The Margi

The Margi

10/10 Excellent
"The Margi Hotel is in prime location close to Astir Beach and the marina. The hotel is clean and well maintained albeit the double room is on the smaller side. Apparently we got an upgrade to a double room. Interestingly that is exactly what I booked so unclear where the upgrade was. Breakfast was great for boutique hotel, definitely get the orange juice and the margi farm grown tomatoes and eggplants. When we arrived, we were instantly greeted and assisted by the doormen who consistently greets us each time we see them. They definitely made us feel welcomed. Our luggages were quickly and efficiently delivered to our room within minutes of our arrival Front desk staff were somewhat stand off ish. Thought it’s their job to make guests feel welcomed? Hmmm. Not a deal breaker at all just comparing to our other stays on the trip at lesser hotels Ultimately, we enjoyed our stay there for its location and planned our days around the area. So would definitely return one day"

The best time to visit Sounio is during the shoulder seasons of April to early June and September to October. These months offer pleasant weather, ideal for exploring the area's historical sites and enjoying its natural beauty without the intense heat or crowds of mid-summer.

During these periods, the temperatures are comfortably warm, typically ranging from 20 to 28 degrees Celsius, and there's less chance of rain compared to the winter months. This makes it great for outdoor activities like visiting the Temple of Poseidon, hiking along the coastline, or simply relaxing on one of the nearby beaches. You'll find the archaeological sites are less crowded, allowing for a more relaxed and thoughtful experience.

For those planning a romantic getaway, the shoulder seasons provide a more tranquil setting. The sunsets over the Aegean Sea from the Temple of Poseidon are particularly stunning at this time of year, and many of the local tavernas are open but not overly busy, offering a more intimate dining experience.

If you're interested in water sports or prefer very warm weather for swimming, July and August are also an option, though you should expect higher temperatures, more visitors, and potentially higher prices for accommodation and flights.
