V satisfactory accommodation and excellent locatio
Spacious comfortable room, good to be able to control the temperature etc. great location esp when travelling by train. Good cafes etc nearby.

Great Hotel.
Excellent position with Wynyard rail station across the road. Check-in staff very friendly and efficient. Upgraded our room with a view. Good service at the bar. Buffet breakfast was also excellent. All the usual amenities in the room. There was nothing to fault. Cloaked out baggage, and Concierge assisted with the bags to a waiting taxi outside. Just a great place to stay. Will definitely stay here again.

Close to Harbour
Hotel is close to the harbour within walking distance. Buses taxi and train at door step .Night club in hotel,breakfast hot .This hotel is starting to show its age but room are clean and beds are great, bathrooms shower are not older people friendly as shower are in a small bath tub but this a good hotel and I would return again.

Lovely stay
Two double beds in a lovely large clean room, perfect for two friends meeting up for an evening in Sydney. The price was good, breakfast included, the staff were lovely and the room was clean

Very tired and old rooms..Drastic need of refurbishment. Car parking too far away...Apart from that okay for somewhere in the CBD to put your head down for the night.

Good location, comfortable room
Despite some reviews complaining about cleanliness/bed comfort/worn bathroom, we didn't find problems with above. Bathroom decor a little dated, but that's OK, likewise for corridors. But nothing that impacted on our enjoyment. Room was clean & bed comfortable.

Excellent staff.
Very helpful staff in all areas.Cannot do enough to help you. Lovely atmosphere in the restaurants and bars. Buses, trains and taxis all at the door step. Walking distance to alot of entertainment and attractions.

Hard to get a good sleep due to noises from air con, neighbouring rooms and other random noises. Strange setup for toilet (flushes with switch) and very wasteful of water.

Classic Vintage Charm
Staff are exceptionally friendly. The building has its own classic style. Rooms were very clean and perfect location for easy access to trains and CBD.

Arrived from a long drive with expectations of valet parking. There is no parking on site. This was very disappointing that it was not clearly emphasised on the Wotif website. Had to then drive and walk back to the Hotel which took 20 minutes. The hallway on level 2 looked like it hadn't been vacuumed for sometime. The bathroom smelt musty as did the whole room.

Urgent stay
We have stayed at the Menzies before. So knew we would be looked after. The staff Worked above what i could have asked for to accomodate our request at short notice. Being close to transport. The rooms are comfortable and very clean. I would recommend the Menzies and would again stay here.

Room was clean thought so anyway until I got into bed at 1am and noticed the blood staines on both top and bottom sheets . Was way too tired to call room service to get sheets changed .. Not what I wanted to be doing at 1am, so we slept on top of them :(

Comfortable hotel and close to everything.
Negatives: no where to charge my phone except in the bathroom. No parking on site. Slow checking in- only one employee during the peak checkin time. On a positive side: friendly staff, very professional. Clean n comfortable room. Close to everything in the city. Lots of taxis available :)

City Center Position
I have stayed in this hotel on 5 separate occasions this year, all for business. The hotel is located opposite Wynyard Station making it easily accessible from the airport via the 25 min train trip. You are located just off George Street within a 10 min walk to The Rocks. Overall the hotel is getting dated and tired. Rooms overlooking the park tend to be noisy if you are a light sleeper. The older wing of the hotel is quieter, the rooms are larger, but they are in need of a pick me up. The buffet breakfast should accommodate any tastes and will give you a good start to your day. If you are looking for a convenient base to explore Sydney then this hotel could be for you. The hotel appears to accommodate large travel groups so can be quite busy.

Night noise
I did not have a good sleep at all due to low frequency continuous noise coming from outside, something like a fan forced ventilation stack. Otherwise, a good hotel, fantastic location, helpful staff.

2 Nights Away
Good location for our purposes. Close to transportation links for our purposes. Rates compared to comparable hotels in Sydney and quality of hotels was pretty good. Staff, facilities, food, drinks all top notch. When/if we stay in Sydney again the Menzies Sydney will be considered.

Stayed two nights to watch the AFL game between the Sydney Swans and my team the Adelaide Crows. Pity about the result, but the hotel was a winner. Staff were always very friendly and helpful. Professional service at reception on arrival, smiles and friendly assistance later at the bar - try the mexican beer - very nice indeed. Saturday morning breakfast was more smiles, friendly service and great food. Room was clean and fresh, housekeeping was excellent. Thanks for a great stay. Will book again when next in Sydney

I stayed in old part of hotel. Noisy air cond rattle coming from ductwork. Staff friendly no problems booking in or out. Meals in bar downstairs left a bit to be desired. Cheap rate reflected the room I stayed in. How much more do u need for a review. I have filled the page and have nothing more to say surely this is enough. For gods sake I have nothing more to say I slept in a room for work for three notes. Give me a break

The room is big, but quite old. Internet is slow. Good thing is the universal socket, can connect to any appliance from any part of the world.

Basic but convenient to train.
Only window in the room was to an internal view of other rooms. hard to see what the weather was doing. Had to keep curtains closed as others looking in. TV very small and poor crackling service. No free Wi Fi unless you joined Club. Hairdryer in bathroom broken and had to ask twice for replacement. Fire alarm went off and we were trapped behind smoke door and could not get out - fireman assisted us out eventually. ( False Alarm) Otherwise staff very friendly and helpful especially porters and concierge. Breakfast in ground floor restaurant was lovely.

An oldie but a goodie
Staff were very amenable. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Very handy to amenities and right across from Wynyard Station. An excellent value Happy Hour from 5 to 7pm.

Ok Hotel very handy to everything!
Our stay at the Menzies was very relaxing, the staff were great and overall we would be happy to recommend this hotel to other travelers. But if you don't want to be looking at a brick wall or windows ask for a room with a view.

The Menzies is a great location to stay in Sydney CBD, straight over the road to the Wynyard train station from the airport and close to everything I need in the city.

clean hotel. However the TV has terrible reception, if you decide to stay in. Walls seem to be paper thing: can hear the conversation In the next room, water and doors being open and closed. No control over air-conditioning. Location is great: proximity to everything in the business side of the city. Overall clean hotel. Nice receptionists staff.

Very central location
Nice and close to everything. Clean, modern fittings. The bed was a bit hard. The meals from the restaurant were unbelievable - one of the best steaks I've ever had! Would definitely stay again.

Menzies never fails
I have been staying at the Menzies Hotel for 2 years now and I cannot fault the hotel in any way, the people are great, they are friendly and helpful, the rooms are good sizes and the breakfast is outstanding, the staff looking after breakfast are the highlight of my experience at the Menzies, I cannot rave more about them. Other than that, the hotel's location is the most important outside the service, it's opposite a train station and its so close to everything. Very very nice indeed.

Nice hotel, very well located.
Room was very good - lots of space and bed was comfy. The only negative was that the bathroom was a bit dated and in need of some renovation. Overall, the hotel is beautiful and staff very friendly.

I found all staff to be very friendly and helpful. Especially the concierge. Easy access to everything as the railway was directly over the road.
