About this property
Tree Top Views Close to Beaches and Downtown
Greetings!
The property is located less than two miles directly south of downtown South Haven and beautiful South Beach. Within one mile South of the property is secluded Deerlick Creek Beach and the Van Buren State Park is another couple miles south of there. So a quick five-minute car ride or 15-20-minute bike ride will get you to all the wonderful activities South Haven has to offer.
This early 1900s farmstead has long been divided up into large residential lots that now make up the neighborhood. This home is a new addition to the main farm house and I designed it to function as a completely private residence to guests. Also located on the property is the original hay barn and a milkhouse I converted in to a 2 bedroom guesthouse (VRBO #876843).
You will have a private patio and entry to this house that opens to the first floor bedroom / bathroom which is furnished with a quality queen size pillow top mattress, four pillows of medium and firm comfort level and bamboo cotton linens. Nine foot ceilings, ceiling fan, night lights and large closet and dresser. Dimmable table and overhead lighting throughout the home. Large windows facing the Japanese magnolia right outside the windows. Black out cellular shades.
The first floor bathroom features heated tile floors and a large 6’ x 4’ walk in shower with rain showerhead. Plenty of plush cotton bath towels, an assortment of body wash, shampoo, conditioner and body lotions. Blow dryer. Also, a stack washer and dryer with unscented detergent and dryer sheets for your use if needed.
In the hallway closet you will find extra linens, iron and ironing board, lint brush, umbrellas, beach towels, beach blankets, beach umbrellas, 2 beach chairs, 2 collapsable portable chairs, a pop up beach sun shelter tent, suntan lotion, bug spray, beach bag, bike helmets, hard and soft sided cooler, first aid kit, picnic basket and a couple double pronged bonfire roasting forks.
A dual zone mini split heating and air conditioning unit located on each level for complete comfort.
Up the staircase to the top floor is the very spacious living room and kitchen with 11 large windows and a 360° view looking out into the tree tops and overseeing the property and neighborhood in each direction. This large room features a 16’ cathedral ceiling .
A chenille upholstered queen sleeper sofa with memory foam mattress and upholstered armchair. Remote controlled ceiling fan. 43” smart Roku TV . A reliable high speed WiFi modem on the first floor with xfi WiFi pod extenders throughout the home. Board and card games and puzzles. A turntable with a fun selection of albums to play. Type out a letter to loved ones on the antique portable typewriter. Current maps and guidebooks featuring all that the area has to offer. I will be emailing a detailed list of recommendations to local eateries, vineyards, brew pubs, recreational options, farmers markets and shopping with website links before you arrive.
The kitchen has a fridge/freezer, dishwasher and an 8’ island with large sink and area for dining with 2 barstools. You can prepare your meals here using the large French Door Oster convention/baking/toaster/broiling oven or microwave. A double burner infrared glass stove top unit. In the fridge you will find a full range of sandwich and bbq condiments, butter, half and half, almond creamer and several ice cube trays in the freezer. I also stock flavored sparking waters for you to enjoy. There is a drip coffee maker and Keurig with of medium and dark roast and decaf coffee. Assorted black and herbal teas, honey and sweeteners. Coffee grinder, toaster, ninja blender, and plenty of cooking and serving pieces. Olive oil, balsamic and wine vinegar and lots of spices are stocked…please help yourself to anything in the pantry. S’mores fixings!
Biodegradable paper plates and flatware, paper towels, plastic wrap, tinfoil and zip lock bags available.
You will also receive a detailed list of all home and recreational amenities a week before you arrive.
Outside on the spacious patio that wraps around to the side of the house will be a medium size propane grill, patio table and chairs, two lounge chairs and a couple Adirondack chairs to enjoy the evening by the fire pit with the provided firewood, kindling and fire starters.
The 5 mile hike and bike trail that links downtown to the State Park is less than a quarter mile from the driveway. There are several adult bikes available for your use.
My job is to ensure you have a safe, comfortable and enjoyable experience. The house is located 2 miles from Bronson Hospital. Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are placed throughout the home. First aid kit and fire extinguishers. I am available 24/7 if you are in need of any assistance.
Located off Phoenix Street about 3 miles away you will find a Meijers grocery, pharmacy, and home goods store and Walmart and Walgreens. Meijer uses the Shipt app for home grocery delivery service which I will be happy to receive and put in-place for you prior to your check in if necessary.
If you are needing more space for family or friends my other VRBO cottage listing #876843 can accommodate up to 6 individuals.
There is a high chair, pak n play with linens and child gate available for the staircase.
Contact me anytime if you have any questions.
Thanks for looking!
Best, Marc

Can’t say enough good things about our stay here. Marc was such a great and attentive host. The property was beautiful, the house clean and well stocked with everything we needed. Will definitely stay again!
Marc communicated very well prior to our stay. He was very friendly when we arrived. The property is quiet inside and out. Very unique art collection. Very comfortable. We definitely recommend and will be back in the future.

Marc was the best host I've ever had at a rental home. You can tell how much he enjoys hosting guests and making their stay excellent. He had snacks ready for us, he gave us recommendations of where to go and things to do and gave us clear instructions on how to get to the parking space on the property. The property itself was adorable. It's the kind of place you'd like to stay and hang out on a rainy or snowy day.
Check in was great, very kind and helpful with recommendations and any questions with the property. Accommodating with checkin and checkout when able and overall a pleasure. Would vacation here again :)
My wife, son and I had a great time in this VRBO. Marc was so kind and responsive, and his place is very nice and creatively decorated! The grounds are lovely and it’s just outside the city so very convenient. Marc gave us a great tip for a path to a small beach nearby. Highly recommended!!
Marc and Cheryl were excellent hosts. Communication was excellent, the home was very nice, clean and well equipped. The location was perfect, quiet but close to town. Highly recommended and we plan to visit again.
Our first visit to the South Haven area proved to be spectacular. The accommodations were expertly prepared resulting in a wonderful stay. We will make this our "go to" place for future Michigan stays. Thanks Marc!
This was the perfect little place for our girls getaway. Creatively decorated, comfortable, spotlessly clean, and filled with all of the necessities and more. Marc is a fantastic host who seems to have thought of everything his guests may need for a stay in South Haven. The beaches, trails, shops, and restaurants are just a short drive or bike ride away. This house is in a peaceful, and quiet neighborhood and offers plenty of privacy. We can't wait to go back.
Our stay was so nice at Marc's place. Every detail was thought of and the place had everything we needed. Such a relaxing little getaway! Thank you Marc!
Marc is honestly the best host we’ve had! He is attentive to any need, often before we even asked! Location is great, we enjoyed hopping on the van buren trail so close to house Some excellent restaurants and great beaches! Thanks Marc! Tracie and Frank
This home and property are so beautiful and peaceful. It's conveniently located just down the street from beach access and Lake Michigan views, but quietly nestled on a wooded lot away from the hustle and bustle. Marc is a very responsive and helpful host, and a pleasure to meet if you get the chance! He sent a list of recommendations and directions to different sight-seeing spots around town. Made our trip as first-timers to South Haven a breeze. We definitely plan to be back!
We loved our stay here! It was nice and quiet and a short drive to town and the beach. Our host, Marc, thought of everything you might possibly need for a comfortable stay! He also provided a lot of nice extras like muffins, cheese, and fruit. Communication was easy as well. We would definitely stay here again!
Positive reviews were on point. Everything was exceptional. My husband enjoyed the record collection. Close to bike trails, South Haven, parks...enjoyed ourselves.
Our VRBO in South Haven was the perfect spot for a long weekend getaway. Our host Marc was incredibly helpful and offered fantastic recommendations throughout our stay. He was generous and presented us with parting gifts. The house itself was beautifully decorated, warm, inviting, and had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing time. We loved the location and would definitely recommend his property and we will be back!
I seriously cannot say enough good things about our stay. I grew up in the area and knew the area well. I felt like the entire experience from start to finish was just perfect. The property was even better in person and our host Marc was so kind and really went above and beyond. We especially enjoyed the patio area and bikes.
If I ever go back to the area I will definitely stay there again!
Marc is truly one of the best VRBO hosts I have ever met! He is kind and thoughtful and he communicates all the details without having to constantly ask.
The guesthouse is fully stocked with everything you need and more! The bed is super comfy and the shower is FANTASTIC! It was such a great birthday weekend!
Everything was great, Marc communicated everything and gave a ton of recommendations for restaurants etc. We used the bikes to ride into downtown/ beach. The house was clean, well kept and Marc was thoughtful enough to put some birthday candles in muffins he made for my wife’s birthday. Would definitely stay here again.
The hosts of this property are truly the hidden spotlight! They provided us with everything we could have needed. Their recommendations from where to eat to where to go to watch the sunset were on point! The other reviews don't lie, there are muffins and drinks, and a spare of anything you might have forgotten! 100% recommend!
Marc is absolutely delightful, responsive, and helpful. He thought of absolutely everything from fixings for a bonfire, to anything you might need for a day on the beach. He is available to you any time you have questions or would like a recommendation. The home is close to everything you might want or need. It is quaint, cozy, and artistically sublime.
Our stay on this property was amazing! The home is beautifully decorated with an impressive attention to detail (including the personalized welcome sign when we arrived, fresh cheese/fruit/muffins in the kitchen, etc). The outdoor gardens are just as beautiful and a must-see during the summer. This home is a quiet retreat away from the downtown South Haven area which we actually enjoyed very much. Marc (owner) went above and beyond to ensure that we had everything we needed and did his best to allow us to have an early check in. Marc's hospitality is second to none! We are looking forward to our next stay at this property.
This property truly exceeded our expectations. The online photos do not do it justice. Everything about this property was beautiful, from all the little details to the location including the bike trails. You are close to everything but yet the privacy made it relaxing. It was nice not having to bring our own bikes, helmets, beach chairs or beach towels. The communication from booking, prior to arrival and departure was excellent. Marc takes excellent care of his properties and makes you feel very welcome! We will definitely be back!
Plan your days adventures with a morning coffee and beautiful tree views; return and unwind with some tunes in the chill vibes of the second-floor main living space. Just around the corner from the first-floor entry is your very own patio & firepit - at the ready for some starry skied coziness. Filled with quirky curiosities and vintage pieces, this property is a fun find! Secluded yet close enough to reach the downtown area & waterfront by bike or hike via nearby trail - this was certainly an ideal location for us. The hosts were gracious, accommodating and extremely welcoming - offered everything we could possibly need and more. Those thoughtful touches did not go unnoticed and appreciated. We truly enjoyed our stay!
