Good short term stay hotel, near Pudong Airport
I've lost count of how many times I have stayed at Royal International - perhaps 10 times? Unsure. However, since I think of myself as a regular customer, my views are based on the fact that I know the place and area well, so its good for me. The hotel has all the usual international facilities, great clean rooms, etc. etc., one thing to keep in mind is that it is in the Chuansha district of Shanghai. The area is still being developed, so it feels a bit isolated from the real buzzing Shanghai. Shanghai Metro's Chuansha station on Line 2 is fairly close and can be walked to in about 15 minutes, but I recommend getting a taxi. If you're going east (towards PuDong Airport), its not so far (but if you're going to the airport, you might want to just get a taxi or pre-book the airport bus with the hotel). If you're going west, into Shanghai (e.g. Lujiazui, People's Square, Xujiahui etc.), it will take a while.
Back to the hotel itself. Everything is fabulous. Staff are great. The place is comfortable. The only little thing I felt this time around was the room service menu didn't feel as if it had many options (considering I have stayed at other hotels). This is why I recommend only short 1-2 or possibly 3 days stay at this place as you may start to feel as if you've explored everything.
