"Where do we start. This was a fabulous hotel. Everything we expected and hoped for. Sonia looked after us from the moment we arrived and we could not have wished for a better host. If you want a modern hotel with square rooms and satellite TV, this is not the place for you. Keeping the style of its initial build 100 years ago makes this place very special from the opulence of the residents lounge, the ship like dining room and the rooms which are old but well cared for. We were fortunate to have a room facing the river with large balcony doors and air conditioning. The breakfast was exceptional. We dropped one star on the amenities only because it would have been nice to have a bar. To be fair there is an honesty bar but its not the same. Deserves all 5 stars overall and we re already looking at dates to return."

"We loved our stay. It was clean and exactly as pictured. The beds were comfortable and the home is well equipped. The pool was lovely. Check in and out was easy. We will stay again. The only minor issue was the hot tub is showing its age. The hot tub cover and head rests need replacing. The pool cover was not operational so we were asked to keep the pool uncovered. This didn’t bother us in the least. The stay was wonderful."

"About a 15 minute walk from the portage along a paved river path. Staff supplied recommendations for dining and Fado options as we were booking in. Excellent buffet breakfast choices and we also enjoyed the Portuguese themed Thursday buffet. There looked to be a number of families staying and a good activity schedule for children. Theme for this hotel was ballet."
