Conveniently found near station but..
Built in 1964, it isn’t the newest building in town and has no classic or retro feel to it. It’s clean and rather roomy so if I’m to stay it’ll be for business (not vacation)

Close walk to subway stations and restaurants
Stayed 5 days/4 nights in this hotel. Checked in around midnight and checked out in the morning. Smooth process and friendly staff. Only one small elevator in this hotel. Room has no window. Not the newest hotel but overall in clean acceptable condition. For this price it is acceptable. Shampoo/conditioner/soap is a bit low on supply. Need to request for more. Close to multiple subway stations and a lot of restaurants nearby. Many 7-11 convenience store nearby. Will recommend to others. About 15 mins walk to Taipei Main Station.

highly recommended for budget travelers
The place is very strategic, near a lot of convenience shop, massage and especially food shops/restaurants. The hotel is a walk away (2 blocks) from the nearest MRT station. The hotel is clean and is good especially for those who are looking to comfortable rest after a full day of walking and doing touristy activities.

Not so expensive. Good location, but it takes around 8 minutes to the nearest MRT station by foot. The reception staff is very kind, helpful and can speak Japanese quite well. Many Japanese guests in this hotel.

Hotel needs a major clean up and makeover.
The use of keys to access the rooms is rather outdated. Same goes to the furniture and decor in room. Horrible air quality in Room 610. Nights in that room meant endless sneezing and nose blowing and these symptoms only subsided when I left my room the following mornings. My room was enveloped suddenly with smoky smell on Christmas midnight. My belongings smelt of smoke for the rest of my trip in Taiwan. The ventilator in the bathroom was redundant. The mirror remained fogged up unless it was wiped. There was a night I had to hand wash a piece of stained clothing and it was still damp when I returned to my room the following night. The only positive points were the availability of a bathtub to soak the soreness away from intense sightseeing and the good memory of a lady staff (I didn't ask her name) who could give me the correct room key without myself mentioning my room number.

Just okay.
It was okay or a little less than okay. The staff when checking in was not particularly friendly, but at least they knew what they were doing and could get the room for us in a short amount of time -- unlike some places I've stayed. The room was drab and needed to be upgraded. Since we couldn't get another hotel on that date during New Year at the price, it worked out for one night. We stayed in another hotel two other nights and would happily have stayed there longer.

Good basic hotel with all you need
Overall, this hotel was absolutely fine but they're behind with modernization. Had a great time with no problems whatsoever. Bed is fine, room size adequate, and two free bottles of drinking water everyday. My reference point is having stayed in plenty of similarly classed hotels in china & HK. I would recommend it to a traveler like myself, who is not obsessed with decorations/luxury, but rather see it as a clean simple place to sleep at night. Area - 10min walk to Taipei Main or ZhongShan subway station. Plenty of restaurants in nearby alleyways. Here's the strange part- district is popular with Japanese visitors due to abundance of hostess bars. These bars house sexy girls who are paid to flirt and drink with customers who pay inflated drink prices. The many bars are in nearby alleyways and are nicely decorated with closed doors and unassuming signs. If you were not familiar with the culture, you wouldn't guess what they were. They do not cause any disturbances. The Bathroom was outdated for asian hotels. Still had the tub/shower combo with shower curtain. Toilet was old and plugged easily. The hotel also strangely recommends to "not throw tissue into the toilet" (I actually assume they meant toilet paper tissue... ) Door lock - first time I've encountered the traditional lock and key door. Most hotels at this budget level have electronic locks with keycards. Steel door and with a safe built-in the room, so I wasn't concerned about security..

Pros: Hotel staffs are really friendly. They even can speak some Vietnamese, which is my native language. The room is good enough with almost important facilities such as TV, network (wire and wireless), secure box, etc. Cons: There is no fridge in my room. My room was always left unlocked after room service (!).

The hotel is clearly ouddated and although that shows in the price being relatively cheap vs other hotels in the area, I felt it was overpriced. The wifi was good and so was the hairdryer. The location was good, being not too far from the train station.

Nice location, decent condition, reasonable price
- Hotel was about 10 minutes walk to the closest MRT, but the Zhongshan station is quite central, hence convenient for exploring the rest of Taipei - Massage parlours, bars, eateries and street stalls nearby, though some research is necessary to differentiate the clean massage parlours and bars from the ones that provide "full service". - Room was clean, bed was new but the condition of the room was a little old, especially the bathroom ceiling and the wallpaper. - Staff was friendly and the cleaner who handled my floor was extremely polite. - Plenty of banks nearby, which are the main means of currency exchange.

Good stay for a good price
Staff is super helpful and friendly. While the hotel is a little bit of a walk from the nearest MRT , it's perfectly walkable. Most taxi drivers in the city know the hotel (just make sure you have the Chinese name written as taxis don't know the English name). The room was clean and the bed was big. It was one of the best hotels I've stayed in in Taipei. I'd definitely book here again.

Suitable
It was in a great location. It was near the places we wanted to go to and pretty close to MRT lines, including Taipei Main Station. FamilyMart and OK Mart were also across the street so everything needed was in reach. The room was nothing special but serviceable. We just needed a place to shower, sleep and keep our stuff safe while we explored Taipei. My parents' safe wouldn't work but other than that, it was clean and looked safe. I'd recommend it and/or stay here again.

Hotel condition is excellent for the price offered by expedia. Service is good too. Location is not bad though you have to walk about 15 minutes to one of the 2 MRT stations. There are 24 hours convenience stores, 24 hours McD and MOS Burger stores and Taiwanese food outlets nearby.

Good value for Money
Consider how much I paid for the room, I would say it's a good deal. The hotel is located in between two MRT stations, takes about 10 mins walk to each, which is very convenient. The hotel looks rough from the picture but it's actually quite ok in reality. The room is clean and tidy.

I was looking for a place near Taipei main station and shopping/attractions. This hotel was about a 3 minute drive from Taipei main station and a 10 minute walk from the nearest subway station (Shandao station). There's plenty of shopping (Zhongshan station) and the hotel itself is clean, the staff is very helpful, and the room was very comfortable and quiet. I will definitely stay again!

Value for money and 8 min walk to nearest MRT
Located in the Japanese night spot area (streets are lined with KTV lounges and massage parlours which come alive at night), this hotel has been around since 1964. Given that it's so old, I would think the hotel is quite well maintained for its age. If you don't mind a 8 min walk to MRT, it is quite worthwhile to stay here as the service is good and attentive since most of their customers are Japanese.

Very nice place to stay
I stayed at this hotel for a bit over a week and I definitely had a nice time overall. The reception staff is friendly, responsive and their level of English makes it easy to interact with. The room was spacious and very comfortable and well taken care of daily. The cleaning staff could not really speak English, but that does not matter that much anyway. While it is not that close to a MRT (mass transit) station, it is but a 10-15 minutes walk to Zhongshan station, in a busy shopping district. So that's fair enough for me. I had a room at the end of the hotel, just next to another shop and you could hear distinctly some kind of pump/pressure noise repeatedly during the day, but nothing preventing a siesta if inclined to do so. I'd say it's a good value.

great staff! great location!
The building and rooms show its age but cleanliness was not jeopardized. It may not be spotless but comfortable enough. Basic amenities in the room are available like TV, hairdryer, AC, toiletries and other hotel compendiums. There is no breakfast cafe and no room service. Nevertheless, decent bakeries and many convenience stores like 7-11 and Family Mart are just walking distance. Not to forget the Mc Donald's which is 5 min walk away and Starbucks at 8mins by foot. Local noodle shops open a bit late for someone who wakes up at 7am like me. I think the shops open at 10:30am. At mid-day, the area gets alive with the lined up noodle and dimsum shops. Push cart goodies are also around. Several Seafood Restos and Japanese Restos are within the vicinity. Ximendeng is just 10mins by car, the nearest bus station is just 5mins by foot and the ZhongShang train station is just 15min walk (which is not too long as you can window shop as you walk) The staff upgrades my rating for this hotel. They are very friendly. Even friendlier than Thai hospitality (as I describe it). They may not speak English well but the effort counts as much. I would like them to upgrade the rooms and modernize it a bit and a buffet breakfast will be great. Price and value though is amazing!

It is not near the MRT stations as stated in other reviews. The hotel is located between 2 stations which are about 15-20 mins away. Nice clean big bathroom and nice bedsheets, blankets. The other annoying thing is that the reception will call you every single time to check if you need your room made up/cleaned if you don't leave the hotel by a certain time in the afternoon.

Modest hotel
This was my 2nd stay in the hotel. The hotel is a quite modest but good for budget. The location is quite close to 2 MRT stations, but if you're not up to the walk, just raise your hand and take taxi to sandao temple station, it costs 70 NTD. Small 24h shops very close to the hotel. The internet internet is free but might not work well during night (had problems around 1-2am), but from my room there was also TPE Free available. For this network you need to register free account from authorized booth, tho.

This hotel is pretty decent and good value for money. It has all the basic facilities and I liked the fact that it has in-room wifi.
