Charming coastal cottage that offers a short walk to the beach and bay. Located on a secluded corner lot that offers a large outdoor living space and lots of privacy.

Our new kitchen offers stylish granite countertops, white cabinets, and new appliances.

The kitchen, living room, and sunroom are all open to each other and offer views of the two decks and the lush vegetation.

Two bedrooms and one bath. Perfect for a small family! Our laundry room includes a washer and dryer and has a separate entrance.

You will have an outdoor shower, plenty of deck space, and shady spaces for your faces!

This is a single story house that offers a handicapped ramp.

We love your 4-legged children and small pets are welcome.

This is the best bargain on the island!

In the event that you need to cancel, we provide a full refund 60 days or more prior to arrival. Within 60 days there is no refund.

*We strongly recommend the purchase of trip insurance with trip interruption rider when booking this reservation.

There are three exterior security cameras on the property. If the cameras are removed or tampered with during the renters stay, a $500 fee will be assessed. All cameras are disabled upon arrival of guests.

Natural beauty

Great place nestled in some beautiful coastal scrub, very private and quiet. Short walk to beach. We rented a golf cart which was fun and a great way to check out the environs. Very clean and all the amenities were there. Loved the place and was a perfect place for our four.

It was great to be so close to the beach and still have so much privacy! Loved the outdoor shower! It was perfect for the 2 of us and our pup, but personally I would have been uncomfortable if we were traveling with anyone else as we needed the spare bedroom to store our stuff, that and only 1 bathroom

A FABULOUS property

This is the cutest bungalow, well done, well supplied, very clean, perfect location, very private and pretty property inside and outside. The owner was VERY easy to work and communicative. We had a great time on SGI and this property was perfect. We highly recommend staying here for a small family or even a couple ❤️

Annversery fun

We love the Gulf but didn't want to be over run with tourist. So we booked this and we were very happy and had no complaints. Nice shops just back off the island in Apalachicola.Dog friendly almost everywhere.(but we didn't know)

Just as described!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Papa Shack! The house was just as described in the listing. It was very clean and comfortable and in a great location. Extremely easy access to the beach. We rented a golf cart so it took no time to get to the public beach access but I imagine the walk isn’t too bad either. The area was nice, quiet, and relaxing. We loved that there were beach accessories and toys for us to use as well. I definitely recommend Papa Shack to anyone traveling to SGI.

Great Dog Friendly Beach Trip

The house was clean. Beds were very comfortable. Nice location which also provided privacy. It was our first time to St. George Island. Being such a dog friendly Island was very fun! Only place I know where dogs were allowed on the beach and all were well behaved. The beaches were beautiful. My dog Ginger loved her first beach experience. Larry, Ginger, and I are going back in June. Yea! The property manager was extra nice and accommodating. Thank you!

Ultimate r and r

Nice little place and comfortable with an easy walk to the beach. Home away from home. Bedrooms could use some curtains because neighbor's flood light is on and off and shines in bright in the windows at night. Outdoor areas coukd use some cover. To get out of the sun you have to go in the house. Also, be aware of biting fleas in the yard. Overall it was a very much needed relaxing week.

Perfect escape

Took a short beach break with my two teen daughters. Right when we pulled into the driveway we knew it was going to be a perfect, its like having your own section of the island away from all the noise, neighbors are close but you can’t see them through the growth. Inside is remodeled and well decorated, provisioned. Kitchen is modern, sitting room is peaceful and bedrooms are perfect, my daughters picked the queen size room just for the cute furnishings even though I offered them the larger king room. AC in each room is fantastic. Very short direct walk to the beach, great spot away from the crowds. Would highly recommend to couples or small families looking to get away from the crowds.

Mommy and daughter spring break getaway

This is my daughter and I second year vacation at St. George Island. The papa shack was super cute and the exact size we needed for my daughter and I and our two little dogs. We had tons of privacy to make it feel like our own and it was just a quick walk to the beach. It was a ways down from the main portion of the island so if you wanted to go there, you needed to drive, but it wasn’t far at all. All the people on St. George are so friendly. The check-in process was seamless and the checkout process was super easy. I wish the weather was more cooperative, but a cold front was coming in, but definitely cannot control that. If it was warmer, we would’ve taken advantage of the outside a little more because it is so Covered I think we could’ve truly enjoyed the little lights outside more. Super cute would like to stay again.

Dirty

This property was not clean even though you paying a cleaning fee. The bed sheets had not been changed. My daughter washed her sheets because she seen hair on the sheets. The dishwasher you could not use because the dishwasher door could not open completely because the refrigerator was to big and sticking out so far it blocked it from opening completely.

Second time, and we’ll be back!

Love this property so much, it’s beautiful, private and perfectly located just a short walk to the beach. Our favorite part is the privacy of the home itself, the way it’s completely surrounded by trees with no over looking homes or visible road front. Pulling into the driveway or walking the small path through the trees makes it feel like you’re in a much more secluded area away from the crowds. The home is very well decorated and outfitted for a couple or small family. An absolute family favorite.

We had a fantastic experience at the Papa Shack! It was just a short walk to the beach but felt private and quiet — the perfect mix. The home was clean, comfortable, and had great amenities like a washer and dryer.The host was incredibly communicative and made everything easy. We brought our two senior dogs for a special trip, and they had the best time exploring and relaxing. Truly a memorable stay — highly recommend!

Great stay at the coastal cottage!

My family & I loved this place. The property feels secluded and private, yet it's a short walk to the beach and you can hear the waves crashing from the porch. The cottage living areas are spacious and open and had everything we needed to make meals at home if we wanted. Bedrooms were comfortable. All very clean and organized. We really loved this place!

Perfect cottage for a week of peace and rest. When you need a reset from everyday life, this is the perfect place! Very comfortable. Spent our days back and forth between the beach and napping.

Great house for pets

The house is set up to allow pets. No carpeting, very private and quiet and our dogs did great here when we left to fish on the beach, which is a short walk down the road.The house is not fancy but had everything we needed and extremely clean.Just an FYI - there were no toiletries or beach towels so bring your own if you stay.Owner was very quick to respond with my questions.

Outstanding visit

My husband and I came down to celebrate his birthday. The owner is always easy to work with and papa shack has everything you need. Cozy and the beds are so comfortable. Allowed our dog to come and its very private. Close to beach and bay. 2nd time to rent papa shack And we will be back.

First time stay and loved it! I have vacationed at the island for 12 years. This year, I needed something all on one level for my senior dog. Papa Shack was perfect! Cozy, comfortable and I loved the naturally enclosed yard. It was like my own private oasis. Nicely equipped and furnished. Will be back!!
