On three occasions during our 7 day stay, only 1 towel was left by housekeepers for the two of us. This was brought to their attention after the first time. Restaurant staff were not very attentive. Twice we had to ask for breakfast menus. Staff seem to be staring into space a lot.

TO BE IMPROVED
In general, it seems to be good. One thing,I have to mention is the transportation bet. Sihanoukville and the beach. The boat was so small and not comfortable. And the hotel location was good and surrounding environment seems to be good but the management was much to be improved. Esp. restaurant service and food was not good enough.

what can i say an island paradise, excellent staff, excellent rooms, clean well laid out a little bit rustic, but has all u need, good food, a little bit pricey as in american dollars but there is a near-by village thats cheaper if u wanted cheaper, the accom there looked a bit to rustic for my liking. activities were a little sparse as we r not water lovers water, i would have liked some quad bike to explore on not scooters.but apart from that an island paradise loved it

Absolutely stunning beach, purest white sand with beautiful blue sea. Accommodation is good, although a little dated. Food is very good although very expensive which is quite frustrating because prices are inflated 3x as much as normal. Also paying for the speed boat to the island is totally uncalled for especially as your paying so much for food and drink once you arrive, the hotel should think about stop charging for this, it’s a little bit greedy to expect customers to pay $40 per couple per journey. All in all a great hotel and stay, just more expensive than it needs to be.

Best beach, best room
We stayed in the Chalet, Sea View room, which is a freestanding little building right on the beach, overlooking the water. It was incredible. We sat on our balcony watching the ocean all day. 20 Steps and you're in the water! The resort is very charming, the staff friendly, the breakfast hearty and the Khmer food in the restaurant very delicious. Happy hour is great! They do their best to keep the beach clean, although when we visited in May it was still off-season, with the ocean dumping an incredible amount of trash on the beach each day. I can't fault the resort itself, it's of a high standard while it still has that independent charm (it's not a chain hotel). We rode around the island on a scooter one day and I must say that the beach at Sok San is the most beautiful. The little town nearby is quaint (although not pristinely clean). I could have stayed for another week!

A perfect break to nature and hot seas
I don't understand the negative reviews and comments that some have left. This place has the most incredible seeing on the island, and the staff are attentive and welcoming. If you put a little effort into making some of your own plans, there are some incredible experienced on offer all around the island. Prices aren't always cheap but the experiences justify posting regular western rates. One note worth mentioning though- government corruption is taking its toll on the island, and stunning hardwood rainforest jungle is being cut and burned in secret right now. I've witnessed first hand the disappearance of 25% of the island's jungle in the past month. I encourage a trip to Koh Rong before the magic is gone.

Amazing spot overpriced hotel
Absolutely amazing beach and location - and I've seen my fair share of beaches and locations. Now to the hotel – firstly, our garden view room was the only place in Cambodia we couldn't get wifi, I got better wifi in a rice field. Hopeless. Secondly, the bed was so hard that we slept on our inflatable lilos We had heard this bed issue mentioned in previous reviews why has the hotel not resolved this hard mattress madness? Thirdly, slow staff, but this is standard across Cambodia so didn’t bother us. Finally, the best dining and drinks is 100% in the village just down the beach, follow the lights, check out The Moon Restaurant, try the Fish Amok and Pad Thai, & frozen cocktails some of the best food & drinks we've ever had. Now a tip, Sok San is a bit isolated party wise, but it's easy to get a motorbike to give you a lift in to Koh Toch for about $5 - $10 US ask them to drive slow though, we saw an accident and saved some local guy's life (true story) #heroes. P.S Check out Koh Rong Samloem - Saracen Bay, it's awesome. P.P.S We left our two lilos there, feel free to use them as mattresses and to frolic in the ocean.

Nice stay at Sok San beach resort.
The property is very well located on Sok San beach and its probably the best hotel in Koh Rong at this moment. They have their own private jetty in sihanoukville from where their speedboat brings you straight to the hotel reception. Its a very high price of $40 per person both ways. The property itself is quite nice but not luxury. 4 star at best. We stayed in the deluxe loft. Very spacious rooms. Service is average. Dont expect very good wifi.

San Sok Beach Resort is one of the most picturesque locations I have ever visited. Beautiful white, sandy beach and turquoise water. The staff are friendly and the place is well maintained. Having said that though, the standard rooms are very small and there is not much room around the comfortable bed. WiFi was also quite slow compared to other Cambodian locations we have visited. If you stay at the resort, I would recommend that you drink and eat in Sok San village, as it is much cheaper than the resort. Beers at the resort are $3.50 and you can get one in the village for $1.00 or $1.50. And, it is only a couple hundred meters away! Overall, a fantastic place to stay.

Breakfast wa good mainly western food with good coffee n small selection of juices, overall the food at hotel was a little more expensive than I was expecting so we ate in the local village mostly. Has potential.
We stayed at this resort during the slow season. The cost of transfer from Airport to island was steep with car at 35 USD per trip and boat at 20 USD (one way) per person. The boat used was not the one from website. The real discontent began when the hotel began cutting costs. Breakfast on the second day was limited to an a la carte choice without notice with staff trying to refuse combinations such as pancakes with eggs. Lunch and dinner menu was the same and despite being on a private island, these prices were too high for the small portions given. The bartenders needed a lot of guidance making cocktails and fruit juices were not fresh as advertised. When asked about the nearby village, the staff said everything was closed. We later found out it was because they didn't want us eating there as they would lose business. The food in the village at The Moon restaurant was amazing and affordable! I have a sensitive stomach and never got sick. A meal ranged from 4 - 8 dollars max and would include choice of meat or seafood with true Khmer flavor. It also had the White Bar run by a rather weird but sweet Swedish guy We were prepared to deal with mosquitoes, not the flies during meals and the ants in the room. The beach beyond the hotel front was heavily littered. Despite this, the rooms were clean and most staff were very sweet (like Danny and Mouk.) We would return in the peak season to do activities we couldn't due to rain. The resort is good but there's room for improvement.

Beautiful location and comfortable room
With the price, you’re definitely paying for the location, but that isn’t a bad thing - we had an incredible time and wouldn’t hesitate in recommending the resort. It is a bit rough around the edges, but the experience was wonderful. PROS: beachside location, near Sok San village, comfortable rooms free of wildlife which other bungalows complain about, buffet breakfast, activities, great bar and restaurant CONS: room smelt a little like mildew, for the price you’d expect better quality facilities but if you can get past that it’s totally worth it

amazing beach but extremely dirty
the beach is really beautiful but the rubbish all around the beach and floating on the water doesnt make any pleasant the stay at the island. We saw hotel tries to clean only their beach part after our second day of stay, but still basically you cant go out of the front of the hotel because you are literally in a trash beach and nobody collects that. The hotel rooms are ok but ours had a terrible smell as soon as you open the door, some towels and bed clothes had alot of stains and menu is the same for lunch and dinner so no option to choose if your stay is more than 2 days. Staff is very friendly! if you are a person that only like to stay in hotel and not walk around this is your place.

Stunning bay
Beautiful white sand beach in a secluded bay with fantastic view. We started in a delux double room (small but clean bathroom and ac), decided to upgrade to a chalet, much more space and wrap around balcony. Staff were fantastic. Food and drink range was good, if a little pricey but expected given the location - there is a shop if you walk along the beach into the village nearby. Transfer cost was also high but ran very smoothly. Recommend the activities, the plankton trip in particular was an amazing experience, snorkelling was also enjoyable although the coral isn’t in great condition, kayaking is worth the view at the end of the estuary. Would love to go back!

Great Hospitality and Relaxation
Arriving there on a speed boat (Interesting experience across the Gulf of Thailand) quite rough waters, but to be honest this also added to my experience of getting to the hidden island, the journey early morning was very smooth. Upon arriving to the island was greeted with welcome drink and many smiling faces, staff very polite and friendly (adding to the experience) Then was sat down and explained eveything that was possible to do on the Island by the very well spoken (excellent english) Amica, pity I was too tired to take most of it in. The meals were great, so for dinner had a selection of western dishes, however you really are missing out if you choose these over the Khymer local menu, absolutely superbly cooked, the breakfast was a selection was three types English, American and Local all of which tasted good, I believe this will only improve in selection further since the new F & B manager (Australia) took over and has many new idea`s. Apart from the water sports (learning to scuba diving, Kayaking and hotel services, not a lot else to do on the island, but hey in this environment you don`t need just relax and enjoy. For the adventurous (and dare devillers) can hire a mountain bike and go exploring (Just be careful of the jungle if it rains, you`ll get eaten alive literally (Speaking from experience)

Perfect piece of Heaven
This resort has everything. Perfect location, gorgeous accommodation, plenty of activities, and it has the one thing that you just cant get everywhere and that is the most beautiful staff I have ever known. I stayed here on my own for 5 nights after having a motor bike accident on Koh Rong just hours before arriving. The staff greeted me with such care and support. They immediately gave me a free upgrade to a larger room close to reception and security for convenience and piece of mind. They helped me everyday with basic tasks. One of the most amazing and unforgettable help was provided by their nurse Afini, who visited me each day to attend to my injury. I was given the best care and much needed support throughout my stay. This resort has managed the perfect combination of enough luxury with a natural feel. This is place to stay, Get a little further from the craziness at Koh Rong with all the beauty and activities on offer. The food is great, and very affordable. I would recommend this to people travelling alone, a romantic stay for couples and a great set up for families. If I could give 10 stars I would. Look no further, this is the perfect island holiday in the most picturesque part of Cambodia.

One step too far from the beaten track
Sok San Beach resort seems to be at the end of the World when you are trying to get to it. Situated on the largest and furthest of the Koh Rong Archipelago the resort is truly isolated from any other resort and if you cannot find the resort boat at the jetty in Sihanoukville, like we and a number of the other guests could not, then you will be dropped a long way away from your final destination and you will have to walk carrying your own bags to the resort. Seven Kilometre Beach is truly amazing with some of the whitest fine sand that I have seen anywhere but in Monsoon season the waves make the sea a little daunting for children but I am told out of Monsoon then this is not the case. Cleanliness at the resort is first class with the beach being swept every morning but once you stray away from the resorts little slice of heaven then the beach is littered with discarded water bottles et al. Once you are the hotel you are a captive to them and don't get fooled by the low cost for the room everything else is extra including getting to and from the darn place. A twenty minute taxi ride cost us USD60 for three adults. Food in the restaurant is good (except for the lazy man biscuit based pizza's) but you will end up paying USD8 for a plate of fried rice or Pad Thai which for Cambodia is a shed load of money. Any trips will cost you between USD10-USD30 per adult. This means the cost of our stay ended up being over USD280 per night which of course is no longer a cheap holiday.

poorly organized but beautiful beach
The beach and water was lovely however the hotel staff were not helpful at all and were very poor at organizing activities, as well as this snorkeling was advertised for anytime however this was not true and they could not take us snorkeling. The port that they do the boat transfer from is a long way out of town ($25 taxi) and is very poor and polluted. There is a wharf 100m down the beach from Sok San that do boat transfers from serendipity beach port for $15 (much better option , however you will have to carry luggage about 100m across the beach) Our room was filled with insects and beach towels were not always available. As soon as you leave the resort there is a lot of pollution. Be prepared to spend money on overpriced food and bring snacks/drinks as there is nothing else around (there is another restaurant about 200-300m down the beach). Regardless the white sand and beautiful warm water was great. I would recommend having plenty of money to spend and booking your activity asap to make the experience worthwhile.

Seriously fantastic getaway. Beautiful beach out front and the resort was lovely. I of course wish they'd pick up the trash all over the beach in general (the beach past the resort) but we still enjoyed our walk down past the resort. Sok San Beach Resort - Concrete Quality
Sok San Beach Resort is without a doubt the second "best place" as premium hotel on Koh Rong, the first one being Song Saa, for celebrities & billionaires (read "not me") The staff is especially very attentive and friendly, wich makes a big difference compared to the other place I stayed on Koh Rong (I visited almost all the bungalows on Koh Toch, you always feel like you are annoying the staff when you go to them, and trust me I am friendly, polite and smiling. It deserves it's difference of price, but if you don't want to spend money, don't go there (eveything is more expensive, almost two times the price for meals and drinks, but quality of the service and the presentation is concrete, + the snacks are crazy good. I came back to France today, thank you Sok San Team. Maxime

Nice resort right in a quite part of the Island
I came here with my boyfriend and parents for a vacation. The resort is on a quiet part of the island (there is a speed boat that goes here direct) where the beaches are clean and secluded which was great. The rooms are quite small and tight and basic (unless you pay for the top 2 most expensive rooms) However given that Cambodia is a third world country they are in good condition. The staff are very accommodating and attentive. On our second last night there were a group of people that came and made loud noise very late into the night. However the second we complained it was fixed and for our last night they upgraded us to the premium suite as an apology gesture. We were not expecting that at all, so as you can tell they really care about their guests. The activities they offer are on the expensive side (for Cambodia prices but are not outrageous for Western standards). Overall it was an enjoyable experience just make sure you're up early to reserve a lounge chair with umbrella as these are reserved quite early!!

Very nice resort. Rooms are not the best I've seen, quite small actually and our room didn't have any furniture on the terrace... Besides that, super clean and cozy. Great breakfast and service at the restaurant. If you walk left at the beach, you will find an amazing empty beach. The resort is nice. The room was a bit small, but was clean and comfortable. There is no TV in the room and the bed takes up most of the room. The bathroom was very nice. The beach is nice especially if you go for a walk and find your own sliver. There is also a cool bar called Coconut BLVD further down the beach. A great restaurant to visit is Eat, Pray, Love. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The resort and beach were very well looked after. There was only one other set of bungalows and a small village on the whole 7km long beach so it nearly felt like you had the place to yourself. The resort is great. The beach is very clean and the hotel staff always tries to take care of you. Just once you walk away from the resort area you soon will find tons of garbage at the other beaches or the village nearby. Another small downside was that they only have one restaurant with a very limited selection of local and Western food. And it's questionable whether the food in the village is clean or not. (saw a small girl smashing a shell with a rock in front of a restaurant)

Very good hotel. On the beach.
We were on a holiday and not expecting anything great from the stay. But this hotel was way beyond our expectations. Right from the pickup to the drop was well done. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Very safe place. Very quite and peaceful. The only drawback is the food. It gets monotonous after the first day. Dinner has the same type of menu and there is no other place nearby in the night. It doesn't look too safe to travel at night times. The bar is excellent with wide variety of drinks. The activities offered are also worth it. I also recommend the khamer massage. This place is definitely recommended.
