Rustic Retreat Cabin for Families/Sm Groups, "Shalom"
This little one-room cabin is ADORABLE! It has everything you need (and nothing you don't) for a quiet getaway to fill your soul. We're located just 30 minutes outside Duluth, MN, but when you're here you'll feel like you're in the middle of nowhere. While you're here you'll have access to our enormous sandy beach on Lake Superior. The beach is a 15-minute walk from the cabin, and is absolutely stunning.
Here are a few things you'll want to know before you book this cabin: - The cabin is clean, comfortable, and elegant, but still quite rustic. The cabin is available year-round, with a propane fireplace for your main source of heat. It has electricity, but no running water. In the kitchenette is a water dispenser for washing & drinking. Adjacent to the cabin is your own private low-odor outhouse that has a little heater and a light you can turn on from inside the cabin. Just a one-minute walk from the cabin is the main lodge, which has public restrooms for showers and flushing toilets. - There is no drive-in access to this cabin. You can unload your vehicle about a one or two-minute walk from the cabin. We offer hand carts and/or utility sleds for bringing luggage to the cabin. After you've unloaded your vehicle, we'll ask you to park your car back in the parking lot along the side of the road. - We want to be as transparent as possible about what the cabin is like. In addition to the photos, we have a short 4-minute video tour that shows the layout and surroundings in more detail. We’re happy to share this video with you after booking or upon request. Just send us a message!

Cozy little cabin. The fridge was dirty and we had to empty the bucket under the sink but those were the only issues. Beautiful area for walking. We loved the beach. Definitely going back next year.
Peaceful and quiet area with the convenience of Duluth being a short drive away. Beautiful site and we were able to spend lots of quality time with our group!
My dog and I stayed here for two nights. The rustic cabin had a very comfortable bed and I had everything that I needed. Located close to the area I wanted to explore. We walked to Lake Superior from the cabin.
Staying at Amnicon allowed my kids to have a taste of camping but still able to sleep in a bed. We used the cabin as a base and did day trips around the north shore. The camp was quiet and clean. We had a great trip.
Cabin was just what we needed- peaceful area - outhouse light from inside cabin was a helpful touch—quick response from staff with questions- outhouse was a bit stinky and wish the fridge was bigger but it was a great stay can’t wait to go back!
We enjoyed our stay in this rustic cabin. There was plenty of space for all 5 of us and it was clean. The camp is nice and quiet. It's located at the end of a long dirt road, which we did not know, but it worked out.
We wanted space close to Duluth and the North Shore but also wanted to rent a cabin. This location gave us all of that along with its own amenities - beach on Lake Superior, some new hiking trails and proximity to Duluth and all of its attractions. Also, very affordable, clean and just as described.
It was a cozy and peaceful stay once we got the heat situation figured out. The contact person was super attentive and took care of what we needed. It was rustic but with nice amenities. Whoever thought to put a heater in the outhouse that you could turn on from inside is genius! It was so nice having the sauna available too. The walking trails were nice. And we appreciate being able to have our dog with us.
Walking paths took us to L. Superior & Amnicon River. Cabin stayed warm. Great shower facility. Wish the sauna was working.
Close drive to Superior.
The stars at night were on top of our head.
Love unlimited fire wood.
Friendly staff & responded yo our needs.
Want to return for a stay!!
Great, affordable stay, able to disconnect while also visiting sites.
This worked perfect for our family and our stay, especially with our hound along for the ride. We’d like to return in the summer months to better be able to explore the trails. The one difficulty was the lack of heater in the cabin necessitating use of space heaters. While the cabin remained warm enough I was under the impression there was more centralized heating. Other than that we had no issues and really enjoyed our stay!

I wanted a trip to escape with my kiddos and be in nature!! This was exactly that. We enjoyed every minute and the best part was we were left alone. There was enough dishes for a family of 4. Theres a microwave, small toaster oven (I thought I could make puzza and you have to 4th the pizza to do so), there's a grilling grate, so we brought tin foil for burgers; super good.
The trails were a bit muddy but to be expected in spring in WI/MN. We walked a 20 minute walk down to superior and each of the kids got to brush up on their fire starting skills right on the beach with the drift wood. Super fun and enjoyable. We stayed 4 days, 3 nights. Highly recommend uf you want to go off grid a bit. We will be back.
We had a great stay! The staff was kind and welcoming. The cottage is cozy and has everything you need for an overnight or three stay. Use of the lodge bathroom was helpful for showers, etc. I loved having the drinking water in the cabin to refill water bottles.
Only minor challenge is there is a bit of a walk to this cabin from the parking area. I'm recovering from heel surgery and I did not see information about the distance in the VRBO listing, but the director said it was listed on their website. Walked slow and watched my steps on the gravel path to the door. There were plenty of lights, including a motion sensor on the path halfway to the cabin, and a light switch inside the cottage to the outhouse heater and light!
The staff has made thoughtful additions to make the stay comfortable. We made it work! We had a great time and were very relaxed during our two night stay.
We recently had the pleasure of staying at the Shalom Cabin at Camp Amnicon, and we can’t recommend it highly enough! From the moment we arrived, we felt a warm welcome from the camp staff and an overwhelming sense of tranquility.
The cabin itself is beautifully situated, surrounded by stunning natural scenery. It was cozy and clean, providing all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. We appreciated the cabin's simplicity, with all the essential amenities that made our stay comfortable.
One of the highlights of our stay was enjoying the outdoor space. The views are breathtaking, and there are plenty of opportunities for hiking and canoeing the Amnicon River, as well as simply soaking in the peaceful atmosphere. It was the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
We also appreciated the no-contact check-in and check-out process, which made our experience even smoother and more relaxing.
Overall, our time at Camp Amnicon was incredibly peaceful and rejuvenating. Whether you're looking for a quiet retreat or a place to connect with nature, Shalom Cabin is an ideal choice. We can’t wait to return for another stay!
Everything went smoothly and the process was very easy to check in and check out. Location was perfect for getting away from the city. We used the cabin as our home-base while we camped in the National Forrest Wilderness nearby, it functioned perfect for what we needed. Very pretty in the winter and we cant wait to come see it in the fall!
Wonderful property - my extended family rented all 6 cabins for a few nights after a wedding. Cabins are clean and comfortable, property is beautiful, staff is super friendly and helpful. We enjoyed campfires every night and paddling on the river and swimming in the lake.
Cabin and property were great. We love staying here and enjoy the nature and the lake! Many opportunities for other activities, depending on what you want to do just a car drive away. The only bad part of this trip was the pot holes on the county road, we just drove around them best we could. We will be back again!
