About this property
Drumgarry - Skye house with breathtaking sea views.
Drumgarry is set within a private, secluded woodland. The house commands breathtaking views across the sea towards the Knoydart hills and mountains beyond. The stunning location is complimented by the beautiful, natural gardens surrounding the house.
The house is spacious, sleeping up to 6 people. With master, superking bedroom, bunk room and a 3rd bedroom which can be used flexibly as either 2 singles or as an additional superking. The huge kitchen/ dining room is very well equipped and looks out across the garden to the rear. The living room features large french windows opening onto a large deck and seating area, perfectly positioned to take in the gorgeous scenery and views. The house also has 2 bathrooms, one with shower, one with bath and shower.
Drumgarry is in the small township of Ardvasar on the southern tip of the island. There is a pub and restaurant within the hotel which sits at the foot of the house's drive, just 1 minutes walk away and serving excellent food; there are also many other excellent restaurants in the area. There is a local shop 5 mins drive away (but it's also a beautiful 15 minute walk), and there's a large supermarket in the next main town of Broadford.
Being located on Skye, there is access to the many places of interest there such as the Cuillin mountains, fairy pools, dinosaur fossils, clan castles and distilleries, not to mention the Old Man of Storr, black and white coral beaches and the quiraing. Tours for dolphin and whale watching and other water-based activities can also be booked nearby. The house itself is within walking distance of the ferry terminal which links with Mallaig on the mainland, the town where the Harry Potter train terminates. This also allows for access to mainland destinations such as Camusdarach beach and the Silver Sands of Morar. Ferry routes to the various, beautiful, nearby islands and beyond also depart from Mallaig.
For guest safety and property security, there is a doorbell camera at the front door. It monitors the entrance and part of the parking area only. Audio recording is disabled. It only activate on movement. Video is only kept if required by the police. Please ask if you wish this disabled during your stay.

We had a perfect couple of days here. it has everything you might need. The place is really cozy and the view is awesome. 10/10, will come back some day
This property is a large house with Three bedrooms loads of space to move around if 6 people where to stay there.Amazing views and very peaceful. Will definitely be staying again agagain.
The view, the yard, and the home interior were all gorgeous. It felt very much like a home, and we settled right in. The coal heating was a bit of an adjustment but my middle son.and I had fun figuring it out with the provided videos. Would absolutely stay again.
Everything was brilliant. The location of the house with the great view. The rooms are lovely, the kitchen and the living room very cosy. Our stay there was definitely too short and we hope to return one day.
Home is a bit off the beaten path but wonderful accommodations and location. Very roomy with large kitchen and front sitting room. Views of the Atlantic were as promised and there were flowers everywhere. There is a wonderful local pub and hotel restaurant only a very short stroll away
We had a great time! It's quite a drive from most of the main/touristy spots on Isle of Skye, but its a beautiful drive. We were also a little intimidated by the coal fire heating system, but it actually made it a very cozy experience. Kyle was very communicative and helpful.
We enjoyed our stay in Drumgarry a lot. The terrace and the living room windows provide a great sea view. The beds are very comfortable. Everything was clean and in good shape. Good to also spend a rainy day in house - though I have heard that this rarely happens on Skye ;-) .
This house has ample space for a family or group of 6. Full sized kitchen and laundry room are a plus for a group. Both baths are separated from the bedrooms, only one shower and one tub. Heating and hot water are a challenge to operate
We stayed at Drumgarry for a week in early April and could not have picked a better week weather wise. We are a family of 3 plus one small dog, and had a fantastic time. The house is large with plenty of space and has amazing views from the Livingroom/decking at the front of the property. The house is located in a very quiet and peaceful area with the added bonus of a lovely Inn at the foot of the drive that serves food throughout the day. Communication with Kyle was excellent throughout and would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to visit the Isle of Skye
This house was incredible! The views were spectacular and the master bedroom and space in general was luxurious and welcoming. The coal heat system that everyone mentions in their reviews is not as scary as you might think. Kyle gives you video instructions on how to do it and sets everything up for your first go at lighting the coals. If you aren’t used to starting fires or fireplaces in general it can be stressful but the house is meant to be heated through this system so as long as you watch and read the instructions you’re golden! The kitchen is also a dream and the shower had delightfully hot water. Cannot recommend enough!
Stayed for just 2 nights in October Half term. Party of 6 (Inc two young teen children) and two small dogs.
We had a lovely stay. Plenty of space for everyone, beds very comfortable with warm duvets. The kitchen had everything we needed to make home cooked meals and if you don’t feel like cooking the Inn at the bottom of the drive has a great menu.
Washing machine was very handy, we were midway through our holiday so great to get a few items cleaned to wear again.
We did use the coal fire located in the living room and the room warmed up nicely once we got it going. It was warm enough that the clothes dried overnight on the airer. :)
It’s a perfect location if you are getting the ferry to or from Skye. Communication with Kyle was excellent beginning to end too.
We would stay here again and would recommend to friends and family thinking of visiting the island!
Thanks for having us.
Our arrival was delayed because of our flights. Got to the cottage @ 130am. After driving back& forth several times & no clue how to find places using latitudes, & a couple messages sent to Kyle ,we pulled to side of road & slept in our rental. Woke to birds @ 5 am. Drove around the area looking for a toilet. Sat in a petrol station till it opened. Saw a reply with precise directions from Kyle. And found the house. Took a bit to find the correct lock box & entrance key. But we got in & unloaded. The views are fantastic. Exterior needs some cleaning of cobwebs & such. Maybe make the carport usable for unloading a car in the rain. The flora around the house is just beautiful. Ferns, strawberries, crainsbill & so many others just tumbling & flowing thru the trees & shrubs. The morning we left, the rains/ wind the night before had knocked a small tree across the lane. As i walk w a cane, my sister had to walk down the hill to the restaurant and ask for a saw. But a wonderful man walked back up with her & pulled it out of the way so we could leave. So other than some exterior cleaning & landscape clean up the house is lovely. Though the beds were not comfortable. Thank you to Kyle for sending us directions. Skye is simply Unbelievable!
The place was absolutely incredible with beautiful views of the sea. Everything in the house was perfectly thought out and made our stay comfortable. It's also located conveniently to dining and grocery stores.
We had a superb stay at Drumgarry at Easter. House is so comfortable and cosy and we are hoping to return next year. Great location for walking and ideal for an evening stroll to the nearby pub. Kyle was great at answering any questions we had prior to our stay.
Wow! What an awesome house with all the amenities. Kyle was a perfect host with great recommendations. We had a wonderful time exploring Skye from the home base of Drumgarry. Views from the house are breathtaking! Was sad to leave & hope to return. Highly recommend!
Nice place. Spacious. Host was great. Lock is tricky on front door and we couldn’t get the dryer to dry clothes but it had a nice laundry room. Plenty of seating areas too.
My husband and I stayed 3 nights and we absolutely loved the place. It was spacious, had wonderful amenities and it was a great base to see the sights of Isle of Skye. And if it's a clear night (somewhat rare), be sure and go outside and do some star gazing because the sky was spectacular!
Kyle communicated with us right from the start and was super accommodating. Next time we're out this way, we'll stay here again, only longer.
The house itself suited our needs perfectly and we enjoyed our stay. The grounds, front and back are a letdown though, and nothing like the pictures. It really needs a good bit of attention to get it up to the standard of letting out.
Very well prepared, well equipped, and comfortable. No trouble at all using the stove. Kept the home warm all day and night. Shower was lovely and we even did a load of wash.
Will definitely return!
This home was absolutely lovely! Comfortable for both a couple or a family. I read previous reviews regarding the coal fire. While it was a bit chilly upon arrival, if you understand how to get a fire going, it provides much better warmth than traditional heating. Once my husband got the fire going, it stayed very warm throughout the entire stay. Stove is quite larger than a traditional British stove which should make Americans like me (who have a 48" cooktop) quite happy. Appliances were easy to use.
