We had a wonderful time staying here! The Cabin exceeded all of our expectations and we highly recommend staying there. Thanks to Rob and his family for letting us stay there!
The cabin has all the basics for a nice stay. I liked being on the quiet side of the island and having some trails right outside the door. The owners respond very quickly to any questions.
Fantastic central location in the Southwest Harbor. Pleasantly surprised there is a direct walking path just outside the cabin to Acadia National Park trails. No complaints whatsoever. Very clean, new plushy towels, comfortable bed. Contacted the host one time to request paper products and a pan for cooking, and they delivered in less than one hour! Will definitely recommend this cabin to friends and family looking for a spot in Acadia!
Accessible to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Quiet and “ out of the way.” A well kept secret. All the comforts necessary while being away from home.
Location, location, location! Not only did this cute cabin meet all our needs and wants, it is perfectly nestled against the park. Walk into Acadia or take a short drive to all your ANP and island destinations. Thanks, Rob and Marge. We truly enjoyed our stay.
My fiancée and I visit maine annually for my birthday. This trip has been the best one yet! Rob was very kind and finding the house was very easy. The cabin made for a lovely, intimate week of being in the middle of a beautiful island. Thank you for letting us stay at your beautiful cabin! Hope to stay again one day! - Kenedie and Alex from Rhode Island
Rob & Marj have a wonderful Cabin that we really enjoyed. It was perfect for our week trip to Acadia. It was centrally located to most things and it was quiet and private. It was clean and had all the amenities that we needed. There are many places to eat near by and plenty to do in Acadia and in nearby Bar Harbor. Overall it’s a very great stay. The pictures don’t highlight how great it really is! I would definitely stay here again when I’m in this part of Maine.
Great 😌little place on the “quiet side” of desert island!
This Is a great little cabin in the woods. Walking distance to some beautiful trails. And a short drive to everything you want to see at Acadia national Park. The cabin was extremely clean and beautiful knotty pine. The only negative I would say is that the ad says it sleeps four. It would be very tight with four people, Rob and Marge were very attentive and available whenever we needed something. Would highly recommend cabin one.
The cabin was very cozy and backs up to some great Acadia hiking trails. Just a few miles from Southwest Harbor town proper. 30 minute drive to busy side of Acadia. Only negative is there is no where to store clothes besides a few hooks on the wall. Not that big of a deal tho. Lived out of suitcase just fine.
We stayed at the Acadia Explorer cabin 1 for two weeks in August. All the reviews are true! It’s located on the Quiet Side of the island, with its own access to many trails (it’s a short walk from the Gilley Field parking), so there’s a lot of hiking that can be done without having to drive. The cabin was clean and well equipped, as outlined in the description. EV drivers, there’s an electrical outlet outside (bring your trickle charger). Cabin 1 might be a little small for 4 people unless it’s a family with children. Rob is a great host, communications was quick and easy and when we needed something, it was taken care within minutes.
We had a beautiful vacation, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
A quiet cabin within walking distance of Acadia NP
Yes, you read that right. A short private trail enters park property and leads to a connector of the Western Mountain trail.
A short drive west of Southwest Harbor, you'll find this side of the park a bit less overwrought than the gridlock of Bar Harbor. Don't worry though, there are enough restaurants and cafes within a fifteen minute drive to cover all your meals.
The cabin sits along with another (soon joined by a third) on a wooded private parcel. The general area is unappealing light industrial, but that has no impact on the quallity of your stay.
The host was friendly, helpful, and unobtrusive. The property was neat with modern amenities permitting you to cook as much as desired. We used the gas heater a little, and found it responded quickly and effectively.
Definitely need a vehicle to stay here, but you'll find the park is really not hard to get around and there are many activities within a short drive.
When planning a trip to Acadia with my kids, I didn’t really know where to stay. I was fortunate to stumble upon this little cabin in Southwest Harbor. If you’re looking for frills, this isn’t your place, but with a location as perfect as this cabin, you don’t need them. The inside is cozy and met our needs well. The outdoor area is beautiful and has a grill, picnic table and plenty of yard space for the kids to play. The property backs right up to the park, so you can venture out on a nature walk right from the cabin. The location is great! It’s very quiet and peaceful and set back from town, so there’s no neighboring noise. Southwest Harbor is a quaint little town, which had a pace I preferred much more than that of Bar Harbor. All the hikes we went on were 30 minutes or less of a drive. The furthest we went was to Schoodic Point and that was about an 80 minute drive. There is a beautiful lake in Southwest Harbor that offers slightly warmer swimming water than the ocean offers. This was a wonderful place to hang our hats after long days in the park and definitely a place I’d recommend to others.
Great overall stay. Our host Rob greeted us upon arrival. Had wood provided to use for fire pit and even a bags game if so inclined. Location excellent on quiet side backs up to hiking trails of Acadia NP. Bed was very soft and laundry on site. We loved our week there and would stay again if we make it back to beautiful Acadia NP.
