The condo was clean and had all the amenities one could ask for. The views from the condo were beautiful. We appreciated the location. It was easy to access but away from the hustle and bustle of tourist areas.
The property was great - we all had space and the ability to hit the beach at a moment's notice was awesome! One thing we were unaware was that there wasn't AC in the living room - which was a bit unexpected. We stayed in our rooms to enjoy the AC, but could have perhaps used more of the living room if it was cooler.

Spacious property with two large comfortable bedrooms, set over three floors. The two bedrooms both have A/C which was great, although the main living and kitchen area did get quite warm and humid at times as there is no A/C in this area. Great location for Dickenson Bay beaches and the surrounding area, but a car is definitely needed to get around. Helen was a great host and responded straight away to all our questions.
We really enjoyed staying at Calypso. It was a lovely cottage with a wonderful view. We enjoyed the location and the verandah very much. Only thing to note is that it doesn’t include any shampoo and such for showers. It’s not listed in the description at all so nothing wrong with the posting. I was just so used to having those that I missed that it wasn’t included in this one
Calypso cottage has a beautiful view. Air conditioning works wonderfully and there is plenty of space for everyone to spread out. Mid- week housekeeping would have been nice as towels required washing up. Dryer did not work and the humidity makes for a long time drying on the veranda. Cottage is set up nicely with a short walk to Dickinson Beach and restaurants in the neighborhood.
The property, pool and villa are lovely, well appointed and maintained. Beautiful view of Dickenson Bay, short (10 minute) walk to the beach. Nice and quiet for sleeping and both bedrooms are air conditioned. One has an extra (single) bed where our teen daughter slept, the room was spacious with a large wicker chair between our beds so nobody felt crowded. Our host was responsive, quickly answering any questions, and also left a helpful list of recommended restaurants. Highly recommend this villa and a stay at Dickenson Beach which has several great lunch and dinner restaurants and a gorgeous, silky soft white sand beach.
The property was fabulous for what we needed. We used it as a base to travel the island and see all that Antigua had to offer.
It was useful having parking available and the swimming pool was just what was needed for a cooling dip on returning back home.
The beds were comfortable and the balcony area was great especially with the fans on.
We could have done with instructions on how to use the oven/grill and the WiFi was fairly non-existant unless you were out the front door of the property.
All in all I would definitely choose the property again and would be delighted with what I got.
Property was exactly as advertised. We stayed for 14 nights and the unit was clean, well maintained and had everything we needed. Enjoyed the views from the veranda and spent many hours there. Walked every morning down the road to dickenson bay beach and a lovely beach walk there. Toured the island and a good location for touring lots of beaches and attractions. We appreciated having the use of beach chairs and cooler. We used the patio umbrella on the beach but struggled setting it up so would have appreciated an actual beach umbrella for shade. We used the fans most of the time and only air conditioning for a couple hours in our bedroom before we went to bed. Quiet area but you do hear a little noice from the road below. Everyone was very friendly and we enjoyed our time here and would recommend this unit.
Pros:
Easy check in, great communication with host, clean, good location, great view from the large balcony.
Cons:
Definitely rent a car as walking anywhere in the heat is painful as the property is at the top of a big hill. The cleaner cleaned our clothes but mixed expensive white clothes with coloured and ruined the whites. Mosquitos are rampant even when keeping doors and windows shut. Aircon only in bedrooms, would’ve been nice in the main living room/kitchen.
Our family enjoyed our week at Calypso Cottage. Helen provided exceptional communication, responding very quickly to all messages. The apartment itself is spacious and comfortable, with a lovely verandah where we spent all our time. The kitchen is functional, equipped with plenty of dishes/cups/glasses and basic cooking tools. Drinking water must be purchased in bottles. Bedrooms are a good size; bring an eye mask if you are sensitive to early morning light. We were happy to find that there were no bugs - we never even took our bug spray out of our bags (Antigua was having a heat wave during the May week that we were there - maybe it was too hot even for the bugs!) That said, we did keep the kitchen clean and did not leave garbage out, as requested. The property at Halcyon Heights Condominiums is beautifully landscaped and well cared for - lots of lovely bright blooms everywhere and a great pool to cool off in at the end of a hot day.
Helen has a beautiful and very spacious house. We were two adults and two small boys (7 and 8), but you could easily stay there with two families - definitely two couples and a child. There was everything we needed there and having two bathrooms really does make all the difference - and having a washing machine! Plenty of towels and linen. The house was fantastic. Helen was also incredibly quick to answer any of my questions - and very helpful. The swimming pool area was perfect and a great size pool for our young boys. It is a lovely quiet residential area and there were few guests but all very friendly. We had thought that the island would still be really busy until the end of April and the end of the UK school holidays - but actually there was nobody there at all. This suited us as we really wanted a quiet break just our family - and we had hired a car - so had the freedom to go to any of the beaches we wanted. But I think it would be quite good to note that nearly all of the beach cafes and bars were closed at this time of year - and only opened on cruise ship days otherwise it wasn't worth it for them...... The other thing is that we had not anticipated the price of food in the supermarkets. SO so so so expensive. Really you have to go to the market otherwise it costs so much as everything is imported. This is of course no reflection on the lovely house - just maybe useful information for anyone looking to book in April. We had a wonderful stay.
I spent the best month of my life in Antigua here, so definitely going to give the property all the stars, although I will mention a few things at the end.
The home is very spacious, the bedroom upstairs is beautiful, the views are amazing and the decor is very cute. I was able to work remotely for a month here, the internet works fine. The bed is a bit firm, if I had to suggest anything it would be a mattress topper to make that room absolutely perfect, but its a very nice bedroom and bathroom.
The middle floor is the kitchen and living room, love the furniture and decor. If the two fans are on and the doors are open with the mosquito netting closed its comfortable, but there is no a/c so it does get warm on that floor. We did not have an issue with mosquitoes and were able to keep the doors open almost all the time, the mosquito netting/curtains are perfect.
The bottom floor is so/so, the beds are comfortable and the shower is very nice but it is the Caribbean, we did have a few insects in the downstairs bathroom we had to use Raid for. The home is very clean and the downstairs bathroom is the only place we had this issue after rain. The host was able to send the gardener and pest control so the issue should be taken care of.
The location is great, parking was easy and we were able to drive down the hill to Dickenson Bay and park. The beach at the bottom of the hill is awesome and Treehouse Beach Club is down the street which has great food & cabanas :)
My husband and I came to Antigua to celebrate our 25th anniversary. The online description and pictures of this property looked amazing and the price was excellent so we booked it.
We were disappointed when we arrived because everything in person looked a little dated and worn and the beds were QUEEN size, not king. With a 6'3 husband, it's kind of an issue. The AC in the bedrooms worked great but there is no AC in the living room, which we knew. The problem is that there is absolutely no air flow in the living room. The windows don't fully open, only have slat openings, the ceiling fan doesn't work and you can't leave the patio doors open because of the bugs. The lanai is beautiful and offers a great view, but the mosquitoes were quite bad. So we couldn't be outside because of the bugs and we couldn't be inside because it was too hot.
It just wasn't the place for us to celebrate our 25th anniversary, so we checked out early and went to a 5 star resort on Fryes Beach, which I would definitely recommend.
On the positive side, property is very clean, in a great location, and the owners do provide everything you need to enjoy the island. Under different circumstances, this place might be right for others just wasn't for us.
We had a truly excellent stay at Calypso Cottage! The villa has an amazing view, great space throughout and a well equipped kitchen. The pool and gardens are lovely with an abundance of tropical fruits growing all around. The location is great for accessing the local beaches and there is a wealth of information from Helen on how best to enjoy the island. The pool has just been renovated and although the work over ran into our stay, Helen was very attentive to our concerns. I would definitely recommend this villa to friends and family.
great condo with everything you need. Lanai( porch) was where we lived withbeautifull views, birds and breeze. A bit far from beaches so recommend renting a car to get around.
The host was very friendly informative and extremely helpful. The appartment was lovely and clean and had everything we needed to enjoy our family stay. The views were beautiful and location was easy to access. Thank you for having us, highly recommend.
This is a wonderful, warm home with all the amenities needed at your disposal. The views from the veranda and pool are exceptional. Helen, the owner, was always gracious, accessible, and gave us great recommendations regarding beaches, restaurants and fun things to do on the island. The weather was perfect. We really did feel we were in paradise! Can’t wait to return.
An excellent property 10 mins from the airport located by one of the best beaches on the island. Wonderful views and very comfortable accommodation if you wish to self cater when not enjoying the local eateries. A great place from which to explore the island on various days out. Hiring a hire is a must. Large supermarkets nearby. Lovely pool, what more could you ask for.
