  • Khao Sok National Park was dedicated in December 1980, and shortly thereafter dammed in 1982 creating the largest freshwater lake in Thailand, known as Cheow Larn Lake. The area was ultimately saved due to a pandemic that wiped out the local population, giving it the name “Khao Sop” - Corpse Mountain. It then witnessed guerrilla warfare, providing an ideal location for natural protection, which ultimately discouraged logging and hunting industries from taking form. Great food, great sunsets

The restaurant is phenomenal, maybe some of the best food we had in Thailand. All excursions are extra and the main activity is really to just watch the sunrise and sunset, kayak, swim, and just enjoy the sounds of the first around you. The villas get pretty warm during the day, even with the AC running, though it all cools off nicely at night.

Absolutely beautiful location, staff great menu lovely 2 course breakfasts were fab. The chilled out break ever would defo recommend expensive but I would Say it is worth every penny

Jaw dropping views, excellent restaurant, and a relaxing atmosphere are the top three reasons 500 Rai is place we will definitely be visiting again. Our son loved feeding the fish from the restaurant. The staff were all super kind and helpful. If it's in the budget to upgrade to the Honeymoon Suite, I highly recommend it. The private pool and extra privacy is worth it.

The resort is absolutely beautiful and amazing. The bungalos are right on the water and just perfect. Staff was very friendly and room service for drinks was almost immediate. The water was immaculate and the rooms were clean and new. Even the pool was amazing. A couple of things to watch out for: you need to book your boat transport to and from in advance; this is not made clear in the information received. The directions to the boat pier are not clear; we had trouble finding it and almost missed our boat; I do not suggest buying the "Bonus Bucks" offer. This allows you to pre-buy 6000 Bhat of spending (about CAD$240) for 5000 (about CAD$200). We bought it only to find out when we got there that the spa service was fully booked and they were completely out of wine - the two main things we were doing to spend on. Otherwise it was A1 all around.

We had a lovely, relaxing break, thank you 500 Rai. Arrival - warm welcome after a beautiful 1hr 15mins long tail boat ride to the resort. You can only take light luggage, but bigger luggage can be stored at the pier. 500 Rai have their own office at the pier. Staff - Everyone was so helpful and friendly. It was smiles all around and they cannot do enough for you. Thank you! Rooms - We had a villa and the views were incredible. We were so happy, and very lucky with the weather during our stay. You get 1 hour WiFi per person, per stay. Electricity and air conditioning is 24hours. Each room has its own kayak tied up outside ready for you to use whenever you like. Sitting on the veranda with a cocktail, watching the stars is a great end to an evening. Service hours - Due to the chilled nature of the experience, last orders for food is 7.30pm, and the bar shuts at 8.30pm. Food - Was a bit hit and miss for me personally. Breakfast was amazing. I found the cuts in the chicken dishes too fatty, but the veg dishes were better in the main menu. The prices are more expensive (not unreasonable) than other resorts in Thailand, but this is to be expected as you are a captured audience and they have ship in the supplies. Family vs Couples - If you are looking for a quiet place for couples this may not necessarily be for you. It is not adult only, so you have to expect families, and most were families during our stay. The issue is that there is only 1 space as the restaurant/bar,

Sammy was so wonderful with our young daughters - braiding their hair, providing colouring to keep them occupied whilst we ate. All staff were friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay again and rate 500Rai above Panvaree The Greenery where we stayed afterwards.

Beautiful…

We did a 2 night stay in February. The resort is clean and orderly. The staff was accommodating and attentive. There are a few things that would have been great to know prior to our arrival. - meal options (buffet vs ala carte) are very different. Even regarding drinking water. Inquire well before choosing. - ‘coupons’ are sold at the dock prior to boat departure that provide discounted prices for food and activities. Coupons available at the dock are better priced than at the resort. Be aware that these are non refundable. Verify that coupons May by used for activities is purchasing at the dock. - activities may fill up very quickly and are only 1 time a day so for most 1-3 day stays you need to book as soon as you arrive. - the room air conditioners really do not cool the rooms well. Also because of ‘power’ issues, deluxe villas do not have 24 hr air conditioning as they turn off the ability for air conditioning in the morning until early evening. We opted to pay extra for 24 hr air. However the very poor cooling units were not worth the extra money. The resort is clean, secluded and in a beautiful environment. Again the staff there do a wonderful job. The pool is maintained well and they have a great 2 for 1 drink happy hour from 3-6.

Beautiful location, let down by everything else

We booked a villa. The scenery was beautiful, the resort had numerous issues which affected our stay. The toilet/shower doors were very difficult to close due to warping and lack of maintenance. The front light didn't work, so the room was dark. The air-conditioning hardly worked and only barely managed to keep the room cool at night (between 8pm and 6am). During the day the air conditioner was so poor that it was cooler outside than inside. The entire time you're at the resort you are being nickel-and-dimed to get more money from you. Activities, internet, paddle boards all cost more money. We ended up spending 7000 baht at the resort, for two people, on a two-night stay. This only covered a single cave tour and four meals, no alcohol. We knew the reason we stayed there was the location, so we could ignore or forgive all of the above if it wasn't for one thing....The food. At the resort was the worst food we have experienced in our 3 weeks stay in Thailand. The dishes were bland, cold and in a few cases were completely inedible. Prices were over 5x what you’d pay anywhere else in Thailand, and prices listed online do not list the restaurant service charge (10%) and local taxes (7%). The meal portions are incredibly small. If the food was even halfway edible, we would have rated the resort a 5/5, however the food left us hungry and miserable. Beautiful setting but would not recommend for more than a night. Better accommodation can be found outside the national park.

Le site est magnifique et vaut toutes les etoiles possible, parlons de l hotel. Il est flottant, c est un bon boin, il a une piscine dans le lac. Les chambres sont rustiques et confortable. Cependant pour le prix, elles ne sont pas la hauteur. Un ventilateur qui grince en tournant, une partie de la cabane flottante grince avec les vaguellettes, car un tenant est dessoude, le kayak etait en mauvais etat et repare a multiple endroit. L eau de la douche part directment dans le lac, 1h d'internet gratuit apres c est payant...Le prix pour moi n est pas en coherence avec la qualite de l'hotel, mais plutot le site. Aucune information via hotels.com qu il y a des charges a prevoir en plus pour atteindre l hotel. Soit environ 50€ en plus.

Het was een droom verblijf. We zijn hier 3 nachten gebleven. De rust de omgeving het uitzicht onze water villa waren fantastisch. Ik kon gewoon niet wachten om s’ochtends wakker te worden rond 05:30 om de zonsopgang te kijken . En het water was zo schoon en lekker warm het was heerlijk om erin te zwemmen. Wat wij vooral heel fijn vonden waren het personeel. Ze waren ontzettend aardig en vriendelijk. Heel goed getraind om mensen op watten te leggen. Vaak kwamen ze tijdens het diner even praatje maken of alles naar wens was en echt gemeend interesse tonen voor de gasten. We hadden direct een leuke klik met de gastvrouwen Thicha en Nipha , zelfs de stagiair Tyler deed super goed zijn best om ons goed te bedienen. Ik kan alleen onze waardering tonen voor zo’n geweldige team die ons verblijf nog een extra leuk hebben gemaakt.

Fabuleux ! Expérience vraiment extraordinaire et hors du temps L’accueil était vraiment super, le personnel est très sympathique et aux petits soins La nourriture est excellente (bravo au chef !) La vue est à coupé le souffle et les excursions valent vraiment le détour ! Même le trajet en bateau pour y accéder est superbe Seul regret : ne pas être resté plus longtemps Petit bémol sur la salle de bain, un petit rafraîchissement serait à prévoir mais cela n’enlève en rien la qualité du séjour et la beauté du lieu

Skønt ophold, men med plads til lidt forbedringer

Fantastisk udsigt og omgivelser, helt klart det man bruger den ellers høje pris på! Personalet var også super søde og hjælpsomme - dog havde vi problemer med transporten videre, som de ellers skulle have haft styr på. Hotellet fremstår lidt slidt og hvis man bor på deluxe værelse, skal man være forbedret på, at man kan hører alt naboen laver - fordi man “deler” hytte. Vi fik både skønne planlagte ture ud og vi sejlede i kajakkerne, hvilket var skønt! Maden var også rigtig fin og gode drinks. Alt i alt et godt ophold, men med plads til forbedringer

Perfekt oplevelse 👏så dejligt og smukt udsigt over søen stilhed❤️🙏god mad og aervice. Kajakker uden for hytten. Jungletrek og caves alt var perfekt.🙏🙏🙏🙏

Het is takkeduur en de wildlife safari kan je overslaan. Heel duur voor anderhalf uur varen waarvan een half uur in het donker. 1 aap en een waterbuffel gezien. Niet de moeite waard. Personeel is heel matig, allemaal jongeren en hebben geen idee wat ze moeten doen en je wordt niet goed geholpen. Voor €500 per nacht zou je goed personeel verwachten.
