Loved the look and feel of the hotel. Loved the classic theme with wooden post beds and spiral stair cases. Perfect downtown location. It needs many repairs but is now undergoing renovations. Can't wait for the re-opening as we will stay again.
Amaziing location and unique property with great ambience. Electrical outlets could be updated for a little more convenience in this era of laptops and cellphones. Soundproofing isn't the best. I could hear showers in other rooms.
This is my second stay at the Governor's Inn. The place is always clean, the staff always friendly and conversational, and the hotel is close to two great places to eat. I love the antique look and feel. The rooms themselves are spacious and very clean. If you can't get a good night's sleep here then it is definitely not due to the hotel and the beds. So sorry to see it close for a year but I expect even greater things when it reopens.

Could have been better.
The front desk person was not very welcoming. He probably said no more the 10 words to us. The first room we were given had an unmade bed. The second room had a broken bathroom sink. The WiFi was worthless. The room was big. It was comfortable. And the hotel is conveniently located.

Some of the rooms don’t have windows at all. Asked to change rooms and moved to a room with a small window which overlooked a block wall about 1m away. Toilet was dirty also. Bathroom dated. Parking lacking.
Hotel was very clean and staff tried to be helpful. Only problem with the hotel is that there is nothing in walking distance to obtain convenience items. This is a problem because there was very limited parking so you did not want to leave in your car and lose your space. No valet services for car or nearby parking except out on some side street if even available. Since there are no convenience food or drink items at all in the area, the hotel should have a fully stocked grocery area and basic toiletries for purchase like other hotels in this situation. All the had was a very small box of snacks of limited choice and quality. The hotel itself though was quite nice.
We were incredibly disappointed as we were going to my nieces graduation. There is no elevator and I had my 80-year-old mother and we needed to walk up three flights of steps. There was no one there to help with the luggage and there was literally no assistance with parking the car. Still not sure why the bar in the hotel was closed but they told me the bars across the street were open. All in all a very disappointing stay
Worse stay ever! I would never stay there again! I was given a dirty room. The furniture was old and rundown. The bed was uncomfortable.

Acceptable!
The reviews before me were right.
It is clean, quaint, very well situated next to the Capitol.
It is dated but acceptable, this is NOT a 5* or $8 even but a solid 3 and worth the stay!

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Do not stay here.
Hotel is in poor condition. I would not recommend nor stay here ever again. Everything from floor to ceiling is old and deteriorated.
Beautiful property! We loved the layout and rooms. The continental breakfast was great and loved that coffee and tea were available in the lobby at all times. The parking situation was the only downside. Having to park in the parking garage a bit of a ways away was tricky, especially in rainy weather. Other than that, we had a wonderful experience!
Nice place, nice value. They need to check their toilets. Slow flushing and running in two different rooms (moved because of air conditioning not working properly in one). Other than that A-OK
It was a pleasant stay. Everyone was very nice. The hotel is rather old, but I believe that is part of the experience of staying at a historical property.
the pros; interesting vibe , historic hotel, comfortable beds, hot showers, great access to the capitol building
the cons; room had a window which looked onto the corridor , and blinds didnt keep the light out , breakfast was lukewarm coffee and some packaged muffins , late checkout was promised but didnt happen
