. With Sarah's attention to detail and warm welcome we felt at home. Nearby Wakulla Springs was one of the most beautiful places we have ever seen. Unspoiled Gulf front and state and national parks provided many opportunities to explore. Don't miss a visit to the "lodge."
This property is very comfortable with all anyone could want to relax and prepare meals. The bedrooms allow you to view the woods and wildlife, plus allow fresh air and birdsong to enter through the patio doors. The screened patios were my favorite hangout. The best part was the short drive to St. Marks NWR where I spent every day birding and viewing other wildlife. Most birders known that St Marks NWR is a hotspot for winter migratory birds. The house and the birding exceeded all my expectations! Thank you to my awesome hosts who made my stay more than exceptional.
Loved staying at this secluded place in the woods in a spectacular natural beauty area. The host was very attentive to detail, and the place had everything we could want. We’ll want to be coming back for a future Florida vacation.
