Small rooms - but you are in Russia. You cannot expect big rooms here for the price. It fit a double bed, a small walk way to the bed, a small bathroom. After all of your bags are in the room, you will not fit much else in there. But it is what you expect.
It was a clean room, the shower was spotless. Again, with the small room, the toilet was almost in the shower. But we had no real issue with that.
The staff mostly spoke enough English to get by. We did not ask them too many questions as we had others to show us around.
The location was great. You could not really do any better in this city. You are close to all of the main sites. An easy 5 min walk to the hermitage, 5 min to the main church, close enough to a metro (which we never even used) and a lot of restaurants and bars around. I will recommend a Georgian restaurant a block away on Nevsky (under an Asian restaurant). Also, Spy Bar down the road is also interesting to stop by.
The hotel does offer their own taxi driver for airport rides. A note of caution on this - he got us to the airport on time, he was on time to the hotel, and we had no issue with his driving. It cost around 1200 rubles for the ride, so it was a reasonable rate. He did, however, take us to the wrong terminal. We were flying international and he took us to the main international terminal - but we apparently were on an airline that only flies from the other terminal. So, after some confusion and trying to find someone who spoke English, we found that out. It cost us another 700 rubles (we got ripped off, but were in a hurry by this point) to get to the other terminal. So, just make sure you know which terminal and that shouldnt be a problem.
There was no real noise complaints. You could hear the doors opening and closing, but for the price, it was no issue. The bed was comfortable and looked clean. The halls did somewhat smell of smoke even though it was a non-smoking hotel, but I think everything in Russia smells of smoke due to everyone's clothes smelling of smoke.
We never made it to breakfast, so no comment there.
