Rustic Retreat Cabin for Families/Sm Groups, "Shalom"

This little one-room cabin is ADORABLE! It has everything you need (and nothing you don't) for a quiet getaway to fill your soul. We're located just 30 minutes outside Duluth, MN, but when you're here you'll feel like you're in the middle of nowhere. While you're here you'll have access to our enormous sandy beach on Lake Superior. The beach is a 15-minute walk from the cabin, and is absolutely stunning.

Here are a few things you'll want to know before you book this cabin:
- The cabin is clean, comfortable, and elegant, but still quite rustic. The cabin is available year-round, with a propane fireplace for your main source of heat. It has electricity, but no running water. In the kitchenette is a water dispenser for washing & drinking. Adjacent to the cabin is your own private low-odor outhouse that has a little heater and a light you can turn on from inside the cabin. Just a one-minute walk from the cabin is the main lodge, which has public restrooms for showers and flushing toilets.
- There is no drive-in access to this cabin. You can unload your vehicle about a one or two-minute walk from the cabin. We offer hand carts and/or utility sleds for bringing luggage to the cabin. After you've unloaded your vehicle, we'll ask you to park your car back in the parking lot along the side of the road.
- Please watch this 4-minute tour video before reserving this cabin. The video will hopefully help give you a sense of what the cabin is like so you can decide if it's a good fit for you before you make a reservation: https://youtu.be/-Htu1ZCJtv4

Cozy little cabin. The fridge was dirty and we had to empty the bucket under the sink but those were the only issues. Beautiful area for walking. We loved the beach. Definitely going back next year.

Cabin and property were great. We love staying here and enjoy the nature and the lake! Many opportunities for other activities, depending on what you want to do just a car drive away. The only bad part of this trip was the pot holes on the county road, we just drove around them best we could. We will be back again!

comfortable and peaceful

Wonderful property - my extended family rented all 6 cabins for a few nights after a wedding. Cabins are clean and comfortable, property is beautiful, staff is super friendly and helpful. We enjoyed campfires every night and paddling on the river and swimming in the lake.

Unfortunately during our stay during the middle of July it was rainy and cold most of the time so mother nature prevented us from really enjoying the time there. So we didn't get to explore the area much to make any assessment on that part. We chose the Shalom cabin because I had wanted to sit on ithe porch and watch the sun set/rise (which good o mother nature ruined that one ). I knew it was one of the older cabins by the pictures and online video and accepted that, the only major problem with it is at one time in the past the roof had leaked and the inner panels were a little concerning to me because how much they were bowing down. Upon outside inspection I did notice newish roofing shingles, and it did NOT leak inside. I know it's a wilderness cabin but other campers might not be as accepting to it. Everything is accurate in their description of the place, even had matches in one of the drawers available to start a campfire if we had a dry day to do one. Overall even tho the weather ruined it we still had a wonderful time exploring and doing what we could while we were there.

Great getaway

Staying at Amnicon allowed my kids to have a taste of camping but still able to sleep in a bed. We used the cabin as a base and did day trips around the north shore. The camp was quiet and clean. We had a great trip.

Nature lover

Cabin was just what we needed- peaceful area - outhouse light from inside cabin was a helpful touch—quick response from staff with questions- outhouse was a bit stinky and wish the fridge was bigger but it was a great stay can’t wait to go back!

I wanted a trip to escape with my kiddos and be in nature!! This was exactly that. We enjoyed every minute and the best part was we were left alone. There was enough dishes for a family of 4. Theres a microwave, small toaster oven (I thought I could make puzza and you have to 4th the pizza to do so), there's a grilling grate, so we brought tin foil for burgers; super good. The trails were a bit muddy but to be expected in spring in WI/MN. We walked a 20 minute walk down to superior and each of the kids got to brush up on their fire starting skills right on the beach with the drift wood. Super fun and enjoyable. We stayed 4 days, 3 nights. Highly recommend uf you want to go off grid a bit. We will be back.

nice rustic cabin

We enjoyed our stay in this rustic cabin. There was plenty of space for all 5 of us and it was clean. The camp is nice and quiet. It's located at the end of a long dirt road, which we did not know, but it worked out.
