"This is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in. I've stayed in a lot of hotels that cost a lot more, but were nowhere near as nice as the Grand. It is just a five-minute walk from the rail station, which was very convenient. The York city wall is literally across the street and gave wonderful views of the skyline. Easy walk into the city centre. The room was large and comfortable. The bathroom was divine - very large, beautiful marble, instant hot water. My husband and I said repeatedly that we could live there."

"Staff are exceptional; friendly, helpful and polite. The rooms are warm and comfy and the food isl very tasty. We come at least once every year and hope to do so for many years to come."

"Lovely room, clean and comfortable. The staff were really friendly and helpful. I ate breakfast and evening meal in the hotel, and used the hotel bar, all of which was excellent. The best location for seeing the city in my opinion. My only 'negative' comment is that, in my room, the windows overlooked the park opposite and, because off single pane sash windows which didn't close fully, with only secondary glazing over these, it was quite noisy at night as those enjoying the night life returned to hail a taxi opposite the hotel. Other rooms could well be different and a lot don't overlook the park. "

"This is our 5th stay at the hotel. As always, we were met with very friendly and pleasant staff on arrival and departure. There was a slight issue with heating in the room but we were immediately supplied with a supplementary heater."

"We lived that it was easy to find, central and modern. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The hotel was modern and breakfast was wholesome. We didn’t like paying the £16 parking but the river walks were special"
