This beautiful home was a great choice for our New Year getaway. Home was clean and as-described. Hot tub and sauna were great and easy to use. The location is quiet and fairly isolated, but close enough to make a run into town without having to block out half your day.
This was our second stay at The Hummingbird Retreat and once again it did not disappoint! We stayed for 4 days and celebrated our family Thanksgiving. Every aspect of the Retreat is set up to be relaxing and for creating memorable moments. We loved every moment!
Kevin's property provides a perfect getaway if one is looking for pure, blissful solitude and serenity. His home and grounds are lovingly tended to and maintained; one finds many delightful and practical attention to details all around oneself! Thank you for opening your home to my family and me. We're already looking forward to staying another time: D
The trip was our annual mom/daughter trip. The stay was very relaxing. The hot tub, sauna, and outdoor shower were perfect. The beach along lake Michigan was just breathtaking.
We loved this charming retreat home for our family get-together. Lots of special areas to gather, great amenities and fabulous location made it one of our best stays. Would absolutely return and recommend for anyone.
The Hummingbird Retreat was everything it promised and more! The moment we stepped onto the property all of our cares melted away. We fully enjoyed every moment of chilling in the beautiful kitchen/dining/living area. And topped off every evening in the sauna and hot tub. We are planning our next vacation to the Hummingbird Retreat now. We cannot wait to return.
We loved our time at the Hummingbird Retreat. It was great to be able to come back from our day's adventures and relax in the amazing backyard. We loved being able to relax in the hottub and sauna. The kitchen had all the things we needed.
This property is simply amazing. Made leaving home easy with all the added supplies they provide! Our kids kept busy with all the games, fire hot tub and local trails. Simple amazing!! Cheers to wonderful host!
Enjoyed the fire pit, the lanai and the hot tub. A comfortable and cozy spot near Lake Michigan. House well designed, kitchen well equipped (especially with coffee!).
Kevin has an absolutely incredible retreat! Everything was just perfect for our celebration of our anniversary. Kevin is a delightful person, welcoming us and explaining his property and local places. Thank you Kevin for a delightful hideaway for us to enjoy.
Awesome memories made. Everything you might possibly need is furnished. Sauna, hotub, outdoor shower and screen house are great amenities! Can easily walk and bike to trails and beach. The Hummingbird is great!
We love staying at this property! We love being able to relax at the end of the day of adventures in the backyard. Inside has enough space for our group to relax if the weather is bad. The host is responsive to questions and issues.
Great place to relax for a few days! We enjoyed our stay.

We really liked the house. Kevin was very nice. He greeted us when we arrived but made sure we were given plenty of privacy. The sauna and hot tub work great! The house was clean and everything was in working order. Plenty of hiking and biking directly from the house. Point Beach State Forest is very close. Quick drive or decent hiking to the beach. Two Rivers and Manitowoc are a short drive for shopping and restaurants. I would highly recommend staying at the house. Very relaxing and great fun.
I brought my 4 daughters for a long weekend and it was perfect. The deck, hot tub, and screened porch were definitely our favorite! All the little creative touches were inspiring. And we loved the beautiful walk to the beach. Just a lovely property all around!

You'll love this house!
Really nice layout, decor, new appliances, great kitchen and bathroom. Awesome exterior, including fountains, a patio strung with party lights, an outdoor shower, inviting fire pit, and more. We've rented a few houses along this road, this one is the best!
This rental was a wonderful place for a retreat with family. We enjoyed everything including the interior and the beautiful backyard, not to mention a screened separate building that allowed us to enjoy eating, playing games, and even doing crafts with our grandchildren. Kevin, the owner, is a very gracious host. He took care of our needs and he provided an oasis type of backyard for relaxation. The home and yard are exactly as seen in the photos. And…as past VRBO renters…this was the first home we had rented that was incredibly stocked with coffee bar coffees, kitchen items, and other necessities for the bathroom. We highly recommend this VRBO rental!

No lake access or privacy, owner is rude and unprofessional.
We booked the property in November for our wedding in June. The "lake access" was the selling point, and the owner, Kevin, said we can use the access road (1/4 mile away) to get to the beach for the ceremony. A couple months later when I asked about the road, he said that in order to use it, we have to book cabins through the state park.
When we arrived Thursday, June 5th, Kevin's girlfriend was there because he was out of the state. She said she'd stop by to water the plants, but we'd "never know" she was there. The next day she stopped by and asked for a large sum of money for a deposit. My parents were uncomfortable giving it to her without having anything in writing from Kevin, so she left. Later that day, two random men walked around and asked our friends and family questions about the wedding for about 30 minutes (turns out they were friends of Kevin's). Then the next door neighbor came over and asked questions for another half hour, and was obviously upset because "Kevin never said anything about a party". On our wedding day, the girlfriend was wandering around asking guests more questions and even told a couple of them that we have to pay a deposit otherwise there's another family that's going to check-in. When I found her, she told me to check my email and respond to Kevin. I told her that this was not the time or place to discuss details, and we had already held up our end of the deal. After arguing for 15 minutes, my dad came and talked her into leaving so we could all concentrate on the wedding. When I checked my email the next day, there was a message (sent the day of the wedding) from Kevin asking for more money, or he would call the police and have us removed from the property. He said that he had no idea we were having a wedding (even though I have emails from him asking if we need a DJ, florist, caterer, musician, etc.), and that we were "trespassing" by having more than 7 people on the property. When we requested a walk-through on Monday, the girlfriend tried to say we owed for random things (excessive garbage, a dent in the door handle, not washing the towels), but after she talked to Kevin she said we had in fact left everything in the proper condition. All I can say is they need to hire a property manager that knows what they're doing before they ruin anyone else's special occasion. In order to get this review posted, I must also state that the interior of the house was clean and bird-themed. The property looks just like the photos.
We enjoyed our stay, the property is truly a unique, peaceful and beautiful retreat. Very nice kitchen with everything you need to cook. Excellent access to hiking and the beach.
