Ursa Major Cabin - 10 mins from Natural Bridge State Park, Red River Gorge
Ursa Major Cabin is named for the constellation "Big Bear", which is also the Big Dipper. This is our newest cabin on Star Gap road, set on a private 5 acre lot in the heart of the Red River Gorge. It is about 1/2 mile from the Red River and 10 minutes from Natural Bridge State Park, Red River Gorge Geological Area and the Daniel Boone National Forest hiking trails. Explore trails by day and sit back and relax around the fire circle and view stars at night. Or sit and view stars from the hot tub out back. This modern cabin has concrete counters, big windows with views, a large ktichen, two bedrooms rooms with queen size beds, a large bathroom with a full bath tub. In the winter, enjoy the wood burning fireplace for a cozy enviroment. There is a grill, patio, firepit and plenty of outdoor space to hang out in the warmer weather. We reguarly see dear crossing the yard or standing to graze on the spacious grassy area out front. Be aware of chiggers in the yard if you sit and have a picnic on the grass!

My wife and I had an excellent time at Ursa Major! Very comfortable property, excellent views, plenty of accessibility to nearby attractions. Would definitely recommend!
In an area of country-themed, wood-walled cabins, finding an updated, pet-friendly home with nice views plus privacy is a find. We enjoyed our stay, thank you.
My husband, myself, and our dog stayed here for a weekend of hiking in Red River Gorge. The location is pretty close to all of the trails we hiked and the house itself was perfect for coming back at night to relax.
Loved the style of this place! Kitchen and living area especially - and the high ceilings make it feel bigger than it is. Bed was comfortable and the sofa was nice to relax in as well. Perfect location for where we wanted to hike.
Ursa Major was very nice and matched our expectations. The two bedrooms have cute decor. We enjoyed the porch, fire ring, and hot tub. Plenty of room outside. Kitchen was well stocked with pots/pans and dishes.
We enjoyed the simplicity, artfulness and easy connection with the beautiful nature surrounding the cabin this stay offered.Close to hiking/ cozy to stay inside, fun games offered and engaging book collection. The home made soap was a
The cabin was lovely - a nice mix of rustic and modern. Clean and a good location for activities. The host was readily available and easy to work with. The hot tub was wonderful on cool nights . The only thing I would say otherwise is the couch is a bit small- 2 adults really couldn’t lay on it comfortably. Would definitely stay again !
Perfect place to stay for a week long climbing trip to the Red! Kitchen had everything for cooking meals and beds were comfy enough. Plenty of shared common space for 2 couples. Hot tub was clean and was nice to have after a long day of climbing. Good communication with property manager. Would recommend and stay again!
What a cute small home located at the top of a hill and with great privacy! Hope they decide to get a TV for one of the bedrooms in the future but that’s my only complaint!! Would stay here again in a heartbeat - the hot tub was super fun and lights up at night which was a great perk. Can’t wait to stay here again
We had a great 1 night stay at Ursa Major. The stars were incredible! The teenagers loved the hot tub and everything appeared clean. Unfortunately there were lots of ants in the shower and we saw a very brave mouse several times. This made sleeping difficult. 😔
We loved our stay at Ursa Major. The cabin is in a great location and a lovely setting, especially for autumn colors. The design and decor are thoughtful and the cabin is well-appointed for guest comfort and convenience. The large side patio with sliding door access to both bedrooms is a nice design. The large outdoor table even expands for large groups. We made use of the barbecue grill, fire pit, and hot tub. We slept like babies in the peaceful setting and comfortable bed. We enjoyed ourselves so much on this recharge/R&R trip that we plan a repeat next October!
Love the size of the cabin, really cute atmosphere with the retro living room area. Bedrooms were decorated with some antique furniture pieces. The sliding doors were awesome especially the two living room ones that led to the concrete steps. We enjoyed sitting there in the evenings while our toddler roamed.
The cabin is quite literally a box and maybe not all the finishes are perfect. But it is a comfortable stay and we enjoyed the modern feel of the place! Great, central location! Our WiFi worked pretty well to attend zoom meetings.
Very clean and nice cabin. The hot tub was super nice after a long day of hiking even if it was outside in the chill air. Very quiet area. High quality kitchenware. Loved that you can control the temp in each bedroom and living room separately. Beware that the area is very dark at night. Pay attention to their directions. There is no TV -- seen some kind of small TV in the closet. The wifi signal is not too strong.
There is no microwave or toaster which we believe is needed.
You do not need 4-wheel drive to get to the cabin -- just make sure you park on the gravel and not get stuck in the mud like we did. We love the area and will be back again.
I've stayed in RRG a lot over the last two years and this was one of my favorite rentals. The location put me in a great place for accessing all of my favorite hiking spots in 35 minutes or less and right to town for dinners after a long day while at the same time delivering on all of my cabin needs- true dark, crickets, peace, and a good fire pit! The cabin is really well decorated, beds are comfy, and the cozy level was high. Heads up to parents with little kids: my toddler found a mouse trap in a cabinet I thought I'd checked and came SO close to catching her finger in it. Check spaces before little hands explore because ouch! That would've been a terrible start to the trip. I would absolutely rent here again. We loved it. PS hot tub was super clean and the bath was a welcome gift after big hiking!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cabin. It was clean and had well-furnished kitchen. The hot tub is a nice addition to soothe sore muscles after hiking. We saw an indigo bunting, deer and fawn, and group of turkeys with young.
