I expected more for the price and because they said it was 4-star. There was parking in the building for $50 per night but getting there was quite an adventure due to limited signs. Going in was very narrow and unsafe, lanes were mixed up and there was a dead rat stinking up the whole parking area. One of the TVs in the room was so small and was not working. Shower lets out a high piercing shriek when in use and temp was hard to get right. Location was very good, central and accessible to public transport, within walking distance to QVB, Darling Harbour and Chinatown. Staff who checked us in was very friendly and polite.

The use of twin beds pushed together for a single person is ridiculous - I may as well have been in a single bed. The mattress(es) were cheap and uncomfortable - reminiscent of a school camp. The use of a non fitted bottom sheet means remaking the bed each day as it just comes adrift from mattress. Why is there no supply of Tea Towel or Face washer?

Disappointing, would not stay here again. Below the standard of other Expedia bookings at similar price points. Severely understaffed - either one person, or often, no one at reception. As a result, when the only staff member at reception was overwhelmed by checking, the luggage store was able to be accessed without supervision. Fortunately our luggage was not stolen. The staff I did meet were helpful and pleasant, but there weren’t enough staff. Needs painting and renovation, and new furniture. Marks on the walls, mould around the shower. Apartment was under stocked, eg toilet paper, cutlery, crockery. No salad bowl or cutting board. Only one pan. Possible to eat there, but not to cook. One element of the two element cooktop did not work. Ok to sleep and shower there, but that was all.

Key card didn’t work after “check in”. And there was NO ONE ON SITE to help us. We screamed, knocked, begged for help. Waited for over an hour for someone to come. My children (and other guests) were stranded in the street. And they refused to refund me. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE

I had headaches and call The staff since 9am that if it ok to check out at 11am and the staff was ok until 10 am the cleaner knocked the door so loud and say “ cleaning cleaning ”I answered “ no need to thank you” but the cleaner still shouted so loud and keep asking when I’m going to check out and got into the room I told her I will check out at 11 am I already talk to the staff. I thought she would stop and leave but no she still said “No you can’t ! you have to pay extra ! Call the staff! OMG This is the worst experience I have ever had with the cleaner at the hotel

Location looked good on map but in same dodgy back street around chinatown. Check in good and easy. Rooms were very dated and desperately need some TLC with stains on the walls and ceiling, and furniture looked like stuff picked up from craigs list

Very disappointing overall. This hotel is not suitable for guests, travelling in a wheelchair to enter the hotel, it required our disabled traveller to leave the footpath and travel about 50 m down the middle of the street on quite a steep hill in order to enter through the single curb ramp, then once in the foyer of the hotel A chair blocked the space a wheelchair needs in order to enter the left, and each time we entered or exited the foyer. We needed to move the chair out of the way. We rented two rooms with two bathrooms and laundries. Each room was for two people. Each room came with two small towels, one handtowel and one floormat. No face washers. No extra towels. Even the bedding on the beds was very limited. One thin blanket on each bed and one spare blanket per room. That was not big enough for two people in one room, the washing machine appeared to be washing the close, but when the cycle was finished, there was still litres and litres of water sitting in the drum. In that same room, the clothes dryer would not work without a Tupperware lid jammed in to keep the door closed. We transferred the washing to the second laundry, and this washing machine worked however We fell asleep while the dryer was still going, and when we woke up, the dryer had been going for almost 12 hours non-stop without turning off. Very dangerous. Very poor standard for the price we paid.

The property was OK. I'd say it's 3-star quality. The first room I was given had two blinds that didn't work, plus was on a lower floor close to noisy neighbouring building with industrial aircon running constantly. The concierge didn't seem at all surprised by my complaints and quickly moved me to a better room away from the noise with blinds that worked. But the property has clearly seen better days. There were patches on the walls on both rooms where TVs had been removed from the walls, and other repairs to plasterwork that had not been finished. Was OK to crash for a night, the room and as spacious and clean, and I got it at a reduced rate. But nothing very attractive here.

APX World Square has good sized rooms with kitchens, which are well equipped. There is also a nice pool and the location is good - near the light rail and not too far from Darling Harbour & Barangaroo. On the down side the rooms are a bit old and are not sound proof so it can be quite noisy.

20years ago this hotel was amazing, still great location and rooms are a great layout but is looking very tired. Old dusty lounge, twin king bed mattress were terrible, one was like a banana making it impossible to sleep in middle so my gf and I were basically sharing a single bed. No cover on doona, had blood stains and wasn’t even the right size!! $200 a night I wouldn’t whinge but for the $400 I paid it was well under par. Won’t stay there again

The good: Room/apartment in CBD with a kitchenette and balcony. Price and location is great. The building feels safe and generally good. Basic washing machine and dryer was appreciated and if you wanted to cook, you definitely could. The bad: The beds and pillows were not great, they were two singles pushed together. Beds were firm and you can feel every spring. The pillows were also uncomfortable. The verandah door is not soundproof and you will be woken by people walking in the street below, loud cars and rubbish collection Overall: I would stay here again but I’d ask for a room with a better bed.

Nonsmoking hotel however entire floor reeked of smoke. Front desk remarked it is nonsmoking as if I didn’t know. False advertisement no breakfast offered. Out of date decor. Not worth the money.
