Wolf Crossing - Cabin

Wolf Crossing is a small 1 bedroom cabin in Silver Gate approximately 3000' from the Northeast Entrance to Yellowstone and approximately 3 miles from Cooke City on Highway 212 (National Park Road and the Beartooth Highway). A basic cabin old cabin with a wolf theme. It has a bath with a shower, a queen -size bed, a small refrigerator, a microwave, a toaster oven and a coffee maker. There is small front porch. WE HAVE JUST ADDED SATELLITE TELEVISION WITH 150 CHANNELS AS WELL AS WIRELESS INTERNET FOR YOUR LAPTOP via Starlink.

There is a general store in town within walking distance as well as the Log Cabin Restaurant and the Sun Dog store. A mountaineering store is also within walking distance. Soda Butte Creek is located across the road approximately 600' away. In addition to Yellowstone National Park, we are surrounded by the Absaroka Wilderness as well as the Gallatin National Forest. Great hunting, fishing, hiking, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, kayaking and wildlife viewing abounds. This small cabin makes a quiet and unique base-camp for a world of outdoor activities. Please note that it is an old hand built cabin. We have pine martens and foxes around constantly eating mice. I blame their laxness if any should appear.

Rustic Bliss
Immaculate old log cabin, not big enough for a family but two fit very comfortably. Cozy, warm and private. Well stocked and appointed with microwave, coffee pot, tv, heater, flush toilet, shower, refrigerator and wifi. We loved our stay here and the attendant explained the cabin was over 100 years old.

Good little cabin so close to north east entrance to Yellowstone
This is as advertised a rustic cabin close to the entrance to Yellowstone. Good bed and all you need. Our only deal is how close to the road it is, just a few feet. So our idea of chilling on the porch, which we did, was not what we expected. A stack of tires hampered the environment too. So good place, too close to noisy highway for us and a little effort on the surroundings would make it a much better stay.

Perfect!
Perfect little cabin for 1-2 people wanting to get away and relax. It is a little close to the road for my liking but its not too bad. Close to town and lots of beautiful scenery and hiking trails. The property manager John was very helpful and kind, going above and beyond to make your stay great. The locals are friendly. The Log Cabin Cafe food tastes great but its a coin toss as to whether they'll be open or not. Cooke city is only 3mi. away with a lot more modern conveniences, but I wasn't interested in that, lol. Ask around for Henry, he can tell you a lot about the area too. There's so much beauty to take pictures of and fresh air, and cute little squirrels and chipmunks too. So if you dont get a chance to spot any of the big animals there's still that. 😊 Over all, as far as I was concerned, it was perfect.

Cozy Cabin
We were very happy with the cozy little cabin. It’s tucked away but with amenities nearby. The Yellowstone entrance is just a stone’s throw away. This cabin is for people looking to unplug and enjoy the beauty that nature has to offer! Thank you for a most pleasant stay and experience.

Celebrating our 50th Anniversary at Yellowstone!
Overall, we were pleased. It met our needs and is a little bigger and better appointed than the pics of the inside of the cabin shows. There is a table and 2 chairs, a hanging hutch with dishes, and a repurposed desk to use as a food preparation station. There are coat pegs, wide window ledges, and shelves atop the bed posts that provide storage. We brought 2 TV trays and hanging shoe storage bag that were helpful. The TV trays made a luggage stand and a place to use the electric skillet we brought. (I'm glad I did because although a toaster oven was listed in the amenities, there isn't one. Also, TV useless.) The place is clean, the bed was comfortable, and it was quiet. Careful - Hot water in the shower can be a geyser. Check-in was nightmare. The email we received before traveling from VRBO said they did not have any instructions, to contact the property manager. We did not make a screen shot of the property info, so were lost upon arrival. No cell service or internet!! Laurie at SG Motel saved us by sharing WiFi. Found info, but Prop Mngr wouldn't answer. Went to address but did not look like pics enough to risk trying the door. Back to SG Motel, finally resolved with VRBO and the owner. (Owner was very nice.) But it took 2 hours. Cabin is beside a shabby shed, near other cabins, and has a table on the porch and name plaque near the door. We bear some blame for not trying the door (which was unlocked). The outside area of the cabin was unappealing.

Perfect location!
This little cabin was in an ideal location for visiting Yellowstone and seeing lots of wildlife. If you plan to have meals, keep them very simple as there is only a microwave for cooking, and the stores nearby have limited stock and are very expensive. If you just need a place to sleep it is a wonderful and less expensive alternative to staying at the park lodges or hotels at the busier locations (west and north gates).

Our favorite cabin
Clean, cozy. Comfortable cabin, perfect for sleeping after a busy day in YNP. Surrounfed by tall pines, joyful birds, close to town for ice cream and beer.
